Father, I pray that unity will be promoted over this holiday weekend when we celebrate the founding of this country. I pray that people will see and focus on what unites us rather than what divides us. Further, I pray for protection for America’s monuments and memorials. We are able to learn much from our study of what they stand for and why they were erected in the first place. I also pray for Americans who remain out of work. May jobs continue to return and be made available to these people so that families can be supported. I pray in the name of Jesus, Amen.

Heavenly Father, often we grow weary with worry and disappointment. We become angry. Life seems so unfair, and we seem so powerless. Where is the meaning and purpose for which we seek? HR6666 has been introduced in Congress. (Yes, that is really the number given by Congress.) It provides for the development and funding of contact tracing entities who would monitor, report, and enforce COVID-related regulations. These contact tracers would have the authority to separate families, re-home citizens who test positive, create a database of positive-tested individuals and more intrusive actions--all with taxpayer funding, and likely little oversight.  Join fellow believers in letting Congress know that you do NOT support this resolution that provides funding and approval for this sort of police-state apparatus.
