Only God could have created and sustained our free nation. Throughout American history, He has inspired and responded to the fervent prayers of His people. On this National Day of Prayer 2017, as we intercede for our nation, it is encouraging to remember how God has answered prayer at critical times in our history:
- Christopher Columbus wrote in his diary that he was guided by the Holy Spirit as he sought direction to find the New World.
- The pilgrims of the Mayflower fasted and prayed for the relief of the unrelenting drought threatening their lives. The gracious and speedy answer from God saved their lives during the early years of the Plymouth Plantation.
- A national day of prayer was called for by the first Continental Congress in 1775.
- Our nation nearly disintegrated when the debate over our Constitution came to a standstill. In response, Benjamin Franklin called the Continental Congress to prayer. Within two days, the Congress produced the final draft of the world’s longest standing constitution.
- A young Colonial officer and man of prayer, George Washington, miraculously survived many battles (even one where his jacket had 4 bullet holes and his horse was shot out from under him two times) and later became the first President of the United States of America.
- In 1863, when our nation was split and broken during the Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln called for a national day of humiliation, prayer and fasting. The nation was preserved.
- In 1944, President Franklin D. Roosevelt in a national radio broadcast asked Americans to join him in prayer on D-Day, when the Allies invaded Normandy.
- In 1952, President Harry S. Truman recognized the need for the nation to pray by signing into law the National Day of Prayer.
- In 1988, President Ronald Reagan proclaimed the National Day of Prayer to be on the first Thursday of May.
Prayer has played an undeniable and critical role in our nation! It is of paramount importance for our leaders to continue this great tradition. The National Day of Prayer 2017 reminds us of the urgent need to pray.
Regardless of our political positions or spiritual traditions, we agree that our government leaders are not perfect. We know this with great confidence, not because of what we have read in the press, but because the Scriptures say that “all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.” Our leaders, just like us, are imperfect men and women in need of Divine guidance. As a result of their power and position, our leaders need even more concerted and effective prayer. There is a constant temptation for leaders in government to amass power and replace reliance upon God with the reliance upon our State. This creates an environment that erodes the religious freedoms afforded to us by Nature’s God, who creates all with the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
Just as a syrup maker boils down the raw syrup to clarify and intensify the flavor, on this day we must clarify and intensify our prayers for leaders who have a sinful nature and for our free government that could elevate its importance above the individual and the Church.
We must specifically pray:
- The Church would lead our nation in righteousness. Righteousness exalts a nation—it was never the role of government to define righteousness for us.
- Our nation would understand that all of us are accountable for our collective actions, in light of God’s promise in Micah: I will take vengeance in anger and wrath on the nations that have not obeyed me. (Mic. 5:15)
- We would submit to God’s design for our government, found in Isaiah 33:22: For the Lord is our judge, the Lord is our lawgiver, and the Lord is our King, it is he who saves. Government was created by God as one of three central institutions (in addition to the Church and marriage) He established to care for his creation.
- God would raise up humble leaders who understand where we can find enough wisdom to solve any problem our nation might face—the fear of the Lord is the key to this treasure. (Is. 33:6)
The theme of this 66th National Day of Prayer is “Hear us, forgive us and heal us.” We must pray for the supremacy and the effectiveness of the Church to lead our nation and our nation’s leaders. We must renounce spiritual nationalism which rests on the hope that our government will usher in God’s kingdom. Rather, we must remember that it was the First Great Awakening of the Church that produced the first leaders for our nation. It was not the other way around–our government will not usher in the next great awakening.
Our spiritual freedom, and perhaps the world’s spiritual freedom as well, rest upon our prayers for our nation. Christians have been the world’s leaders for spiritual freedom and have brought hope to countless millions who pray for our nation so that they might have some benefit in their own. Across the world, anti-Semitism, religiously-motivated terrorism, and religious discrimination are on the rise. It is our responsibility as Christians in this nation to fight, on our knees, for our religious freedoms here so that these freedoms would flourish abroad as well.
Please join me in fervent prayer on this special day. Our Creator, Yhwh, can change the course of nations. He invites us join him in creating history through prayer. It is a Divine opportunity we cannot miss.

Dear Jesus, please hear our prayers and forgive our indifference to You. Please heal our land and protect us from the enemy, physical and spiritual. Please give our president Donald Trump a discerning heart and mind, wisdom, knowledge, good health and strength for the overwhelming job he has accepted, and mostly, a desire to love and serve You. Also, please give all of his cabinet members and all Congress members that same desire to love and serve You as they realize that You are the One who has placed them in their political positions.
Please revive Your church and it’s leaders and wake us up to turn to you and pray without ceasing every day. Thank You Jesus! Amen!
Dear Heavenly Father, we thank you for Intercessors For America and praying in agreement this National Day of Prayer for our Nation. Father we need Your Healing Hand to touch us as a Nation. When we want nothing more than to throw in the towel and give up, that’s when we must surrender to the true healing God offers; healing that includes the spirit as well as the body. God heals us in many different ways, our church, leaders, physicians, friends, family, goals, pets are all channels of healing. So, let’s keep our faith in God, strong and our hearts open to God’s love and care in prayer.
Jeremiah 17:14 – Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed, save me, and I shall be saved; for you are my praise.
Father in Heaven,
We seek thy guidance in the United States on this national day of prayer.
Throughout the ages thy holiness is faithful and true. Our trust is in thee.

Thank yo Elohim Yhwh for your goodness supreme omnipresence,love joy peace and other gifts of the Spirit that you have given to the body of Christ to enable us through your grace and mercy to celebrate this national day of prayer.Thanks for IFA, Dave Kubal and all his staff for being submitted to the Holy Spirit and guiding us in prayer/intercession.I so enjoy the times when the body of Christ is united and cannot wait until the “church” takes her rightful place via humility and prayer unto repentance to bring this nation and country in reconciliation to God the father.

Dear Lord,
Please grant us revival in ou churches. May Your Truth be preached in the power of Your Holy Spirit. Set Your pulpits on fire. Grant us a Christian Spiritual Awakening of unparalleled proportions. Draw our leaders to Yourself. Give them wisdom and guidance and creative solutions and a great fear of You for that is the beginning of wisdom. Grant us repentance and make unbelievers miserable in their current spiritual walks.
To You alone be the praise, the glory and the power. In Jesus’Name, amen.
My prayer is that our Nation will return to God our creator. He will be our shield and protector.
Jesus told me to praise and thank Him for what He is doing in our nation, Jesus, I thank You for having the hearts of our leaders, everyone who has any part in running this nation, from President Trump on down to the smallest areas leaders. I praise You for turning them to do righteous deeds and I thank You for awakening them to the truth of doing them. Lord I praise and thank You for putting a hunger and a thirst in all for You and Your Kingdom. Holy Father I praise and thank You for exposing all corruption in those who are corrupt in their deeds and removing this from our nation. I thank You for raising up Your standard and awakening us, Your Children to the seriousness of listening to You and obeying You in all our ways. Jesus, forgive us for the sins of abortion and trying to run things in our own ways, come Lord save America and bring us a mighty awakening, renewal and revival. How I thank the Lord for IFA and many other groups of God’s people who are setting this day aside to intercede for our nation! Yes, evening, morning and noon will I pray and cry aloud –

I will be praying for our leaders and those in opposition to the election results. May the Lord direct each government leader with wisdom and knowledge so decision will be made in accordance with God’s will. I pray for wisdom for Pres Trump that he will not start a war with the leader of North Korea.

I’m praying humbly with repentance for revival in the US. Praying for leadership from President Trump to the leaders in individual homes. Praying for our young adults to see the power of God move in this country.

We must confess our sins, rent/tear our garments spiritually, bow before the living God of Heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, whose blood cleanses us from our sins. Cry out in desperation for all those whose hearts have hardened because of their open rebellion against God’s laws and in their so doing have fallen prey to the strong delusion now engulfing our world like a giant web! If God does not show forth His mercy, grace and forgiveness, but rather begins to rain His judgments upon the earth, we haven’t seen anything yet! The worst is yet to come, and will come! Prayer is our only solace in these last days!

EARLY ON IN THE ELECTION THE LORD TOLD ME THAT WHEN TRUMP WON THE ELECTION TO BE SURE AND WARN THE BODY THAT NATIONALISM IS ALSO REBELLION UNLESS IT IS ONE NATION UNDER GOD. HE REMINDED ME OF THE TIMES ANCIENT ISRAEL SHOOK OFF THEIR OPPRESSORS AND REACTED IN NATIONALISTIC BRAVADO RATHER THAN REPENTANCE AND RETURNING TO YAHWEH.
WHEN I WAS TOLD THE ABOVE; I ASKED IF TRUMP WAS GOING TO WIN? NO ANSWER. NOT UNTIL ELECTION NIGHT DID I GET MY ANSWER. “IF I WOULD HAVE TOLD YOU THEN; WOULD YOU HAVE PRAYED, TRAVAILED AND GROANED TO SEE THIS THING COME FORTH?”
CRITICAL INSIGHTS:
A NATION AND GROUPING OF PEOPLES IS AN ORGANISM, MUCH LIKE A MAN OR THE BODY OF CHRIST. THIS NEXT STAGE OF THE BATTLE MUST CONTINUE TO DRIVE THE DEMONIC HORDES OUT OF THIS NATION OR LIKE ISRAEL THEY WILL BECOME “A THORN IN OUR SIDE.” (NUMBERS 33:55) JUST LIKE WHEN A DEMON COMES OUT OF A MAN THAT MAN MUST BE FILLED WITH THE SPIRIT OF THE LIVING GOD. REVIVAL MUST BE PART OF THIS BATTLE PLAN TO SWEEP CLEAN THESE EMPTY SPACES AND FILL THIS NATION WITH THE SPIRIT ONCE AGAIN.
THE SPIRITUAL PRECEPT OF A “HOUSE DIVIDED CANNOT STAND” NEEDS BE ADDRESSED. WE ARE IN MORE UNITY AS A NATION THAN WE HAVE BEEN FOR HALF A CENTURY.
THERE ARE 7 “WORLD RULER” SPIRITS THAT ARE THE POLAR OPPOSITE OF THE 7 SPIRITS BEFORE THE THRONE OF GOD, THE 7 SPIRITS ON THE ROOT OF JESSE, THE 7 PILLARS OF WISDOM AND THE CANDLESTICK ETC. (ISA 11:1-3, REV 4:5)
THE “WORLD RULER” … THE “SPIRIT OF REBELLION” IS DEAD OPPOSITE “THE SPIRIT OF UNDERSTANDING.” REBELLION PRODUCES THE TWINS OF DIVISION AND CORRUPTION, WHEREAS THE SPIRIT OF UNDERSTANDING PRODUCES UNION AND HOLINESS. IT IS THE VERY JURISDICTION OF WHY WHEN A PERSON RECEIVES A WORD BUT “UNDERSTANDS IT NOT” … THAT THE DEVIL IMMEDIATELY TAKES THE WORD FROM THEM. (MATT 13:19, MK 4:15)
THE TOWER OF BABEL IS PERHAPS THE PRIME EXAMPLE OF DIVISION AND CORRUPTION RESULTING FROM REBELLION.

Since the election- the Church has seen how powerful “presence” and “voice” are in our nation. A battle is waging over the life of our nation and the Church is awakening. On this one day of the year set aside by our federal government as a day to pray, it cannot be emphasized enough how important it is for God’s people to join together in “presence” and “voice” crying out to heaven for God’s forgiveness, His mercy and for “His Righteousness” to be established in our boarders once again. Psm 51: Forgive us oh Lord, for (4) against thee have we sinned. (10) Renew a right spirit within us.

I pray that the spirit of God be on every one that has a part in the government. That they feel the presents of the Holy Spirit in every word they speak and have joy for the Lord and show it when in meetings to vote for the good of the nation and not the party.

Our prayers are paramount in the “fight” for our nation, religious freedom and a God fearing Nation. We see daily how He answers our prayers, and He certainly showed us that with this recent election. I pray for the Leaders of this Nation to bow their hearts before God and ask for Devine guidance in governing our great Nation. God has always shown favor when we turn to Him for direction and His wisdom. God bless American for His glory.
I will be joining via facebook live to pray with you all. I am praying with you for this nation to turn back to God and that we would be a nation that exalts God as we once did. My prayer for our president is for wisdom, humility, and strength to exercise righteous godly judgments and to have full confidence that as he remains steadfast, God will not fail him. I continually pray for righteous leaders to be elected in our government to the highest seats that need to be filled to the lowest. I am continually praying for the church to take her place once more. For her to be uncompromising in the face of adversity. For the church to stand up for traditional marriage, to stand up for life and pray for the end of abortion, and to see prayer back in schools again. Let us who call on the name of Jesus be not just hearers of the word, but doers. Let us pray without ceasing, honor All authority over us including governmental, be salt and light to the lost, broken, hurting in jesus name.
