Authorities said that between May 2022 and June 2023, Groves took multiple photos of prepubescent children in a private bathroom during routine diaper and pull-up changes prior to nap time.

Groves then sent the photos to Laughton via text message, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

A forensic review of Laughton and Groves’ cellphones uncovered more than 10,000 text messages sent between the two over a one-month period in 2023.

According to federal prosecutors, Stacie Marie Laughton, a former New Hampshire state representative, pleaded guilty to sexual exploitation of children and was sentenced to more than 33 years in prison. Laughton’s former partner, Lindsay Groves, who worked at Creative Minds daycare in Tyngsborough, Massachusetts, received a 22-year prison sentence earlier this month after pleading guilty to multiple child exploitation charges.

Investigators uncovered extensive communications between the two, including discussions involving explicit images of young children. Court documents indicate that some of the victims were between 3 and 5 years old. Law enforcement officials confirmed that all identified victims and their families were notified as the investigation progressed.

Cases like this highlight the ongoing challenge of protecting children from exploitation and abuse. Child advocacy organizations have repeatedly warned that predators often seek positions or relationships that provide access to children. The successful prosecution of this case demonstrates the critical role played by digital forensics, law enforcement cooperation, and vigilant investigators in uncovering crimes that might otherwise remain hidden.

Notably, Laughton was the nation’s first transgender lawmaker. While his identity may be a coincidence in relation to his crimes, it is impossible to ignore the sexual deviancy inherent in transgenderism. His story is a lesson in why those trapped in dangerous, deviant ideologies shouldn’t be entrusted with our children or with leading our states and nation.
