In the wake of the U.S. Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v. Wade, the Guttmacher Institute reported a significant increase in the number and rate of abortions in the United States in 2023. These statistics are deeply troubling and underscore the urgent need for a renewed commitment to the sanctity of life.

The report estimates that there were 1,026,690 abortions in the formal U.S. health care system in 2023, a rate of 15.7 abortions per 1,000 women of reproductive age. This represents a 10% increase from 2020. Every state that had not outlawed abortion saw an increase in the number of abortions performed. The sharpest increases were seen in states bordering those in which abortion is banned, with a 37% increase from 2020 to 2023.
These numbers are staggering, but they likely underestimate the issue’s true scale. The report includes only abortions obtained within the formal U.S. health care system — excluding those obtained through underground national and international networks.
Medication abortions, which involve a two-drug regimen that ends the life of the unborn child, accounted for 63% of all abortions in the U.S. in 2023, up from 53% in 2020. Approximately 642,700 unborn babies were killed through medication abortions within the health care system.
The Supreme Court will soon hear oral arguments in a case that could significantly impact how mifepristone, one of the drugs used in medication abortions, is used in this country. This case pertains to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s rolling back safety restrictions for mifepristone.
The Biden administration has promoted medication abortions, and in January of 2023, the FDA allowed retail pharmacies to dispense abortion pills. Several Democrat governors have stockpiled abortion pills while enacting shield laws that protect health care providers who prescribe mifepristone to women and girls in states with laws protecting the unborn.
We must keep speaking out against these policies and work toward a culture that values and protects every human life. We must continue to pray for an end to abortion and for the healing of all those harmed by it.

Heavenly Father I speak against the terrible evil of abortion and rebuke it in Jesus Name. May the people who take this so lightly somehow realize the gravity of it all. The unborn baby is a viable life and not some way or other just tissue of some sort. The only reason it doesn’t look like a baby is that it is a matter of time and development. Praying for eyes to be opened and ears to hear the truth. Praying for hearts 💕 that care. Please bring another Great Awakening to our country. We thank You for the pockets of revivals we are seeing. We need a massive revival, this is the only way where others will see the need for preserving life. What we believe matters. Change us Lord, and confirm us to the image of Your son!

We need to teach a culture of joy in purity, joy in God given uniqueness, , responsibility and position beyond animal urges. Our focus needs to be on those who have relations out of marriage, thus precious but unwanted babies are. victims of selfish senseless murder. Our culture and churches and families and schools have acceoted and permitted this ‘no fault ‘ no accountability behavior . resulting in killing if the unborn. Perhaps itt accelerated when ‘no fault’ divirce became a norm in the 60s.
Praise God fir families schools, and yes, Christian colleges and universities who are nurturing and teaching and formng children and young adults to value their God given potential and to respet God given life!!!!
