I Prayed have prayed
Father, give us grace to trust that Your pruning makes us more fruitful and better able to abide in Christ.
Reading Time: 7 minutes

Here in Texas we are not normally equipped for winter weather. Just before I wrote this article, we were seeing 80-degree afternoons. A few days later, however, a very cold front brought in some very frigid temperatures — in the low 20s — and we even had to deal with blackouts. What a difference a day makes.

Let the IFA community know how to pray for you.

Accompanying that cold front were some very heavy winds, with distinct howling and whipping noises I could hear from indoors. Suddenly, I heard a very loud cracking sound.

I ventured outside to survey my property, and to my surprise I saw a tree toppled over in my yard. I was shocked to see how those powerful winds had snapped the tree at its base.

This particular tree had been dying: Half was vibrant, while the other half had branches that were bare and no longer producing. For months, I had hoped the tree would recover, but it never did.

Coincidentally, the entire tree didn’t come down, but only the dead half. If that part hadn’t come down that way, eventually the whole tree would have been a loss.

As I stared at that tree, I felt the Lord speaking prophetically to me.

I don’t know about you, but my 2022 was one for books, and not in the best of ways. This year I felt as if I were, like that old tree, completely stripped down. At times I have felt as if my prayers were fruitless. The degree of warfare I faced had left me discouraged, exhausted, speechless. At other times, my prayers felt liquid — no words, just tears. Praise God — He understands the language of tears and groanings.

Looking back, I realize that some things I faced this year were due to my own stubbornness. Some of our battles are warfare, but troubles can also come through our refusal to surrender. It’s not always the devil; sometimes it’s our disobedience.

Reading through my prayer journals of 2022, I noticed a common theme. I prayed to be refined. I asked the Lord to prune me and to remove from my life anything that was no longer bearing fruit. Now, here I am in the last week of 2022 with a dead tree in my yard. Don’t you love God’s sense of humor?

What I sensed the Lord speaking through this was that He wants to remove the dead things from us so that we can receive new and living things.

I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful (John 15:1–2 NIV).

Pruning is beneficial to plants not only for aesthetic beauty; pruning brings them health, new growth, and life. In a spiritual sense, pruning holds those same sorts of benefits for us as well: We grow when we are pruned. Sure, it can be painful, but the rewards are worth it, not to mention eternal.

If you have not yet surrendered anything hurtful that you’ve been holding onto, I pray that you will lay it down today, and that you will let the Lord work in your life. It’s for your benefit.

Let your need to control everything die. Trust that God has a plan. At times that plan will not make any sense to us, but His thoughts and ways are higher and better than ours anyway (Isaiah 55:8–9).

Let your strivings and efforts to be seen and recognized by man die, and let your gifts make room for themselves (Proverbs 18:16).

Let whatever has not worked for you in past seasons die. I guarantee that if it hasn’t worked for you up until now, it most definitely won’t work going into the new year either (Philippians 3:13–14).

Let your pride and your need to be “right” die, and humble yourself instead under the all-powerful hand of God, that He may lift and exalt you in due time (1 Peter 5:6).

Let all unforgiveness and feelings of offense stemming from roots of bitterness die. Do this so that you can be healed and set free to bear fruit again.

And when I say let it die, I mean leave it at the cross.

Again, if the dead half of that tree in my yard had not come down, the half that was still living would have died eventually. Jesus, in His mercy, is willing to break off and strip away a few branches to save the whole tree. Thank You Jesus!

Let Him remove every dead and unfruitful thing from your life.

I believe that the Church as a whole has been experiencing pruning as well. For too long we’ve been set in our routines. We often live Sunday to Sunday, forgetting that every single day in between — from the moment we open our eyes in the morning until we shut them again for sleep at night — is an opportunity to share Jesus with a hurting world.

We cannot afford to keep going through the motions in 2023.

When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field” (Matthew 9:36–38 NIV).

The time has come in which “good enough” is no longer good enough — especially for the Church. Programs and platforms aren’t enough. Sure, the seats may be filled, but what about the hearts of men and women? The Lord is looking for churches that will honor His presence above their programs.

That was the hard part, but even in the harder words, there’s always hope and redemption for humankind, thanks to Jesus.

Pruned so that we may abide.

“Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches” … (John 15:4–5).

Although to abide means to stay, sojourn, or dwell, many think it requires total stillness; the word abide, however, is a verb. Some of its synonyms translate also as: to persist, to pursue, to endure, to stand. The verb is an active term, detailing our relationship with the Lord.

Here are just a few of the benefits of abiding, as listed in John 15:

Answered Prayers

As intercessors, don’t we long to see this? Jesus promises us that when we abide in Him, if we ask, He will answer.

“If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you” (John 15:7).

Greater Fruitfulness

Bearing more fruit not only makes us more Christlike, but it also shows that we actually belong to the Lord. That’s why Jesus said in the Gospel of Matthew: “By their fruits you will know them.”

“By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples” (John 15:8).

Fullness of Joy

Do you need joy? I know I’ve needed it — more than once. We are promised joy as a product of abiding in Him.

“These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full” (John 15:11).

Friendship with Jesus

One of my favorite Bible truths: When we abide in Him, He abides with us. We were chosen to bear fruit and to be obedient, resulting in a deepening relationship with Jesus. He is the friend who sticks closer than a brother.

“You are my friends if you do what I command you. No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you” (John 15:14–15).

Whatever your year has looked like, you can thank the Lord that He is the God of second, third, fourth … chances.

If you found yourself isolated for a period, then praise God. He needed to get you away from the noise and distraction, and into the secret place with Him.

If you suffered the loss of a relationship of some kind, you can trust that it was ultimately for your benefit, and that He protected you nonetheless and will eventually connect you with the right people.

If you found yourself humbled, praise God. He is the Lord who gives grace to the humble while resisting the proud.

However this year ends for you, bring it to a close with high praises to God. He didn’t abandon you or fail you. He was with you. And He is still with you.

2023 is the year to go after the Lord with all of our hearts, our souls, our minds, and our strength. Pursue the Lord intentionally, the same way he pursued us, even when we were enemies of the cross.

It’s a year in which we must be all in. Let’s endure whatever 2023 brings, and let us abide with Him.

Let’s pray together:

Father, I want to begin my prayers with praise and thanksgiving. There were times I felt I wouldn’t make it, but thank You, Lord, I’m still here. I could do nothing apart from You. Thank You for Your tender mercies that were there from the moment I woke up in the morning until the instant I fell asleep at night. Thank You that in the midst of my hurting, Your consolation brought me hope.

When I was afraid, You stilled my heart. When I was lonely, You were with me. You are everything I have ever needed, and You are everything I ever will need.

Thank You, Lord. You are so good to me and my family. You extend Your mercy and grace to humankind, giving every one of us the chance to repent and to accept Your invitation to sonship. You are worthy of all my praises. You are worthy of it all. I magnify and glorify Your holy name. I love You, Lord!

I’ve been through so much this year, but I lay it all down. I will not carry anything into the new year that I’m not meant to carry. I release any offense or unforgiveness that I’m harboring against anyone in my biological family or my family in Christ. I will not carry this grudge or burden any longer.

Take this pain that I’ve been holding onto in secret. The rejection, the exclusion, the hurtful way I was made to feel by some of the people I love — I release this pain to You, Lord.

Create in me a clean heart, and renew a right spirit within me.

Thank You, Lord, that You promise to restore the wasted years and everything the locusts have eaten. I cling to your word with hope and expectancy because You are faithful to keep that word and to do exactly what You’ve said.

I will abide in You, as You abide with me. I’m all in, Lord. No holding back, no more being double-minded — I’m all in. I do this for the harvest’s sake and for the glory and honor of Your name.

Lord, I pray that this would be the year Your Church rises up in full and holy abandon. Let us, Your Church, go back to living and moving and having our being in You, and in You alone.

In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Thanking you again for writing this! I sent it to many friends last week and received so many words of gratitude. It truly encompasses all that we must get a hold of as His children to usher in a new year and all of its new days.
Praise God for people who understand what it means to “ Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and all things will be added to you!”

This spoke directly to my heart and the season I’ve been in and am moving in to this year. The Scriptures I’ve been praying are even written within this word. “Create in me a clean heart…”, and the pruning that is so necessary. Thank you for sharing words that I could’ve written, but did not. I’m praying this touches and reaches many.

Sending around to those I know pray and asking to also send to others that may not know of IFA. HE is the only hope for our country. My prayer for 2023 is that we, the bride of Christ will make Him first in our lives and bring Him honor. AND be influences to the unsaved. Also, as I was thinking about how chaotic the world is and how many people, even believers must be such a disappointment to the Creator, It came to me: When there was only TWO, they messed up big time! It actually made me laugh. He could have given the whole thing up right there.

This spoke to me so deeply!!! I truly believe that as we let go of worrrries, pride, unforgiveness, doubt, and our fleshly desires… and walk in obedience to Christ! He will break all chains, addictions, and generational curses!!! We must kill the flesh in order to be restored, renewed, sanctified and purified!!! Keep your temple pure and He will do what He promised He would for every true scriptural believer!!! He will use us mightily in this year to set the captives free! We must sit at His feet daily and listen to His still small voice !! It is then that He will guide us as we abide in Him! For we truly are the branches and He is the Vine… apart from Him we can do nothing!!! Blessings my brethren! May this be a year if the Lord’s favor upon the body of believers!!!! Amen!

awesome, I’d love to share my life changing experience and testimony/ video with yall , I just recently moved here to Georgia from north carolina to be involved in full time evangelist ministry, Amen , I was brought up in the church of God Jentezen Franklin dad use to be our pastor but I got on drugs since a teenager 14 years old went to prison at 16 for selling and delivering weed 5 year sentence got released in 1977 got back on drugs again , but I got involved in the 70’s rock & roll partying drugs and drinking care free attitude and I got involved in crime selling drugs and I shot a man who got got on cocaine bad we had an disagreement which led to his murder and I was arrested and sentence to life in prison in 1979 at the age of 21 in north carolina but even in prison I got involved in drugs and fight I was locked up in a one man cell for fighting the prison system decided I needed to remain on lock down for 6 months at the time I ended up in there 2 years mean while I listen to the radio and came across a minister preaching about the life changing power of Jesus Christ down on my kness I went under the convicting power of God realizing my need for a changed life I was troubled lost soul but that day I experienced a peace inside I never knew before realizing the Lord was real ,the Lord filled me with the Holy Spirit empowering me to tell other men about my experience and seen the lord touch and changed men’s lives, I seen some of the meanest wicked men break down and cry like a baby under the power of God then tears of Joy 😊, the Lord walk with me 24 years in prison , I seen alot of stuff I could write a book , I was released on parole in 2003 and have been involved in ministry sharing my testimony in churches and prisons and just recently I rented my home out in north carolina in obedience to God’s call on my life for full time ministry, I had put it off for years, but deep inside I knew he was calling me by dreams and a vision he had given me concerning ministry it blow my mind . I had been in churches and prisons sharing my testimony over the years but still that higher call was still there, I’d hear preachers preach on the call of God on pauls life and others and I’d weep and weep, I felt it so strong I couldn’t control weeping senseing his Spirit, so after I had been through alot in henderson the last few years , I wont go into details , I finally decided to surrender all to him. Packed my truck and drove off. Its amazing how God worked it out in Georgia I had signed up to be a greeter at the divine women’s conference at free chaple and this brother I met had signed up to he had been going to Jentezen Franklin church 12 years but never had signed up to be a greeter. We worked the same door that day ( it’s a big church) 3000 one service, anyway we connected, he had prayed God would send him some help for his private property and I was praying the lord place me where he wanted me , I camped out at Lanier lake here in Georgia a week in a tent praying seeking his face not my will but yours be done, wonderful time alone with the Lord senseing his presence with me and that Sunday I went to Jentezen Franklin church omg he preached be the lords hands and feet , follow him and let him use you , he said I feel the anointing have a word for someone, Gods opening doors for you , new opportunities, pack your bags. omg , my bags was in the back of my truck 🤧🙋‍♂️☝️🙌 what a confirmation !! then that next Saturday evening I met this brother at the conference and followed him home that night he already had a extra place , at his house he jumps on the Pino and plays and sings lily of the vally,, omg 😲 I couldn’t believe it this brother could make it to Hollywood no problem , then that Sunday morning attended free chaple together rejoicing in him worshipping him him in spirit and truth and again pastor Franklin preached a powerful message on following the lord , so I’m excited to see what all he has in store concerning evangelist ministry, I love evangelicalism +🙏 I already been invited to speak in a church soon here , He has a divine purpose ✨️ Roman’s 8:28 , this is my video, https://youtu.be/bZ7EePgf_Ko

Father, I pray that 2023 will be a year where people will truly see you as Lord and make you #1 in their lives, starting with the churches who aren’t truly following you. Let the church be the light on the hill that will draw those who do not know you to the light of Jesus Christ. I also pray that the church will not compromise with the world but be truly committed to drawing closer to you and exemplifying your character. In the name of Jesus, I pray with thanksgiving, Amen.

Thank you, Father, for the ways you have been showing up in our lives! I had no idea a year ago that I would face cancer in 2022 and a reoccurrence in December. Thank you that you speak a better word over me “LIFE”! You are using this season to prune the dead things that need to go – fear, dread, worry, control, insecurity and doubt that I am really your Beloved. I surrender to you in a new way in the coming year, like when I jumped off that mountain in October tethered to a zip line in Alaska. I am abandoning myself to your purposes, knowing that “underneath are the everlasting arms”. May I honor you, with joy and steadfast faith, whatever this year brings, with a song of praise on my lips and gratitude in my heart! May your church rise up in 2023, as your beautiful Bride, bold, wise and full of love and good works, a beacon of light in a lost and dying world….. We don’t know what to do, but our eyes are on you. Be glorified in, through and around us, in your precious Name we pray and by the power of the blood you poured out to set the captives free! Thank you, Jesus! Amen!

Dear Gloria,
This morning I tried to pray and nothing would come. I asked God to have his Holy Spirit prompt me and prayed that He would show me what to pray. Still, nothing. I confessed my dryness and asked Him to show me what I needed to do. Then I looked at my emails and saw the IFA prayers from yesterday and began to read your message. With each and every word you shared, I felt God answering my pleas. I began to feel my heart opening up and that blessed relief of knowing that God not only hears us but He answers us. Thank you, Gloria, for sharing your heart and for your faithfulness to the God we serve.

Glory to God! Father I stand in agreement with these beautifully penned words. Create in Your church true faith, understanding of Your Holy Word, and total dependency upon You and You alone. Lord, it is so refreshing to hear heart language that resonate some of the same thoughts and feelings we’ve been experiencing here in Nevada. It is so obvious, You are refining Your church to mirror more of You. Purge us! Cleanse our understanding God. We are a desperate people, completely dependent upon YOU! Come Holy Spirit! 2022 has been one of the most difficult yet life altering years of my life. God has graciously shown me “me” this year. There are things I hate but things I like about me. I have been faced with those whom I have hurt, my addictions, my attempts to become self absorbed in media to feed emotions by zoning out to hide emotionally. I have won some battles, lost some battles and continue to fight some but I have a God who never leaves or forsakes and still speaks through His word and His people. I am thankful for the breaking and for the people he has placed in my life. He is a good good father! I plan to begin 2023 in sobriety and fully devoted to Him and his plan for me. Whatever that may be. My prayer is that God will bring the rest of my family into the Kingdom! I need your prayers as I still struggle but I am getting stronger day by day. Pray that I will have purity of heart and purity of motives. Pray special blessings over my leaders (there are many).

God has put on my heart and given me a vision that we will soon be leaving here. It was a vision of me trying to change at a store but the little babies were already in the rooms so I had to go to another store but I was taken up in an elevator and I could see people talking about what they hate in this salon but they couldn’t see me. Then all of a sudden I had on this beautiful white robe! In a moment, in a twinkling of an eye we shall be changed. This corruption must put on incorruption.! Pray against abortion. Pray for our young folk and this gay agenda that I saw in the vision. What is going on now is what is going to be going on when we go up!

Wow, this morning as I was looking out the window on this New Year’s Eve thankfully pondering how He’s safely brought me through yet another year, I watched the weekly landscapers cut away a bunch of tree branches in our courtyard. Yes, I agree with the pruning going on to prepare us for the harvest ahead! Purity of heart, that is also motives, knowing what Jesus gave us, the union life we now have in Him, and total surrender of our time, will, emotions, and desire to please Him only. He gave us His authority to speak only what He tells us, and only do what He says. love is our goal, and focusing on Him, not our circumstances or how we feel. It is a narrow path we are on to live holy lives, knowing we are righteous, through the blood of our Lord. Help us to live to serve others and to bring His kingdom to earth!

Both the Prophetic Word article and Kirk Cameron’s article are God directed for this time in our history as a nation. I’m so very inspired to begin “ setting bushfires of freedom “ as Samuel Adams said and God directs us to do. As believers we must be bold and trust and obey Him by spreading the story of Jesus Christ. Thank you for such inspiration!

So beautifully written. I too want to be pruned to be the fullment of what He wants to do in my life. Today before reading this, I spoke to God and told Him my heart and even though my thoughts were noble, they were not His. I had to forgive the abuse I have had from other, and realize that God will take care of them in His time.

This was an affirmation of God for my heart as I was sitting here in tears confessing my sin of taking offense in the midst of hurt from those I love most! After a fresh surrender to His most Holy way in me, I asked what my word for 2023 would be and yes, it is Abide. I then opened my email and read your post which both affirms and directs my heart into this next year! I join your prayer that I leave all the heart hurts and burdens of 2022 with Him who saves heals and delivers!! Looking forward to all pruning that I might abide fully and freely in His love♥️

Phew. God is so convicting. BEFORE I read this I sat on my couch, finishing my Christmas devotional book that I had fallen behind in doing daily. One of the day’s I had missed revolved around pruning and abiding in Him and His word. This hit home! And then I re-read part of my 2022 prayer journal in preparation for the New Year and an all night prayer & worship service. (I make it a practice to review the past year to see where I fell short, what prayers were answered and do a general review of the year ending.) What did I write in my journal for January 2022? “ABIDE with me and PRUNE me, Lord.” I have fallen way short of submitting to this due to pride and a lack of surrender…and God is pursuing me fierce and tenderly. Seems like I am not alone. Thank you for this post! OUCH but this was much needed in my life. I hear you, God! I repent! Help me surrender more to YOU!

This article has a number of items that are definitely Biblically focused. However, there is one item/focus that we must be careful about. This is the focus that what has not worked in past seasons we need to allow to die. If God has led us, who is to make that decision? I am in intercessor with a generational calling. I have a background in my ancestry of education, and politics. Though I am not a politician, I find myself responding about praying for politicians and issues in our community. I do not often see fruit—because seeing things through God’s eyes does not reflect how man sees the issues. One could think that area is dead. However, I have sensed God’s leading and choose to keep pressing on and faint not. There is another area of education which I have sensed. I have ancestors in my past who helped set up schools. I have sensed a need today for ‘Schools of Prayer’ and groups encouraging people to pray to work together. Several have set up ‘Schools of Prayer’, but these while quite good—have not joined together to expand their total ministry. This desire to see them come together could be considered dead because it has not happened. I have seen other areas where both my wife and I sensed something from the Lord—but for years no one listened. One is for a good gospel church reaching people for Christ in my community. Finally, after 20+ years of prayer, there is a ray of hope that this could happen. What would have happened if my wife and I fainted and stopped seeking the Lord for such a church? If we had stopped seeking the Lord, some would have considered this desire as not bearing fruit and would be classified as a dead issue.

In looking at an area that one could consider dead because se see nothing is happening—I suggest that we should look at the question—have we really sought the Lord. If we have, then keep trusting God to bring what we have sensed about. God lays His desires on the heart of Intercessors. We often feel alone when this happens, and it is easy to give up as if that was a dead impression—one out of ourselves and not the Lord—It would help the intercessor for Godly people to come along side and pray with the intercessor and let God validate whether what the intercessor sensed is of the Lord.

An area of importance for intercessors is the need Godly people coming alongside to listen and prayer with them seeking the Lord and seeking how God wants them to move forward.

Please when looking at what has happened in the past—ask the question—has God has led us? There are a number of times recorded in the Bible where God gave instruction, or told a patiarch what was going to happen, and it was over 70 years before something happened. Let’s not give up if God has led us—that is my prayer.

I heard clearly this morning in my time with the Lord ” Come Home To Me.” I have been asking the Lord for understanding of this word and what it means. After reading this prophetic word I believe He was telling me to Abide in Him. The explanation of the word abide gave direction, assurance and purpose for the year ahead. Last year was difficult in so many ways, pruning was part of that journey. The warfare has been intense. Pruning never stops in our walk with Him…we at times need to let go and let God take the reins. Adjust our thinking and make way for Him to do things in his ways not our ways. This is such a GREAT WORD! Thank you Gloria for sharing this with all of us. So much to glean from this and to remind us to keep our eyes on Him. Praying everyone who reads this gets revelation for their lives in the coming year. 2023 …”Twenty Twenty Free” Hank Kunneman prophesied this. God Bless and stay strong Intercessors. He needs us more than we know to turn our nation and the world around.

Thank you for this powerful, prophetic word. Just last night I cried out to the
Lord, “How do I recover, how do I get back to where I was?” For the last 4 years
I’ve been through devastating loss and extremely difficult circumstances. I feel I’m not who I used to be. I am a tree that has been partially destroyed.

The removing of bitterness and unforgiveness is a key to recovery and new growth, as well as pressing into abiding in the Vine. I was mad that all this happened to me. I had a powerful prayer life and was abiding in Jesus, focused on Him more than ever and felt it was taken away by circumstances I couldn’t change. I lost my motivation, my focus, my quiet times with the Lord, the very thing I needed for victory. I had to be there and not in my prayer closet, etc., etc.

One of the things I always held onto was, He is with me, every day I would confess, “He is with me and will get me through this.” This is the part of me that survived the terrible storm. I am convinced daily that God is with me always and confessed this out loud as much as possible.

My son lives in Texas, and he was sharing with me about the weather, I live in AZ. I felt like this was directed right at me. John 15 is one of my favorite chapters and this is exactly what it’s all about, abiding in Jesus!!

Thank you for your transparency and sharing your struggles as well. It sure helps to know that we all struggle, and God is with us all in and through each one. We may not feel or understand it but confess it! HE IS WITH US, PTL!!
Thank you!!

Father, Thank You, for touching my sister Kathy, there are so many silent sufferers in Your body, alone and missing out on love from the body, many things factor into that equation, one being pride, we as a body promote this. We can’t show weakness.
But showing our weakness opens the door to healing and restoration. How many suffer needlessly in the body.
Father, may the soothing comfort of Your Holy Spirit and the love of the Almighty capture and return Kathy’s heart to You. Day by day may she see an increased pull on her spirit drawing her back to deep fellowship to You. We the body of Christ love you Kathy as does the Father. amen

Thank you for this awesome prophetic word! It describes 2022 in my life perfectly! I will print it and reread it many times, as the Lord has lifted me up and given me wisdom and healing through it. Through this year, God has been teaching me to take one thing–one step–at a time each day. Sometimes I do, and yet most of the time my mind gets bombarded with confusion and too many thoughts about what I see around me that needs to be done. I’m 78, and God continues to prune me daily. Blessings to IFA!!!

After reading this it brought a great light where I am now able to see God’s great hand in all of it. Hello fellow Christians, Muslims, and Jews on our site, I was treated hurtfully by my brother-in-law who still lives with us. I release that pain. I also thank God for restoring the wasted years and what the locusts have eaten.

I continue to serve you, Lord, and I expect 2023 to be a wonderful year. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

THIS IS SOOO TIMELY!!
I live in Highlands Ranch Colorado and this past Thursday, December 29 we awoke to almost a foot of slightly heavy snow.
Our cherry tree(well over a decade old) was already compromised with a healed scar along its trunk. Also some sort of blight caused many limbs to die back with the trunk and various branches “weeping” or oozing sap from the disease.
This latest blizzard resulted in the tree breaking into two parts right at the trunks scar.
Our family has experienced multiple losses in the past(my current husband and I have been married 7 1/2 years and our former spouses died of cancer). My youngest son died in his sleep due to diabetic complications back in 2007 at 20 years old.
This prophetic word bears such witness to me! I was looking at the cherry tree this morning as the snow is melting…God continues to reveal His heart for me and to pray for breakthrough in our family. Breaking off the old to behold the new which takes time and patience in His process of growth.
Again, I thank you for sharing this and God bless you with His favor in 2023 and beyond!!

I really enjoyed this well written article. God is calling his Ecclesiastical to be his people. We are here to listen to him and speak him to others. It doesn’t matter if that is in a church, at an estate dinner or in a homeless camp. We speak Jesus. God tells us that fasting helps us hear him. I’m horrible at it. But, whenever I make an effort, be it a meal, time, habit, He blesses it. He is a good God and he doesn’t waste a thing. Thank you for this. Happy New Year.

Thank you for being so raw and open in this writing and prayer. I have been struggling with the same things but thought I was the only one being pressed, and I felt I must have been in sin since I felt rejected by God and family. Through this reading I see I too have been pruned by our Father, and the times I have been hanging on by only my faith in his word was to remove impurities in my life. Praise him forever more, we serve a merciful and loving God. Please agree with me in prayer that I completely empty myself so he can be seen, and live, in me fully to produce his fruit in my life, as well as other’s lives.

I was really moved by this article… It brought me to tears. I want to be so close to God and to be available to be a kingdom builder in these last days, and less time building my own kingdom of pleasure and selfish desires. God has put on my heart to not only spend time with Him in His word and in prayer but to also encourage my brothers and sisters to abide in Him also by making it our priority to take time out of each and every day to draw near to Him and He will draw near to us. (James 4:8) Many times we make excuses that we don’t have time to read our Bibles and pray because of all the other things that must get done in the day, but isn’t God the most important above all else? If you don’t answer “Yes” to that question then maybe we need to see we have some idols that need to be taken out of the way. My prayer this new year would be that the church (including me) would be more intentional in making more time for our Lord in His word and prayer and making that our first priority. Happy New Year to all!!!🎉🎊💕

This article spoke to me in a way I needed to hear. Just this morning I was asked to leave behind a certain thing that is probably keeping a ministry that I am involved with from getting off the ground. We have been meeting for a few years now, praying and talking about this ministry, we have one who just attends the meetings, but never comes prepared, and never does any of the things we are asked to do. So we are going to have to move ahead without this person, and in doing so it is going to hurt, as you say pruning does, but it will more than likely be best for this ministry to moving. I believe reading this article was an answer from God on how to get this ministry to where He wants it to be. I am praying that the year 2023 will be a new beginning for us. I thank God for leading me to this article, and you for sharing it with IFA.

It was as if Gloria Robles was listening to my prayer time this early morning of the eve of a new year. And as I prayed with my prayer partner of many years as she departs her home to attend the funeral of her only sister. Thoughts and memories flooded my heart as I hung up the phone, Dear Lord, these words from this rendering were a cleansing that I needed and a flame of hope entered my heart. Father, thank you for faithful prayer warriors that hear from You, Thank you for a new year as I wipe away tears, misgivings, hurts and mistakes of last year, I choose instead to remember Your love, Your heart, Your saving Grace and most of all the Gift of all Gifts, Jesus Christ. My heart and eyes are open for the New Year and ALL that You are in the coming New Year. Thank you for preparing my heart and my spirit for the coming New Year and all the promises that are expressed in “Happy New Year”. In the Holy and Precious Name of our Savior and Lord.

Thank You so much! I definite resonate with this. Only problem I have is that I feel like I’ve been stuck in the same storm every since 2019. I have been extremely stubborn and hard on myself more then anything. This article has been a great read and parable. I’m not real sure about it being prophetic but this is definitely a great parable. The fact that the tree is half dead and the cold front + high winds snapped the dead half saving the alive part of the tree is not only amazing because it pretty much shows how God is in control not only of us or our lives but of the nature and environment around us. He knows what’s needed.

This is also amazing because it’s an excellent parable in represention for those like who have been struggling with their faith. I’ve often felt weak, tired and anxiety every since 2019. I had a mental breakdown in 2019 and it just seems like every since I’ve been trying to just get over it on my own terms. Not on God’s terms. I am stubborn and I was raised to be independent so naturally I have a habit of wanting to do everything on my own. Mix that with the fears of what others may be thinking of me or fears of what others would think if I were to talk about it and it just sort of causes the storm to rebuild and grow. That pretty much sums it up for me.

I have been so stubborn that the thought of just letting go of the nightmares, the fear of rejection, loneliness, the fear of the ability to trust others or even myself, or just simply letting go of whatever it has been from my past that I have been holding onto that really has just been killing me very slowly and painfully. The concept of letting the dead part die and return to what I have known which is to trust that though I may struggle trusting that God is always faithful and I know above all I can trust in the Lord and know that if I would just follow the light that I would be enough and that I would not have to worry about what others think of me because when I do that only leads to darkness. I will take notes of this article and this will help remind me through out 2023 that this coming year will make me new and I plan on abiding in the Lord.

A great start is by performing A Random of Kindness per day and also returning to church.

Yes, this article DID resonate with me. Gloria, I can relate to the “pruning” that is going on in my life. It is very simple to me- we can either put our focus on what is wrong in our nation and world, or we can focus on the goodness and provision of Almighty God. The choice is mine alone to make. Half of America is spiritually dead, like that tree – more than half in Congress. We hoped the legislators would recover, b but it is too late. We kept re-electing incumbents, as they kept getting more corrupt. They are serving Satan’s World Economic Forum. The rot is deep, and only God can prune it all out. He soon will.

It is never too late, Bill. We if as Christians, children of God, would read 2 Chronicles 7:14, and heed, God, says He will heal our land. I hear this sentiment a lot from those who lost hope. Don’t lose hope but instead trust and lean on God. God is interested in His Children and how they act and react. May I suggest reading Job and seeing how he dealt with pain? He got on his knees and worshipped God, that is exactly what we must do. It is not over until God says so.

I have enjoyed 2022, feeling productive, being active in satisfying ways, in good relationships and productive conversations. Then I broke my leg at the end of November. My December felt counter to all that I had enjoyed the other 11 months. This month I have much more time alone, some different relationships, not very active and feeling very unproductive. Many times, every day, I give it to God and then He shows me another attitude or thing that I must give to Him. Otherwise I will be a whole tree that topples, not just the parts.

Wow! Your prayer hit home. My daughter lives 250 miles away from me. She hasn’t been to see me in five years and I realized I was holding a secret anger against her because of it. I release her from my thoughts and forgive her. She has teenagers and a very hard job and is the financial supporter of her family. She is busy. I travel to see her twice a month but is getting harder for me since I am 76 years old. The prayer was perfect for me and helped me with the situation. Thank you.

Lord I pray that a godly sorrow that leads to true repentance come upon Your Church.
I pray that we would not be seeking to have our heaven on earth but Your Kingdom to come.
Bring to our remembrance the words of Your servant Peter that since this place is passing away and You are preparing for us our new dwelling place “what manner of persons should we be living lives of holy conduct and godliness?”
I pray that the lies of the evil one be continually exposed and its darkness destroyed by the Light of Your Truth.
May the fullness of Your Truth from “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” to “even so Lord Jesus, come” be our firm foundation of which Christ is the Cornerstone and we are being built up into as living stones.
Give us discernment for the days we are in, for such a time as this, that we should be “wise as serpents and harmless as doves”.

So inspiring, encouraging & convicting. A good word of wisdom & edification.
Pruning required!! Abiding, the loving invitation… Father, remind me by Holy Spirit to heed this word You’ve shared through Your child – for the rest of us kids in Christ. As we humble ourselves, divinely make room for our unique gifts that You can use to advance the Kingdom. In Jesus name I ask. Amen

With a sound mind.
The triune God protects, provides, loves, supplies, heals, transforms, creates, guides, directs, humbles, empowers, shields, touches, purifies, forgives, comforts, leads, gives, silences, equips, holds, encourages, opens, closes, perfects, manifests, breaks through, molds, shapes, grows, attacks, calls, promises, saves, hopes, delivers, cleans, helps, assists, ALL who call upon His name.
Happy 2023 children of the MOST HIGH GOD!!
We join in His mercy and His grace this new year!!
Believing ALL things are possible!
What other action does our God take that I have overlooked?

What a wonderful article, Gloria! The picture of the half dead tree, and how God in his mercy let the dead part fall saw them good part could live. Thank you so much for sharing! I keep hearing this song about the goodness of God.
“And all my life You have been faithful
And all my life You have been so, so good
With every breath that I am able
Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God”
Lord, You are so worthy of our praise, and gratefulness! Glory to God in the highest!!

Oh my goodness! I so much needed those words from Gloria Robles God only knows! This awareness of being fruitless and dry a reminder that there is a spiritual warfare! So help me God as you remove what is fruitless and dead in my life. Help me God show me reveal it to me, may I be aware of what it is God and know that it is your voice I’m listening to Lord. And you know that I can’t do this on my own, never, it’s a daily struggle Lord. I know that all things are possible with you with Lord and I know that you are my source of help in times of trouble I know you will never leave me or forsake, my father I claim your word and your promises to be true in my life today every day Lord thank you. In Jesus name, amen.

Everything in this prayer. Yes. Amen.
Lost my dad to covid after him getting the booster shot. I was so angry but Ive surrendered it all. I pray for others in similar situations, we surrender the pain and forgive because Jesus requires us to do so so our prayers will be answered.

December 31, 2022

Life has laid on me responsibilities I never had for 50 years of marriage but now because my husband’s brain was effected by cancer and Covid, I am overwhelmed. I needed to hear the two words in this prayer – abide and surrender. Anger at the government and medical profession has taken away my joy and left me full of fear. Yet, I know that “my Redeemer lives” and all of these situations will fade if I keep my eyes fixed on Him. I am trying to protect what my husband provided for us but I must surrender it all to the Lord for it is all from His Gracious and generous Hands to begin with. So Lord, I praise You from whom all our blessings flow and pray for guidance in handling this time of life with a gentle and quiet Spirit so all glory goes to You. Amen.

Jesus has abundant mercy for you! Be generous is your trust in him. He will take care of you. Do not hold back in telling him the desires of your heart. Surrender all to him and he will give your heart and soul rest.
I am praying for you to have strength, courage, humility and peace in Jesus’ Holy Name.

Praying for you to have helpers come alongside you, angels in the flesh, even, for the Lord is your Ever Present Help and He will never leave or forsake you. He will strengthen your, body, soul, and spirit every morning and give you restorative nights sleep. He will protect you from wolves in sheep’s clothing and bless your resources so you have enough each day and they never run dry. Praying He will direct you to medical resources and ethical personnel who will provide necessary treatments.
His eye is upon you and the enemy cannot snatch you from His hand. This is a season and will not be forever. We do not know what lies ahead, but God knew and is Jehovah Jireh and has gone ahead and already provided for everyday.
You are going to make it! He loves you! Praying His Royal Blood upon your doorpost and impenetrable hedge of protection around you and hubby, finances, home, bank accounts, everything you steward and everything that touches you. He is for you.
    He is with you always.

Janet, this article resonated with me as well – but your mention of your trial with your husband, even more. I had to stop and let you know that I am praying for you. I know the resentments and the loss of feeling that personal dreams and expectations have been robbed – but I can remind you that nothing is forever except heaven. I pray encouragement over your heart and soul – I am praying that God will bring along side you, help that you NEED – and that you would be able to accept it readily. Most of all, I pray that you hear YOU ARE HEARD – and your pain matters and IS significant. Scripture will speak, but now and then, it helps to have a fellow sojourner remind you that you are not alone. Lifting up MY shield of faith over your situation. Blessings over you Janet.

Thank you! I have received the news that My my kidneys are dying and that I have cancer, I have also heard that dyalysis can restore life and the cancer can be cured. December 31, 2022

Dear Chris, Do not give up hope with your health diagnosis. I have a son in law who lost both of his kidneys at age 37 and within a year someone donated a life saving kidney to him and recently I read how a grandad got a kidney from a stranger who heard the cries for help from his wife, and someone had compassion and donated to him. I also am a cancer survivor who had six months of chemotherapy during the pandemic when no one could go with me because they were not allowed into the treatment centers. But God was with me and saw me through and I am in remission and able to spend more time with my grandkids and family. I am praying for you!

    December 31, 2022

Good Morning Chris, I speak the Word of God over you. “You will not die, but live and proclaim the works (goodness) of the Lord. (Psalm 18:17) Yes, Cancer can be healed and the Lord can restore your health and heal all your wounds. (Jer 30:17) Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. (Hebrews 13:8)
Proverbs 4:20-22. These scriptures are God’ medicine bottle. God’s Word is a tresure full of His promises for his children. If you can get Dodie Osteen’s testimony on how she was healed of cancer by the Word of God, it is very helpful and inspiring for our faith. Also there is a gentlemen named Chris Wark who was directed by the Lord to change his diet and he is healed of cancer. Chrisbeatcancer.com Also there is a publication called “Christ The Healer” by F. F. Bosworth that is amazing in explaining, with scripture, that divine health and healing is a part of our salvation. I have always believed that but don’t hear it from the pulpit. I have been challenged in my health this past year as well, and wanted to share my source of healing with you. It has been a time of getting alone with the Lord, (in His Word) and seeking God with all my heart, soul, body and mind. Understanding what faith really is and then acting on it. If you read Hebrews 11, the faith chapter and really ponder each persons situation and how their faith in God, and love for God made a difference and how it effected history, it is a great faith changer. And the Lord will do the same for you. Chris, I don’t know where you stand in your relationship with the Lord but that is always the first place we have to look. If you need to recommit your life to the Lord then do so and then “hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.” (Hebrews 10:23) God always gets the glory in our healing not the sickness. I will be praying for you 🔥🙏🕊 and I covet your prayers for me. Love your sister in Christ

Gloria absolutely nailed it for me. 2022 was a roller coaster of victories, defeats and moving on. Thru August, all seemed to be victorious prayer, belief, expectation and answers. Since then, it’s as if I were clawing and scratching on my own to be where I thought I should be. The enemy has flooded my thoughts (& life) and it has been a battle royal. Surrendering along the way didn’t seem to bear fruit. But through Gloria’s glorious observations and words, it is He that is working in my life constantly. Jesus, the Gardner. To His will and His good pleasure. How marvelous, how wonderful is God’s grace to me. Indeed, if 2023 is going to be of any consequence at all regarding His Kingdom, it must and only will come through the glorious grace of our savior. Beginning to end.

Wow, there’s no doubt we serve a living God. It’s 1:54 am and I couldn’t sleep. This year brought me some hurts that I thought I had resolved and prayed on but apparently they’ve been slowly trying to eat at me again and at this precise moment my emotions were trying to get me again as I lay in bed. I decided to check my phone and my emails to get me to think on something else and Praise Jesus I came across this prayer. Boy, our God is so amazing. He really never slumbers, he is always on time! Thank you for this devotional. All of it resonated with me. I have had such a desire to see my children walking with the Lord but realize that fervent prayer for them daily avails much. The Holy Spirit must do the work. I want to have greater prayer and devotional life in the new year. I want to abide in Him daily. Many losses of life in my friends and family this past year. It causes urgency in my spirit to witness and love people, all people. The night comes when no man can work. We worship a great God, we praise Him, Halelujah!!!!!

    Hello,
I wanted to encourage you in the Lord…He’s never early, but in his glorious way, HES JUST IN TIME.!! Ask God to forgive your for your sins, known and unknown. (We sin even before we get out of bed) we’re ALL human. Watch out for God opportunities, Be a good soldier for our God!,
I’m not suggesting that you pay everyone begging for money, but find out where they could go outside and help everyone .
Im trying to find out if the begging in the street, is legit.
Sometimes it’s really needed, unfortunately most are scam artist, they don’t want your help just want money, they want a hand out. Pray and ask God for Wisdom.
There is a proper way to pray; ”
    1. Be thankful to God. Enter into his courts with Thanksgiving in you heart.
    2.Praise him for everything!
    3. Worship him with all that is in your heart; and don’t forger to thank him!
    No matter what!
*Remember a prayer request may not happen right away, pray for it anyway, but keep in mind a request made, doesn’t always mean “NO” IT COULD BE A DELAY”
We see in the NOW God sees our whole lives. Be strong!
God is not a man that he should lie.! ❤️

This has been a year of just trying to understand where I belong. The answer has been I belong in the secret place, nothing else will satisfy. Learning to draw close to Him sit and listen for His voice, being still and learning to just let Him love me for who I am. I’m trusting Him with my family whom I’m far away from right now and that’s been very hard but I believe God has a plan for us all. Thank you for your word and prayer it meant so much just to know that my brothers and sisters in Christ all going through a pruning just as well as I am.
