I Prayed have prayed
Father, strengthen and protect believers suffering persecution around the world, especially Jimmy Lai, Pastor Ezra Jin, and imprisoned Christians in China. Give them courage, peace, and hope, and soften the hearts of leaders in power to choose justice and mercy.

President Donald Trump said Chinese leader Xi Jinping is hesitant to release imprisoned Christian Jimmy Lai, a pro-democracy newspaper publisher.

Pray for your fellow intercessor.

Trump told reporters he spoke with Xi during the Beijing state visit about imprisoned Christian Pastor Ezra Jin and said Xi was “giving very serious consideration” to his release.

Jin, the pastor of Zion Church, which was founded in Beijing, was detained in November 2025. He is one of 18 members of the church who are currently imprisoned in China, his daughter said.

But the president expressed less confidence about the release of Lai.

“I discussed Jimmy,” Trump said. “It’s a tougher one. I did bring it up. It’s a tough one. For him it’s a tougher one.”

Jimmy Lai is a Hong Kong businessman who founded the pro-democracy newspaper Apple Daily.

“[Xi] told me, and I don’t want to mislead anybody,” Trump said. “He said Jimmy Lai is a tough one for him. He went through a lot, right or wrong, went through a lot. So, he told me that would be a tough one. He said he’s going to strongly consider the pastor.”

In February, 78-year-old Lai was sentenced to 20 years in prison, meaning he will probably die in jail if he is not released. He was convicted in December on two counts of conspiring to collude with foreign forces and a charge of conspiracy to publish seditious materials.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio has condemned Lai’s sentence.

“The Hong Kong High Court’s decision to sentence Jimmy Lai to 20 years is an unjust and tragic conclusion to this case,” Rubio said in a statement.

“It shows the world that Beijing will go to extraordinary lengths to silence those who advocate fundamental freedoms in Hong Kong, casting aside the international commitments Beijing made in the 1984 Sino-British Joint Declaration,” he added.

Rubio also urged authorities to grant Lai humanitarian parole, arguing that Lai and his family “have suffered enough.”

Leading up to Trump’s visit to Beijing, Rep. Chris Smith, R-N.J., and Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., led 105 members of Congress in penning a letter urging Trump to fight for “Jimmy Lai’s full and unconditional release when meeting with President Xi at the upcoming summit.”

Scott praised Trump for “doing everything he can to get Jimmy Lai free.”

“Sometimes doing the right things means having to negotiate with an absolutely despicable dictator like Xi,” Scott told The Daily Signal. “Jimmy is 78, diabetic, and is suffering in solitary confinement only because he believes in freedom. We can’t give up. I’m going to keep fighting for Jimmy’s release no matter what it takes.”

The Prisoner ‘s prayer
Ps. 140
Deliver me, O Lord, from the evil man, preserve me from the violent man: Which imagine mischief in their hearts; continually are they gathered together for war. They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent; adders poison is under their lips. Keep me, O Lord, from the hands of the wicked; Preserve me from the violent man; who have purposed to overthrow my goings. The proud have hidden a snare for me, and cords; They have spread a net by the way side; They have set gins for me. I said unto the Lord, Thou art my God, , hear the voice of my supplications!!! Thou hast covered my head in the day of battle.. Grant not, O Lord, the desires of the wicked; further not his wicked device, lest they exalt themselves. As for the heads of them that compass me about, let the mischief of their own lips, cover them Let the burning coals fall upon them, let them be cast into the fire; into deep pits, that they rise not. Let not an evil speaker be established in the world; evil shall hunt the violent man to overthrow him. .I know that the Lord will maintain the cause of the afflicted, and the right of the poor.. Surely the righteous shall give thanks unto thy name, the upright shall dwell in God’s presence. May Jesus CRUSH HIS ENEMIES UNDERNEATH HIS FEET, TODAY AMEN

Lord we come to you today, thankful for the freedom to worship Jesus openly, so far, in the USA. We have mostly micro persecution here, and looking at the UK we can see what is headed to us. Chinese people’s are NOT free to worship without fear or possible imprisonment. Similar to many nations where faith in Jesus is a cause for scrutiny and even death. We ask for you to encamp Armies of Angels around the righteous, even if they end up in prison. We pray for churches to thrive, in spite of threat. We ask for the cold hearts that give birth to dictators, to soften supernaturally. Give dreams to Xi, Putin and other dictators. They fear Christians because they see Jesus as another threat to their power and control. Let them shake with fear and awe over your name, before it is too late. We ask for your word to run like wildfire through prisons, keep pastor and his congregation healthy and hopeful, let Pastor be removed form isolation and treated for his diabetes. We ask for mercy and pray we will be ever grateful and fight for, the ability to sing read scriptures. We await a day when all will be made new. 🙌 Help us all t remain strong and persevere,.to finish the race well. In Jesus’s name we 🙏🏻

Lord God, thank you for the courage of Pres. Trump to talk sensitive matter like the imprisoned Christians in China. But You Lord God have the power to touch hearts. Please soften the heart of the leaders of China to see that Christians are not threat to the country. We pray for your spirit to encourage our brothers and sisters who are suffering for their faith in China and other countries. We pray for the release of Brothers Jin, Lai, Wang Yi (https://chinaaid.org/prisoners/pastor-wang-yi/) and others. Bless them and encourage their families in this time of difficulties. Please help many Christians to remember our brothers and sisters who are imprisoned for their faith. In your name Jesus, we pray, amen!
