Lord, breathe life into our nation. Thank You that You are the God who heals and that life is found in You and You alone.

This was written January 29, 2006, two days before the confirmation of Justice Samuel Alito for the Supreme Court. We believe that it would be wise to pray into this word now.

America is in desperate need of life.  Our spiritual condition parallels our natural condition.  Both conditions have experienced much death in the last few decades.  In order to be renewed, we need God to breathe life into us.

God Brings Life Through His Breath

God is the same today as He was in the beginning.  He always brings life the same way – through His breath.

Since creation God has always brought life through His breath.  In Genesis 2:7, “the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.”  Today, God still brings life through breath.  Jesus Christ explains in John 3:1-21 that we must be born a second time of the Spirit of God, by way of spiritual breath.  In verses 5, 6, and 8 Jesus speaks of birth by the Spirit.  The Greek word for “Spirit” is pneuma, which is translated:  “breath, or a current of air.”  The root word pneo literally means “to breathe hard.”

In the thirty-seventh chapter of Ezekiel, God shows us that He brings life to a nation in the same way that He brings life to a person – by His breath.  In verses one through fourteen, God takes Ezekiel in the Spirit and puts him in the midst of a great valley of dry bones.  Our situation in American today is similar to the situation that Israel faced:  “Our bones are dry, our hope is lost, and we ourselves are cut off.”

Ezekiel walked in the midst of the valley of dry bones and then God asked Ezekiel whether the bones could live.  In short, God asked Ezekiel whether he believed that God was able to make these bones live.  Of course, the correct answer should have been: “Yes Sir.”  But Ezekiel – like many of us – lacked faith and bashfully answered:  “Oh Lord God, you know.”  Americans, like Ezekiel, have had their faith weakened by their experience.  We have walked a long time through the death and dryness of this nation, and we should guard against having bashful faith in the ability of our God.

God wants to perform a “dry bones” level miracle in this nation.  He is able and the time is ripe, but He has ordained to first move His people to pray for the miracle in faith.  We are praying for big miracles in America.  It is one thing to ask God to perform a miracle and heal a virus; another to ask Him to heal cancer; another to ask him to raise the dead; another to ask Him to raise the decaying dead like Lazarus.  But the situation that Ezekiel experienced was far worse;  he was asked whether God could breathe life again into not just one person but a whole nation of people that were dead, whose skin, flesh, and sinews had decayed to dust, and whose bones were scattered together in a valley.

In verses four through eight of the story, God tells Ezekiel to prophesy to the bones:

Again, He said to me, “Prophesy to these bones, and say to them, ‘O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord!  Thus says the Lord God to these bones:  “Surely I will cause breath to enter into you, and you shall live.  I will put sinews on you and bring flesh upon you, cover you with skin and put breath in you; and you shall live.  Then you shall know I am the Lord.”’”  So I prophesied as I was commanded; and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and suddenly a rattling; and the boned came together, bone to bone.  Indeed, as I looked, the sinews and the flesh came upon them, and the skin covered them over; but there was no breath in them.

In these verses God told Ezekiel to prophesy to the bones and tell them that – in the future – God would cause breath to enter them.  God said:  “I will (future tense) cause breath to enter you.”  Ezekiel obeyed God and at the conclusion of verse eight, the bones, sinews, flesh and skin have come together.  Like in Genesis 2:7 there is a body, but that body is still without life, because the breath of God has not yet entered the body.

In Ezekiel 37:9 God tells Ezekiel to prophesy (present tense) to the breath to enter the body and bring life now:

Also, He said to me, “Prophesy to the breath, prophesy, son of man, and say to the breath, ‘Thus says the Lord God:  “Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on these slain, that they may live.”’”  So I prophesied as He commended me, and breath came into them, and they lived, and stood upon their feet an exceedingly great army.”

God brings life through breath.  America needs life and so America must pray for God to breathe life into our dead situations.  In many instances, our dead situations have entered in through the wickedness that has been sanctioned through the Supreme Court.  But God has called His people to pray over these dead situations and – like Ezekiel did in verse seven – they have.  But now God is calling us to pray in the present tense – like Ezekiel did in verses nine and ten.  God is asking us to pray the breath forth from the four winds to breathe into this nation and into this Supreme Court so that these slain may live.

The Name “Alito” means “Breath”

It is significant that we are now in the midst of the appointment, confirmation and the coming investiture of Samuel Alito into the United States Supreme Court.  The Court through its decisions represents the areas of this nation that are most in need of the life of God.  We need God to breathe life into the Court.

Judge Samuel Alito’s name is interesting.  He is Italian and in Italian the name “Alito” means “breath.”  While it seems that Samuel Alito will be a good justice, like all of us – he will have his good days and his bad days.  Of course, God is not telling us to put our hope in any man, but rather He is telling us that now is the day that He wants to breathe life into the Supreme Court and this nation.  God is bringing renewal to this nation and He is bringing it through judicial renewal at the Supreme Court.

God is directing us to pray now for the breath of life to enter the Court.  God wants to send the breath, but He is asking us – like he asked Ezekiel – to tell the breath of life to enter this dead situation.  We should pray now against the powers and principalities that have ruled over the Court and, according to Ephesians 6:12, we should pull them down in the spirit now.

History has its contrasting seasons of laboring and victory.  Reagan endured a season of labor and spoke the fall of the Berlin Wall before it ever happened, but there came a day of victory when it actually fell in the now.  Likewise, generations labored against the Soviet Union, but there was a moment in time when it fell in the now.  For over a generation we Americans have prayed for renewal in American and for life to enter the Court – and our day of victory in the spirit is now.  Now is the day that God desires to breathe the breath of life into the Court and for the day of victory in the natural to come quickly.

The prayers of the saints have inflicted a devastating toll on the spiritual forces have held this nation in bondage by ruling over the Supreme Court.  The spiritual forces of wickedness that have reigned over this Nation through the Supreme Court are reeling like a dazed boxer.  The round after round after round pressing of intercessors has worn these forces down to the point that they are ready to fall to the canvas.  Now is not the time to fight as we normally fight.  Now is the time to go for the knock-out.  Now is the time to pray with ferocious force and confidence.

The Name “Samuel” means “Heard by God”

Judge Samuel Alito’s first name “Samuel” literally means “heard by God.”  In the Old Testament book of First Samuel, chapter one, there was a woman named Hannah whose womb was barren and without life.  Hannah was not satisfied with this curse of death and she asked God for life in her womb.  God heard her prayer and gave her a child and she named him “Samuel” because this name literally means: “heard by God.”

In America, we have been praying for renewal in this nation and like Hannah we have been praying for life in the womb.  We too have been “heard by God” and He is sending life to the womb and renewal to our nation through the Judiciary.

God is directing us to pray now for the breath of life to enter the Court.  Again, God is not telling us to put our confidence in Samuel Alito – but God is telling us to go for the victory in prayer now.  God wants to send the breath, but He is asking us – like he asked Ezekiel – to tell the breath of life to enter this dead situation.  We should pray now against the powers and principalities that have ruled over the Court and we should forcefully and with confidence pull them down now.

God is breathing life into America, and He has given us the honor of praying it forth.

Abba Father, hear our cries of despair and repentance as we see the dry bones everywhere in our world. We pray that you would pour out your HolY Spirit on us and teach us how to pray exceedingly abundantly. Let our anxiety, hopelessness and complacency turn into prayers of full repentance so that when God commands HIS WORD we say “Yes Lord here am I”.

As you raised up Your precious SON, Jesus, from the grave, we pray that you will raise up your people in these United States, who have been like Lazarus in the tomb, sealed in darkness. Father God, breathe new life into us and bring us out of the tomb of Darkness and out into Your Light and Truth.
Lord, miracles are not difficult for you and your word tells us we only need to ask. Lord as you bring us out of the tomb and into the Light may we see an awakening of our nation and a revival unlike any before. All Glory be to you God Almighty.

    1. Father, I choose, as an act of my will to invite the host of heaven to be the other part of our team. Thank You, Father, for sending them to keep us in all our ways and for sending them to war on our behalf. I take authority over all the power of the enemy that has held our nation in bondage by ruling over the Supreme Court. I call on the host of heaven to go and tear down every stronghold that the demonic forces have been ruling from in our Supreme Court. I call on the host of heaven to forcefully pull down the powers and principalities that have ruled over our nation’s Supreme Court so that they no longer have power to remain in Jesus’ name. Thank You, Father, for our authority in Christ; and thank you to the host for being faithful.

      Amen! 11
  2. Lord please help America be all that it can be. We have had times of darkness and times of light. Now we are in darkness, we need You Lord and You Light. People are calling out to You Lord. Hear our prayers and bring Your Light. Push back the darkness with Your mighty hand. I pray this in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

    Amen! 28
  3. We agree! Thank you for the breath of fresh air from Justice Alito! Blessings! We believe God’s will has been clear over the election. As in praying for healing, we need to keep praying for the manifestation to appear. We stand in faith and agreement for justice to return to America. ONE NATION UNDER GOD!

    Amen! 23
    1. Father, we pray in the name of your precious son, Yeshua, that you will breathe the breath of life into Justice Alito and the entire body of Supreme Court — each individual justice, and the joined body of the highest court in the land — that they will become a living being. May the breath you have placed in Justice Alito spread throughout the court, because he is Samuel, heard by God and a receiver of God’s breath.

      Amen! 19
  4. Our great God is hearing our prayers! Never have I seen so much prayer going up to the heavens by those who know their God. I have been involved in Christian ministry for years and I have never seen the stir to pray as is taking place this year. We must keep it up, it should be a way of life and not just when we need help from God. The church is waking up and it is about time!

    Amen! 23
  5. Twice this morning I have either read or heard the same story of Ezekiel and the dry bones. I praise GOD for this! I honestly have More clarity as to how to pray and join Intercessors for our country and ALL OF OUR LEADERS!!! Principalities and darkness have overwhelmed the “church” as we literally invited them to sup with us! Now we see why GOD DESTROYED KING SAUL! His disobedience in annihilating the enemy invited MORE SIN AND IDOLATRY INTO ISRAEL AS A NATION! In comparison, our “INCLUSIVENESS” has invited Witchcraft and extreme Arrogance into our midst! GOD used His prophet Samuel to tell Saul his Rebellion was As the sin of witchcraft! Personally, he rejected GOD’S word to him and PRIDEFULLY CHOSE his own way!!! Sounds so much like us! I honestly believe as the Saints go, thus does the Nation! We are the Salt and light in the world! How successful have we been at it? GOD MUST BE GLORIFIED IN HIS BODY ON EARTH!!! I see no better time than NOW! Ephesians 6 10-19 gives us An AWESOME DETAILED INSIGHT OF THE WAR AND HOW WE DEFEAT THE FORCES FIGHTING AGAINST US LIKE PREPARED BATTLE-READY SOLDIERS!!! GOD BLESS YOU ALL WITH SHALOM PEACE AS WE GO SLAY SOME GIANTS! One whose calls itself “DOMINION!”

    Amen! 32
  6. Thank and praise you, Lord, that you are moving on behalf of our nation. We desperately need revival. Although we may not deserve it, we do need it badly. Too many people have created their own gods, which is an abomination to You. Please forgive us for abandoning our first love, and allowing ourselves to be so easily distracted by the temporary things of the world. Please send revival to us. We are hungry for righteousness!

    Amen! 28
  7. Ephesians 6:10-17 (NIV)

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

    Amen! 22
  8. This is interesting since the Lord had me in Intercession for several hours over the count in Georgia. When the breakthrough came He gave me the verse of the unjust judge saying ,I will answer this woman lest she persist in annoying me.” Shortly after, the vision had me with friends relaxed on their beautiful farm with the corn head high and the field being tilled. Samuel Alito came walking toward me and said, “I will ponder this situation.” I felt the Lord was assuring me the Supreme Court would be involved in the final outcome in Georgia.

    Amen! 25
    1. “And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?” Luke 18: 7-8

Father, hear the cries of your church and the intercessors you have called. Our cries are for your merciful justice that YOU would be honored, that Christ will reign as our sovereign King, and that the powers of darkness, rulers of the air, and evil forces that grip our nation will be cast off so that the lost would be resurrected as a new creation, redeemed in Christ, and blessed to do the good works prepared for them. Please do not delay but be swift and sudden in shining the light of Christ upon the darkness.

      Amen! 22
  9. First, thank you for running this article again. It helps to not only redirect our prayers but it is God inspired and gives intercessors as well as the overall body of believers encouragement.
Lord God – You alone are the Great I Am. You have the power to give life…to restore life…to bring new life to a nation. There is none like You Lord.
Breathe new life into our nation. Let your Holy Spirit pour over our nation the new breath of life we so desperately need and seek. Let that new breath of life stiffen our resolve to praise, seek, decree and declare your word. Let Your breath of renewed life wipe away our moments of doubt. Let Your breath of life resurrect the dry bones that we, the body of believers of Christ… have allowed to become a norm in our churches.
We desire and yearn that you would perform CPR on so many of us that need You to start our hearts again.
In your name we pray amen.

    Amen! 34
  10. Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on America, that she may live! Please lay Your hand of mercy upon us and restore us as one nation under God Almighty! Please lay Your hand upon every judge in this nation so that they will rule justly and that they will have boldness and courage to do what is right. Let them know that You are the Judge of judges and they will be held accountable to You! Thank You, Jesus!!!

    Amen! 54
    1. Amen and Amen‼️
Father God, we plead the blood of Jesus over every justice on the United States Supreme Court. We pray for 9-0 rulings establishing Your justice and righteousness in America.

      Hallelujah ‼️

      Amen! 2

We refuse to be weary in well doing…we believe Gods strength is made perfect in our weakness….thank you for death to be swallowed up in victory. In Jesus Name i pray

    Amen! 41
  12. Father, breathe Your life into this nation again. We are dry, worn, and faithless but desire to see You move with power and strength across this land. Only You can do that. As we fight against the godlessness that infiltrates every part of this country, we grow weary and need You to move and breathe a fresh life and anointing on us. Give us wisdom, boldness, and confidence to proclaim Your love, mercy, and life and to those who need to hear Your voice and Your words. Help us to bring back that godly life to our darkened communities.

    Amen! 42
  13. Father God you are the light in the darkness, we cry out to you to breath life into the darkness surrounding us. Dry bones awaken to the calling of our Father. Bring justice to all the evil that surrounds us. Pour out the fear of the Lord over our country. Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we will trust in the Lord our God, our deliverer! Tears rolling down my cheeks…let us not grow weary! We look to you our waymaker! Our light in the darkness. We love you Father God cleanse us from this wickedness! Speak life into these dry bones…bring back our Country that was founded in “In God we Trust”

    Amen! 49

LORD GOD, for such a time as this. Please activate Your righteous ranks on earth and empower them by Your Spirit to fulfill the tasks that You have appointed them to do. Please give them the victory.

And please illuminate for us, Your intercessors, the tasks that You would have US do as Your vessels of light and life in this culture of dark, dead, and dried bones!

We lament the lack of leadership of many displayed by many who claim to be the mouthpiece of Your church and kingdom — as well as the spirits of deception and delirium so present in all too many congregations — and ask that You raise up new leaders who will truly be after Your own heart.

    In Jesus’ name.

    Amen! 56
  16. My dear Lord Jesus, how I thank You dear Lord for changing our lives thru the power of the Holy Spirit, and giving us eternal life. Thank You, dear Jesus, for Justice Alito. May the Lord continue to bless him with Your Divine Wisdom as he has such an extreme difficult job to do. Bless them all with Your peace and grace as they serve.

    Amen! 54
