Moderate lawmakers are good for the country. It’s good to see those with resolve stand up to power. We should be thankful for this.

Joe Manchin on Thursday dealt a devastating blow to Democrats’ hopes for sweeping legislative action this year, telling Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and his staff “unequivocally” that he won’t support the climate or tax provisions of a Democratic economic package, two sources familiar with the talks tell CNN.

The two had been negotiating for months, and Schumer, a New York Democrat, had made a number of concessions to pare back the climate provisions to appease Manchin, whose support is critical in an evenly decided Senate.
Manchin is open to letting Medicare negotiate prescription drugs prices and to extending enhanced Affordable Care Act subsidies for two years, one of the sources said, which suggests that’s all Democrats are likely to get in the package.
But the moderate West Virginia Democrat, who has cited increased federal spending as a main driver of inflation, would not budge on other Democratic priorities, and he told Schumer that he will not consider raising taxes on the wealthy or corporations….
“I’m not going to sugar coat my disappointment here, especially since nearly all issues in the climate and energy space had been resolved,” Senate Finance Chair Ron Wyden, whose committee had jurisdiction over the clean energy tax credits and corporate tax provisions, said in a statement….
Similarly, climate advocates, many of whom were anticipating seeing climate and energy bill text soon, reacted on Thursday night with shock and outrage.
“This is nothing short of a death sentence,” Varshini Prakash, co-founder of youth climate group Sunrise Movement, said in a statement….
Manchin’s office pointed to rising inflation. “Political headlines are of no value to the millions of Americans struggling to afford groceries and gas as inflation soars to 9.1%,” Manchin spokeswoman Sam Runyon said in a statement. “Senator Manchin believes it’s time for leaders to put political agendas aside, reevaluate and adjust to the economic realities the country faces to avoid taking steps that add fuel to the inflation fire….”
But Evergreen Action co-founder Jamal Raad told CNN that Manchin’s argument about not spending more to avoid worsening inflation missed the mark when it came to energy and climate.
“He’s not even about solving inflation because the major driver of inflation was gas prices, and he decided we should invest more in fossil fuels,” Raad said….

Thank God for For senator Manchin. He’s got stamina and guts to stand up for what he believes under pressure. A true American Patriot and in my eyes a hero. Now the rest of the gutless wonders in the Republican party need to take note and do the same thing. We all know that the climate change agenda is a joke, That it is being used to destroy this country, Along with destroying people’s lives. I think you should run for president. I pray to God we get more leaders senators representatives Congressman and in Washington DC in the White House this November and the next couple of years.

I am thankful that Mr. Manchin is taking this stand and I pray that God will put a hedge around him and keep in on this track that he seems to be one. Praying for continued miracles, in Jesus Name.
I thank our God for Joe Manchin, a moderate democrat. I declare and decree that the green new deal corruption will be revealed as it is connected to the one would order demonic scheme. I decree that more democrats will stand up against the insane agenda of the radical left connected to satan himself. It is a good against evil situation and God is always the victor. I decree the fear of God will come into some teachable democrats and they will stand with Joe Manchin against this evil communistic agenda which by the way is unconstitutional to the core. There is a doctrine called doctrine of resistance to wicked authorities connected to the theory of interposition of lower magistrates which is embedded in our Declaration of Independence which gives the legal right to remove tyrannical government leaders. Our founding father documents allow this but most of all it is Godly government which is our Constitutional Republic documents. They are connected to the court of heaven for backing. I decree that tyrannical government representatives will be removed and that the ekklesia directed by God is and will continue to take our country back because America belongs to God. Our freedoms come from God, the God of nature and natures God and his laws are imprinted in creation as well as our government. No King but Jesus. The energy package is a regurgitation of the cap and trade idea, which promoted the lie that the poor would benefit from green spending.

Thank God for Senator Manchin. I pray that he hold strong to his convictions and stand for all citizens of this Nation. Prices have continued to increase and gasoline prices have greatly affected every person. Our taxes increase and our investments are dropping with each passing day. This hemorrhaging must be stopped, in Jesus mighty Name.
