House Republican leadership pulled two bills reforming the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act from the floor, as Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., faced backlash for allowing two bills to be introduced on the surveillance law.
Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., a member of the House Rules Committee, confirmed to the Washington Examiner late Monday evening that neither of the bills reforming Section 702 would come to the floor for a vote this week. From Just the News.

The House Intelligence Committee’s FISA “Reform” Bill, known as the FRRA, is set to significantly expand the scope of entities required to assist in FISA 702 surveillance. This expansion is due to a change in the definition of “electronic communication service providers” (ECSPs), potentially implicating a wider range of businesses and individuals in surveillance activities. Critically, the bill could allow the government warrantless access to nearly any communication system in America.
Gotein stated that under the proposed bill, entities with access to communication-transmitting equipment, like Wi-Fi routers in “hotels, libraries, coffee shops,” could be “forced to serve as surrogate spies.” She stated that this is not a theoretical concern but a significant issue, as even FISA Court amici have publicly cautioned against this provision.

Does this apply to my personal Wi-Fi at home, or just to public places like libraries and coffee shops?
If this is TRUE than SOTH, Mike Johnson, should be ASHAMED of himself. I doubt that is another law that has been contorted, distorted and abused to the degree that section 702 has been.
You may well call me an Islamophobe, but I know in my heart where the threat to our way of life is coming from.

There might be some of us who might say, “I have nothing to hide!” This could be said because of a high level of righteousness. That would have been fine 50 years ago, but there are entities in our government who would come against us JUST for being righteous! Therefore, it was very good to have this brought before us just now AND for a bit of delay of vote so that righteous people can PRAY. So PRAY!

Please do not allow this bill to pass allowing the privacy of law abiding Americans to be invaded. There is no way to view this bill except that it allows Hotels, libraries, coffee shops, and other places that offer Wi-Fi … to their customers could be forced to serve as surrogate spies. They could be required to configure their systems that will allow carious persons, including government officials access to entire streams of communications.

This article is a bit confusing. I understand the concern, but it begins by saying it’s been pulled by Johnson. Then the rest of the article says it may be up for a vote today, causing confusion. Which is it? And if it’s up for a vote soon, why isn’t there a take action link?
