With President Trump hospitalized at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center as he battles COVID-19, Wednesday’s debate between Vice President Mike Pence and Democratic vice presidential nominee Sen. Kamala Harris is surging in importance.
“I think this is an incredibly important vice presidential debate, maybe the most important ever,” emphasized longtime political scientist Wayne Lesperance, vice president of academic affairs at New England College. . . .
The debate is set to take place Wednesday night at 9 p.m. ET at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah. There was already heightened interest in the faceoff due to the ages of the two standard bearers. The president’s 74 and Biden’s 77. There’s plenty of speculation that Biden wouldn’t run for a second term in the White House if he wins the presidential election. (Excerpt from Fox News.)
[T]he one and only scheduled vice presidential debate between Mike Pence and Kamala Harris could be a show-stopper.
Why? Because voters may finally get to see the real Kamala Harris, who has ducked taking a stand on critical issues and has, like Joe Biden, routinely refused to answer questions on the campaign trail. The performance of the California senator could well impact the trajectory of the race. . . .
Biden’s frequent lapses are alarming and possibly explain why the former VP hid out in his basement for so many months.
That puts the spotlight on Harris.
Like her running mate, the senator is campaigning as a moderate, though, like Biden, she is no such thing. In 2019 GovTrack scored her “the most liberal” among all senators, and noted that she “joined bipartisan bills the least often compared to Senate Democrats.”
Also, like Biden, Harris’ positions on numerous issues, like law and order, appear as fluid as milk. . . .
There are plenty of issues – gun control, “Medicare-for-all” and the Green New Deal, for instance – on which Harris has waffled. If Susan Page pins her down, as she should, the race could shift. That would be a real October surprise.

I pray that more people would watch and see what is really going on in the minds of both parties. Father, You want us (the church( to walk up and pray and not criticize either parties, but to be aware of how the enemy uses people to help or destroy America. Abba, I pray for the salvation of those who do not know You. I pray that Holy Spirit will bring strong convictions upon those who want to hurt Americans and think that murdering babies is alright with you. Lord, VP Pence has the wisdom of heaven. Kamala Harris spews the poison of bitterness when she speaks. She was so unkind to Justice Kavanaugh. May she not be allowed to slander President Trump or VP Pence. May her untrue, unkind words fall to the ground with no effect. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Lord I pray that your hand be upon us in mercy, not judgement. We have as a nation allowed the passage of laws that have in fact mocked your Holy Word. We know that your word speaks against homosexuality. We know it is wrong to take innocent lives, yet abortion is a right. Lord give us courage to rise us and say. ” this evil is wrong’ God Almighty show your mercy in placing into political positions men and women who will honor you and obey your word.
Heavenly Father, we come before you knowing that You are a good and trustworthy God, with whom, nothing is impossible. Let Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Lord we pray that You give Your chosen candidate protection in the debates. Protection from the schemes of the enemy. Protection from all forms of witchcraft. Protection from illness. Protection from lies and false accusations. We plead the blood of Jesus over Your candidate as You protect him from all the enemy’s attacks and deceptions from every angle. And we pray that he be filled with Your peace as Your Holy Spirit fills, guides, and speaks through him.
May it be truly clear where each candidate’s party will lead America; and what our future would be, if elected. We pray for eyes and ears to be opened all over America to the deception that has already been taking place. Let us see what each candidate truly believes about the constitution and our freedoms. Open the eyes of all to truly understand all that is at stake. Especially let the truth be fully known and understood concerning our freedom of religion and how each party will affect Christianity. Let Christians in America have the wisdom, knowledge, understanding, and discernment to see any obstacles that want to block our freedom of religious conscience and ability to truly obey and put You first.
Forgive us for the failures and mistakes we’ve made in this amazing, free, country You’ve given us. Forgive us for taking the freedom You’ve blessed us with for granted. Forgive us for the lukewarmth that has allowed Satan to gain so much territory. Forgive us for the passivity that has let the Youth be indoctrinated against You and Your ways. Forgive us for any hardness of heart, prejudice of any kind from all sides, and failure to unite in the way Your Word instructs us to do. Forgive us for the years that have been wasted. This is a prayer I wish all could see and pray. It cuts to the core of every “surface issue” and is not addressing the superficial issues of a certain candidate. It is a plea for the true heart of the issue – deceit/un-forgiveness/rebellion.

I want to say amen and do so with my understanding of the phrase “who You made her to be”. I pray that Kamala’s eyes be opened to her sins and that she would see herself as God sees her. Harris is a trained in debate. She went to law school to learn how to win in debate. However, God is truth and I pray that the crafty senator, wise in her own eyes would be exposed by the Living God.

The debates are not in control of the outcome of the election. The Holy One of Israel Who Is, Sovereign LORD will determine who will serve as POTUS just as He did in 2016. Lord, we already know that Vice-President Pence is your faithful servant and is a wise and gifted leader– reasons why President Trump selected him for this position. He was chosen by the President as someone who would make a good President if the need ever arose to take President Trump’s place. The President made a wise choice and one that he believed was good for the country.
Not so, regarding Kamala Harris. She is not yielded to the Lord and she was not chosen to run for this position for these reasons, but for quite the opposite!
So we know that your smile is on our Vice-President. He honors you.
Please embolden him and place your words in his mouth. We pray that you let the American people see the difference between night and day as this debate is presented to the country. He is your mouthpiece tomorrow night, Lord. Please open the eyes of the American people to your truths throughout this debate as well as to the untruths of the other side. And may Kamala Harris take something away from this debate that will help her to begin to see you, Lord, in the best way that only you know how to do!
