I Prayed have prayed
Lord, we pray that You would set D.C. on fire with Your Holy Spirit and that it would flow to the entire nation.

Last week, the community that follows this D.C. Insider column prayed for Capitol Hill, for members of Congress to have hope and courage in the midst of pitched battle for our country. We thanked God that many members are beginning to recognize that we need God’s divine wisdom to solve our nation’s problems, that we can’t figure it all out by ourselves.

This week, we have a new assignment.

Insider Intercessory Intelligence

I spoke with a staffer on Capitol Hill, a prophetic intercessor who is on the front lines in the fight for the future of our nation. This person gave firsthand insight for our community of intercessors to engage in prayer.

Staffers basically live more at the hill than they do at home…I would pray, send laborers into the Hill. This idea of serving our country…Send laborers to the Hill. That is always my number one. Send the laborers to this Hill that would be willing to share the gospel whether it’s with a member, a staffer or a janitor, that the gospel would be preached to the ends of the Hill because the Hill reaches the ends of the nation.

If you reach the Hill, you reach the nation. If a move of God were to impact the Hill… the Hill represents every state, and I think that’s so powerful. If we impact every state…I see it as a Hill and water flows down the Hill. There’s nothing it won’t touch if you impact the top to the bottom.

My source went on to point out that Washington, D.C. has people from all over the nation who come for a few years and go back home. We also have people come from all over the world. If D.C. was set on fire, those who come could take that fire back home with them and set fires all over the nation and the world.

But there’s also something about bottom to top, so that’s why I’m so passionate about the workers who work here, staff, interns, even the intern Bible study I’m a part of, seeing them see that Jesus is real, that they can stand up for what the Word of God says, teaching them how to stand up for those beliefs in the workplace. Knowing that when they leave ….they are going to their community and impacting the nation. We have staffers coming from Oregon to California…to Pennsylvania to New York. Every single state is represented, but they only stay in D.C. for so long unless they become a bureaucrat. They normally go back to their places, but it’s like man, if the Hill became this place of revival, where people come to life here. We are sending torches, torchbearers to every state in the nation and our nation affects the nations of the world so…I just see there’s something to fight for here.

I also spoke to a different Capitol Hill staffer who recently started a Bible study on the Hill, and I personally know of multiple House Churches that have started amongst Capitol Hill staffers. On top of that, I know of multiple women who have members of Congress meet together to worship and pray. God is working in Washington, D.C., no matter what we read on the news!

The Lord is always working.

As Jesus said, “My Father is working until now, and I Myself am working.” (John 5:17)

Don’t you know that the Enemy is always sending people to Washington, D.C. to enact his kingdom of darkness? He has a steady stream of servants, some unwitting and others not, who are tearing down the foundations of this nation.

God has called his servants, especially young people around the nation, to move to D.C. to influence our nation for good and to bring the Kingdom of God. But how will they go, let alone thrive, if the intercessors do not hold them up in prayer?

With this in mind, let us pray:

Father, we ask that you send laborers into the harvest! Send your called ones to carry your Kingdom to Capitol Hill, and preserve them from corruption and spiritual attack once they are there.

Jesus, we pray also that you would protect the laborers who you have already sent to Capitol Hill. Keep them strong and pure of heart, fully connected to you, the Word of God, and Christian community.

Lord, we pray for Bible studies and House Churches you have raised up on Capitol Hill. We ask that you release your Presence and bring healings, salvations, deliverances, and a full release of your Kingdom on Capitol Hill for janitors, interns, staffers, members and anyone else who works there.

Verses to press into as you intercede on this issue:

“And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.  Then he said to his disciples, ‘The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few;  therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.’” -John 9:35-38

“But He answered them, My Father is working until now, and I Myself am working.’” -John 5:17

“…my people who are called by My name humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14

Will you commit to pray for Capitol Hill staffers to come to know Jesus and take the Gospel to the entire nation?

Comment> Casey, You always do such a good jobs with your articles. For years I did a lot of volunteering for a congresswomen. I know it is a rough job being a staffer. I am going to take the IFA sheet for praying for our state and write on it pray for Michigan staffers In Washington DC. I pray for my Senators and Congresswomen never thought to pray for the staffers..If we individually prayed for the staffers working in DC from our state it would make a difference. Also when I pray for my state senator and legislator I am going to start remembering to pray for their staffers too. Thanks Casey

It has been my fervent prayer, that revival would indeed break out in Washington D.C. We SO desperately need for God’s Word, and scriptural principles, to prevail in our nation’s capitol. The idea of the spread of revival throughout America, and the rest of the world is So needed. We need to humble ourselves, repent of our self-centerdness, walk in the Light as He is in the Light, and pray for the Lord to bless our land with revival. It is my hope and prayer that it begins where it is most desperately needed, in our nation’s capitol. Lord, please bring this revival to pass. Turn our hearts to You and Your ways. In Jesus’ name.

I commit to pray for the staffers on the Hill. And for the churches in the DC area and the interdenominational Christian groups who provide direct spiritual support. I also pray for us constituents with Godly men and women in Congress that we pray for them and contact them about our support.
