As senators on both sides push for gun control, we must pray that our rights are not infringed in the name of safety.
From Insider. After weeks of discussions, a bipartisan group of Senate negotiators on Sunday released an outline for gun reform legislation in the wake of deadly mass shootings in Buffalo, NY, and Uvalde, Texas, according to NBC News.
Join others crying out to the Lord day and night.
The prospective deal represents a major breakthrough in gun reform, as it includes incentives for states to create red flag laws, which generally allow police to temporarily seize guns from individuals who are a threat to themselves or others. The agreement also increases funding for mental health services and provides additional money to be used to strengthen school security.
The agreement also would allow the availability of juvenile records of gun purchases who are under 21 years old when they are subject to background checks.
Democratic Sen. Chris Murphy of Connecticut, one of the most prominent gun control advocates in Congress, and Republican Sen. John Cornyn of Texas, a conservative lawmaker who has spoken about needing to ensure that Second Amendment rights are not infringed upon, have been the lead negotiators of the 20-member Senate group during their lengthy talks….
The proposal is less aggressive than what most Democrats sought, as it does not include an assault weapons ban, but the agreement might allow a potential bill to pass the upper chamber with at least 60 votes and withstand a legislative filibuster….
President Joe Biden on Sunday heralded the agreement despite his hopes for more sweeping legislation….

They must leave our Constitutional gun issue alone-totally and completely. They do reforms. They do more reforms. This is a way they have hit on to confiscate guns completely. It is fully intentional to take guns away from Americans. Leave the gun issue alone! THIS IS NOT GUN REFORM . It is a back-door way to take them. They have NO intention of reforming anything. We don’t need them reformed. We need PEOPLE reformed!
The designation AR in regards to guns DOES NOT mean assault rifle or automatic rifle! It stands for ArmaLite Rifle; ArmaLite is the manufacturer. In fact, many are tricked out 22 caliber rifles. People need to know the facts.
And I ask you Lord that the children be kept safe.
Dear Lord I pray for your perfect will be done in this situation. I do not have any wisdom of what to ask, but you have wisdom concerning this. Let your wisdom prevail in the conversations the leaders have. I do ask that our constitutional amendment will
not be taken away. Thank you.
Guns for war should be banned, not rifles or pistols. It is not guns that kill, it is the criminals. And they are not held accountable…throw them in prison and don’t give them luxury treatment. Bring back the chain gangs and hard labor.

Thank you for our freedoms that we have from our constitution; Lord we ask that you would protect them from being taken away. Lord we look first to you for protection, guide and lead those who have the ability to keep our rights in place that we can protect ourselves with a gun if necessary. We do ask you to keep them out of the hands of anyone who wishes to use them to harm or murder another person.
I will start by saying that I don’t like guns, and would be happy if there were no guns at all, even among warring nations. We do not need increasingly efficient ways of killing each other.
That said, I have two observations. First, the excessive shootings have two underlying reasons – first, the continual erosions of family and ethical/moral values towards an “anything goes” type of society, and second, the intense desire of some (cannot name them because the movers and shakers prefer to remain out of attention) to gradually but effectively take guns from citizens. The shootings will continue and intensify until that is accomplished.
One solution would be to take weapons equally away from citizens, police, and domestic military, retaining the balance that exists when all are equally armed. That would raise the question of what to do with the criminal element that manages to evade laws, but perhaps that problem would be easier to deal with than heavily armed governmental forces and an unarmed public. The founders gave the public the right to bear arms for a reason, having gone through the tyranny of armed military and unarmed public in Britain, and having realized the effectiveness of an armed public being called upon when necessary.
I think we have to stop the baseless shootings (murder) of people; I also think we need to THINK DEEPLY about how, and not simply respond with knee-jerk reactions to outrages. More of us need to start thinking. Too few of us are actually doing that.
Red flag laws are wrong, unconstitutional, and provide search and seizure based only on an anonymous accusation. Red flag laws violate the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution, the 4th Amendment, and the 6th Amendment (confronted with witnesses against the accused) at a minimum. Red Flag laws will most likely be used to disarm law-abiding American citizens.
This situation may need an action item. Does the red flag law open the door to confiscation of our guns and eventually our right to bear arms? This concerns me greatly. Keep watch. Preserve our rights, Lord. Help us, Lord, to discern right from wrong regarding this bill. Amen
History shows that gun registration will lead to confiscation . Most gun control advocates are appallingly ignorant of firearms and their lawful use. Their claims are ridiculous. Also if a person can enter the military at 18 be trained and armed and sent into combat yet they can not legally drink a beer or buy tobacco is hypocrisy at its worst. Criminals do not care about laws and generally go to black market sources for their weapons. In America there are over 500 million firearms in private hands , 20 million are AR 15 sporting rifles. The liberals want confiscation yet they do not support incarceration for criminals who use firearms with no regard for safety.
Remember once the Second Amendment is weakened, what other Amendment is next? The First ? The Fourth ? The Fifth ? Be careful.what you pray for as you may not be able to deal with the unexpected consequences of your prayer being answered.
