Texas officials are celebrating what they describe as a major victory against transgender procedures for minors after Texas Children’s Hospital agreed to a landmark settlement with Attorney General Ken Paxton. The agreement imposes financial penalties on the hospital, permanently bars it from providing gender-transition procedures to children, and establishes what officials say will be the nation’s first detransition clinic.

From the Washington Examiner:

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has secured a $10 million settlement from Texas Children’s Hospital that legally requires the medical institution to create the nation’s first-ever “detransition clinic.”

Paxton announced the news on Friday, about three years after he started investigating the Houston-based pediatric hospital over transgender procedures and treatments for minors.

The detransition clinic will offer medical care to patients who underwent gender transitions, which Paxton’s office says were pushed by “ideologically motivated physicians.” For the clinic’s first five years, the detransition services will be free to patients and paid by the hospital.

The settlement marks one of the strongest actions yet taken against pediatric transgender procedures in the United States. According to the agreement, Texas Children’s Hospital must also pay $10 million over allegations involving Medicaid billing practices tied to gender-transition treatments. In addition, the hospital agreed to dismiss physicians involved in performing these procedures and pledged never to provide gender transitions to minors again.

This settlement represents a major step toward protecting children from irreversible medical interventions and helping those who regret past procedures receive care and support. The creation of a detransition clinic is especially significant, as growing numbers of former transgender patients across the country have begun speaking publicly about the physical, emotional, and spiritual consequences they experienced after undergoing medical transitions.

The case also drew national attention because of whistleblower Dr. Eithan Haim, who exposed allegations that the hospital continued transgender treatments for minors despite earlier public statements suggesting those practices had stopped. Haim later faced prosecution during the Biden administration before the case was ultimately dismissed after President Donald Trump returned to office.

This story is a reminder to continue praying for truth, accountability, and the protection of children. It is also an opportunity to pray for healing for individuals and families affected by harmful medical decisions and confusing cultural messages.
