During the night of July 22 – 23, from 7:00 p.m. till 7:00 a.m. a significant event is scheduled to take place in Athens, TX, a small town approximately 80 miles southeast of Dallas. It is called A Night For Life, an all-night worship and prayer “burn” featuring nationally known worship leader Sean Feucht and a bevy of local leaders. Intercessors For America is live-streaming the event, and more than 20 organizations have partnered with local leaders to make it happen.

A Night For Life is the brainchild of Cynthia Dunbar, Board member of IFA and Executive Director of Awakening Arise, a movement called into being to proclaim and promote life from the womb to the tomb. Says Dunbar:

“The Lord dropped into my spirit to do A NIGHT FOR LIFE. This was completely divine; there was no natural inspiration. The exact order was, “I want you to do A NIGHT FOR LIFE on July 22nd – 23rd from dusk to dawn. I want the children of light to diffuse the darkness and I want the dominion of death to bow the knee to the PERSON OF LIFE!”

This 12-hour worship celebration of The Person of Life is much more than a stand-alone event. Prophetic messages as far back as 2018 have indicated that a spiritual awakening will proceed from Athens and move through the surrounding counties into East Texas.

If that sounds somewhat familiar, it is more or less exactly what happened in the St. Croix Valley area of Eastern Minnesota and Western Wisconsin in April of this year, when a 12-hour prayer conference was held to launch a  sustained prayer initiative to overcome the darkness and welcome a spiritual awakening in the area. That event, too, had been prophesied, as long ago as 1948, to touch off a regional revival. The two-county area of Pine and Burnett had come under heavy oppression by forces of evil following initial periods of revival that eventually faded and gave way to strongholds of evil spread by territorial spirits that moved into the area. The time had come to reverse that.

Athens and its surrounding area, Henderson County, have a spiritual history that bears resemblance to that of the St. Croix Valley. According to research compiled by Tarah Day, prayer coordinator and prophetic intercessor, Athens is the hometown of Dr. Curtis Boyd, called “The Grandfather of Abortion”. He is said to have facilitated 10,000 + abortions in the city before moving to Dallas and starting the first “legal” abortion clinic in Texas after Roe was passed on Jan. 22, 1973. Many of the abortions held in the city were on women that came from across the nation, referred by their pastors.

Several centuries before that, East Texas and Henderson County were the home of the Caddo Nation until disease and settlers pushed them toward Oklahoma. They were succeeded by clans of the Cherokee and Kickapoo nations who were allowed to farm the land before they, too, were forced out of the area. Similar to what happened to the Ojibwe nations of Eastern Minnesota and Western Wisconsin, atrocities were committed that caused deep wounds against the white man and his religion. Those run deep to this day.

In the late 1800s revivals began to break out in the area, but after they waned, darkness moved in, which is precisely what happened in the St. Croix Valley area, almost simultaneously. Witchcraft, Satanism, Free Masonry, and humanism moved in followed eventually by abortion with the aforementioned Dr. Boyd, along with an office of Planned Parenthood he established in the courthouse in the 1960s in his capacity of County Health Officer. Local prayer leaders have characterized the spirit that hangs over the area as a spirit of death rooted in the massacres of Native American nations and, in more recent times, the abortion of thousands of unborn children.

That is why A Night For Life is so significant. It is not a political rally or an ideological celebration. It is pure worship and prayer. Its purpose is to exalt the God of Life and proclaim Him as the rightful King and Ruler of the area, serving notice to the forces of darkness that the authority they have usurped is not theirs.  Cynthia and Tarah and their fellow leaders are speaking of a “new day” over the city of Athens and even believe it will be given a new name in accordance with Isaiah 62:4. since Athens received its first name to celebrate Greek (and ungodly) wisdom and enlightenment.

For that reason, we are calling upon IFA’s community of intercessors around the nation to form a 12-hour Canopy of Prayer over this event, like there was at the St. Croix Valley event, while many other worshippers and prayer warriors join together on-site to confront the forces of darkness head-on and restore the supremacy of Christ to its rightful place.

After finishing where I left off in Western Wisconsin and having been called in as an advisor to the prayer leadership of A Night For Life, I am convinced that God is in the process of preparing ignition points for spiritual awakening in rural areas and small towns around the USA where revivals once took place and died down, and the wells of those revivals are ready to be re-dug. And I believe that those revivals we so desperately need in our day will be touched off and sustained not only by desperate heartfelt desire but also by strategic prayer and spiritual warfare because they involve areas where Satan has moved in with territorial spirits, usurped power, and brought oppression and death.

4. Those attending virtually, just use the Prayer Guide you’ll receive to pray over the event whenever you can. There are no designated hourly slots to sign up. We do encourage some to burn the midnight oil and cover the overnight hours in prayer!

As you read this, please be in prayer as well throughout the week for the event preparation, its leaders, and participants as the time draws near. God has already moved with unprecedented unity among area churches and organizations coming together. Satan is also already stirring with spiritual attacks on the organizers and will no doubt do his best to derail the event. Join me in upholding A Night For Life, Cynthia, Tarah, Sean Feucht, and local pastors and leaders in prayer:

“Father, we join our hearts across the nation to cover A Night for Life in prayer. We pray for your protection and anointing on Cynthia, Tarah, Sean, and local organizers as they finalize logistics. We ask that you command the hosts of heaven to come and do battle in Athens and Henderson County as your children gather together to worship, pray, and proclaim Christ as King. We pray for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit into every part of the worship event and ask that it will touch off the revival that has been prophesied. And we pray that you prepare more places around our nations for the wells of revivals past to be re-dug and ignite new revivals like never before. Awaken our nation to life. All life – your design for life on earth and life eternal. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.”
