Thank God for our founding fathers, that most of them trusted in Him and that they established a government based on Nature’s God and the Biblical truth. May God enable us to teach the children in our lives wisdom.

The father of a righteous child has great joy; a man who fathers a wise son rejoices in him. (Pr. 23:24)

“A growing number of states are realizing the importance of teaching high school students the nation’s founding documents after schools have ignored them for years.

Kentucky and Arkansas have become the latest of more than a dozen states requiring high school social studies curricula to include material covered by the 100 questions asked on the naturalization exam, which includes questions about U.S. history, civics, and government.

‘I hope this is a wake-up call,’ says attorney John Whitehead, president of Rutherford Institute. ‘I talk to people who graduate from law school in my summer intern program, and they can’t even give me the five freedoms in the First Amendment.’

John Whitehead goes on to say, ‘I think parents should get together and form their own oversight committees and make sure that they’re teaching the Bill of Rights, they’re teaching the Constitution, they’re teaching real history and how government should work.’” (Excerpted from One News Now, reporting by Bob Kellogg.)

I learned this in school beginning in elementary school and throughout my junior and high school years. When did they decide it was not important? So sad . . . and it makes me angry as well. I am so glad Arkansas has decided to step up (my state) and get it back in the classroom!

I completed Hillsdale’s “Constitution 101” course and am about to complete its “The Presidency and the Constitution.” These courses have really helped me understand how far off the rails our government has fallen. I can’t wait to take “The Supreme Court” next and to keep on going after that.

Took the Hillsdale online Constitution course myself in preparation for teaching senior civics and economics this year. Used their online Economics 101 course as part of our curriculum, along with most of Richard Maybury’s “Uncle Eric” books. We all learned a lot. Can’t wait to go deeper in the upcoming year!

There are many resources to find out about how brilliant the Founders were when they set up this Nation and how blessed we are to be Americans. I highly recommend Hillsdale College’s Constitution 101 course. Its on line and its free (it doesn’t cost you a single dime) – just go to hillsdalecollege.edu and follow the prompts to register. That way you can be more educated when you talk to the public school types about our Founding documents.

This should be a big wake up call! All high schools should teach about the Bill of Rights, U.S Constitutiion and how our government should work. I am 82 and what I learned in elementary school also about the three branches of our government I have never forgotten. It sure helps me now to understand when things are not right.
