I Prayed have prayed
Lord, we pray for the family of George Floyd who are mourning about his unjust death. We also lift up to you the people of Minneapolis. Help them to hold peaceful demonstrations regarding racial injustice and put aside violence so that no more human life will be lost.

A second night of protests follows the death Monday of 46-year-old George Floyd, a black man, whose arrest, videotaped by a bystander, shows a police officer kneeling on a handcuffed Floyd’s neck until he became unresponsive.

Floyd can be heard saying, “I can’t breathe.”

Floyd died later at a hospital. Four police officers were fired Tuesday in connection with the incident. . .

[The tragic incident brought an overwhelming visceral reaction from many across the nation, conservative and liberal alike. The brutal killing at the hands of Minneapolis police sparked a plethora of YouTube reaction videos, many of whom were tearfully mourning the racial injustice.]

Protestors looted and rioted in an overnight standoff with police, who fired rubber bullets and tear gas, keeping them away from a police station.

Police say that a person was fatally shot amid the protesting overnight Wednesday and that they have a suspect in custody, according to the Associated Press.

Now, the mayor of Minneapolis, Jacob Frey, has requested the presence of the National Guard as protests intensify. “I cannot risk the safety of innocent people and so that is what I’ve been sworn to uphold and that is what I am dedicated to do,” said the mayor. “We can have both things. We can have peaceful demonstrations, but I also have to ensure the safety of everyone in the city.”

Lord please be with the family of the man who was killed by the police officer. Father please also be with the people of Minnesota. May the inappropriate behavior stop and may justice come from this situation. I pray this in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Father God, I pray that justice would be served by peaceful demonstrations and not by violence. Help them to see that violence never accomplishes anything but more hatred. Father change their hearts.

Note to Minneapolis Rioters:

The anger is understood, even the rage, but this kind of action is accomplice to the very evil that triggered it. The same evil that stole the life of Mr. Floyd, transferred to the rioters, looters, murderers, robbing, stealing, destroying other innocents.

Americans, citizens, brothers, sisters.

People are evil. They do heinous acts.

But, not all.

Right?

Individual rogue acts do not comprise an entire class.

Last week a young man repeatedly punched the face of a senior citizen in a nursing home until his face was bloody. The young man was black. The old man was white.

But that doesn’t make all black men evil, or nursing home staff wicked.

These rogue cops do not represent the entire police force.

There are those who long for another Ferguson. Chaos. Confusion. Hatred. Division. Deception. But it accomplishes nothing. It only hurts you. Us.

You’re better than this. Much better.

There are those who manipulate the masses to act like a chaotic class of animals. This behavior grants permission to tighten their strangle hold on our necks. They long to enslave and impoverish until they reign like royalty over peasants. They divide by class and color, barking orders about who belongs where, how you should live and think and vote.

You’re better than this. Much better

Dissenters are ridiculed with words like, “you ain’t black” or you’re a bunch of white trash “deplorables.”

But that’s not the facts. You’re not that. You’re unique. You have a specific blend of gifts and talents that belong only to you. Think about it. No one. Not one single solitary person in the universe has exactly the same gifts and talents and callings as you. You are YOU-nique…a one of a kind masterpiece. Seriously.

YOU ARE A MASTERPIECE.

You’re not just some screaming voice in a mass of chaos.

You’re an eagle soaring above all of it. Peacefully gliding along, looking at the big picture, quietly, rising high above the storm.

Note to Minneapolis Rioters: You Are a Masterpiece

Doug Spurling, as I read your comment about this awful story happening once again, I can agree with everything you said except for one thing. I cannot in my right mind call the rioters a masterpiece. I can call those that are in their quiet places weeping and praying to God for mercy and forgiveness, a masterpiece. We become a masterpiece when we allow the potter (God) to form us (the clay). I can only pray for those rioters that they will see themselves and their actions as God sees them. Sinners who need a Savior.

Hi Barbara, Thank you for your comment. I pray you all are well and out of harm’s way.

      I know what you mean.

My initial thoughts were “Those rioting THUGS are complicit in the exact same evil as those THUG cops that murdered Mr. George Floyd. Evil doesn’t stop evil, it inflames”

But, the post was a note to the rioters, with hopes of quenching the fire not fueling it. Thus, my words were an attempt to appeal their “better angels.” The part of them down deep inside, beyond the hate, the vile, before the sin, to that place where they were fearfully and wonderfully made by our Loving Creator, Who planned their days to be filled with His Divine calling and purpose…a masterpiece, if you will.

Alas, I don’t think it’s done much good.

      The city still burns.

      Their hearts still rage.

We continue to pray and watch what the Lord has said about the last days…play out before our very eyes.

Thanks again, I appreciate you and pray God’s very best for you.

Thank you Doug for your reply. Our prayers for this evil to cease right now is what’s needed. Also, the media needs to strongly condemn the actions of the rioters, not just the officer.
