I Prayed have prayed
Father, we pray for intercessors and pro-life advocates to remain unified, steadfast, and wise as they doggedly pursue God's justice on this issue in the next year.

The Supreme Court has long been the focus for intercessors around the country. Now, it must become a primary battlefield for our intercession if we are to seize the moment provided to us.

In my column last week, I made this statement:

“There are decision points in our lives and in the life of our nation, where one choice can change the trajectory forever. I believe our nation is in one of those moments, and at this crucial time, many intercessors have grown tired, or even distracted.”

One of those very decision points is before us. The Supreme Court announced they will consider a Mississippi abortion law that could have far-reaching implications for abortion law, even challenging the legalization of abortion itself.

This news has been widely reported, but I’m not sure Christians understand the seriousness, or the complexity, of this opportunity.

One recent quote from a pro-abortion leader struck me:

“This could not be more consequential,” Emily Cain, executive director of the pro-abortion group EMILY’s List, told CBS News, “because Republicans have been trying to hide their true intention around abortion for years. But now, their goal is clear and stated, to overturn Roe and take away the right [for women] to make their own health care decisions.”

Many pro-abortion advocates see this case an act of ideological war, a direct threat to the very heart of the spirit of abortion in this nation.

Maybe they’re right.

If they are so concerned about a fatal blow to abortion and are warning their followers, shouldn’t the people of God take this moment to step in and act? Of course we are to always be diligent and faithful in prayer, but there are moments, or turning points in a battle, as I described, where a single charge or a rallying cry can turn the tide.

Let us not miss such an opportunity.

Insider Intercessory Intelligence

A pastor that I know well in Washington, D.C. just rented a new home through an interesting set of circumstances that strongly suggests the sovereign favor of God. The home is beautiful and centrally located on Capitol Hill just behind the Supreme Court. Even better, the home is so old that it was constructed before many of the modern height requirements that limit how tall a house can be. This home is higher than the others and has a deck where if you stand you can see directly into the Supreme Court, potentially the best view of the building for a home in the area.

What better place to pray for the court and its ruling, than a sovereignly provided perch that looks directly into the government building? We plan to take advantage of it.

I believe God has perfectly placed, positioned, and called intercessors around the nation to take up this opportunity and labor in prayer, to cleanse our land of innocent bloodshed.

But how do we pray?

Prayer Strategy

My sense is that Justices Brett Kavanaugh and John Roberts need the most prayer. Justice Roberts is likely to side against any aggressively anti-abortion rulings, but the conservative Justices won’t need his vote if they can convince Justice Kavanaugh.

It’s also important to understand how the Supreme Court works to better understand how to pray. The highest court in the land is not simply answering “yes” or “no” to abortion with ultimate finality. They are addressing a specific question of how many weeks a woman must be pregnant before states can put regulations and bans on abortions. The Mississippi case in question addresses a 15-week ban, different from the common 22-week ban allowed in many states. While this may seem like an opportunity for a marginal victory at best, there’s more to it. The Supreme Court can choose whether to narrow their ruling to be very limited or expand it to be nationwide.

For instance, in the Supreme Court on gay marriage years ago, the court could have simply issued a restrictive ruling on that particular case, but instead the court decided to release a sweeping, nationwide legalization of gay marriage. The Court has that same power to expand, or reject, abortion restrictions with the same breadth in this case, potentially even outlawing abortion itself.

With this in mind, let us pray:

  • Pray that the Supreme Court will fall under the fear of God and do the right thing, that the Court will not pass up an opportunity to enact God’s justice in the land.
  • Pray that Justice Brett Kavanaugh and John Roberts in particular see that God will hold them accountable for the lives of the unborn and judge their lives on this basis.
  • Pray that the pro-life justices do not simply take the easy way out by agreeing to a restricted ruling, but that they instead push for a precedent-setting ruling with broad implications.
  • Pray that the intercessors and pro-life advocates will remain unified, steadfast, and wise as they doggedly pursue God’s justice on this issue in the next year.

Dear Abba Father,
For You did form my inward parts; You did knit me together in my mother’s womb. I will confess and praise You for You are fearful and wonderful and for the awful wonder of my birth. Wonderful are Your works, and that my inner self knows right well. My frame was not hidden from You when I was being formed in secret and intricately and curiously wrought as if embroidered with various colors in the depths of the earth, a region of darkness and mystery. Your eyes saw my unformed substance, and in Your book all the days of my life were written before ever they took shape, when as yet there was none of them.PSALM 139:13-17 (Amplified)

Father, we pray, in the name of Jesus, that every Supreme Court Justice, will fear You, more than man! We pray that You will open the eyes of their understanding that they will do Your will. We pray for courage and divine wisdom for each Justice. We pray that none of them will compromise, in any way, on the issue of abortion. Father, speak to each Justice, showing them that You will hold them accountable for their vote.

Thank you, Casey, for writing this article. With the depraved, evil political climate and socialistic agenda that has taken over in Washington, we need to be interceding like never before. We need to be diligently be lifting up our Supreme Court, that they would be consulting the Lord, before any decisions are made regarding this important issue of abortion. The sanctity of human life has far-reaching implications beyond this issue- part of this socialistic agenda that needs to be dealt a severe blow. Lord Jesus, we pray that the Supreme court justices would very seriously seek Your will for them in deciding this case. I bind the attempts of the enemy to interfere with seeking You. Please, guide and direct the justices as they wrestle with this issue. Cause them , by the power of Holy Spirit, to do Your will. In Jesus’ name I pray this.

Let us also keep a hedge of protection around all of the justices. There is a push for Briar to retire so a younger more radical voice can be seated. Father, if it be thy will may each justice on our supreme court enjoy long life and good health…in the mighty name of Jesus.

Dear Father God, please move with your Holy Spirit upon all the justices of the Supreme Court to seize this opportunity to rule with your righteousness in this Minnesota case. To pave the way for Roe v Wade to be overturned and no longer the law of our land. We have been praying for so long for abortion to be absolutely gone, and for babies’ lives to be saved, in Jesus’ mighty name. Jesus loves the little children!

Thank You, Father, for Your goodness and Grace. Thank You for Your Loving kindness and tender mercies. Father, every life is precious to You. Every person in this earth is created in Your image. Children are a heritage and a reward from You. My petition to You, Father, is for Roe v, Wade to be overturned. I put the hearts of the Supreme Court Justices in You hands. Turn their hearts towards You. Guide them, direct them and anoint them with Your wisdom as they wield their influence. Thank You, Father, that Roe v. Wade will be overturned, in Jesus name, amen. What is sad, is the statement I read that Republicans don’t believe in saving lives but this is just White Supremacy. Enough with this racist garbage. It is just more hate speech to divide this country.
