From The Epoch Times: Senator Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) on Feb. 28 vowed to introduce legislation that will reopen energy production in the United States “full throttle” as the cost of oil continues to skyrocket amid record inflation and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Announcing the legislation, dubbed The American Energy Independence Act of 2022, Hawley said on Twitter that the bill will “reverse President Biden’s shutdown of the American energy sector and return American energy to full production.”
“Tomorrow, I will introduce legislation in the Senate to reopen American energy production full throttle and reverse Joe Biden’s disastrous capitulation to our enemies,” Hawley said.
The bill comes as oil prices surged above the $100 per barrel mark on Feb. 23 after Russian President Vladimir Putin announced in a televised address that a military operation was set to get underway in Ukraine. The last time the price of oil rose over $100 per barrel was in 2014.
Meanwhile, gas and energy prices have steadily been rising in the United States where total domestic gasoline stocks have declined and demand for gas has increased, with experts warning that Americans could face more pain ahead at gasoline pumps…
Amid concerns over prices that look set to increase further, Hawley says his bill will ensure that the United States achieves “full energy independence and low energy costs for its citizens” and makes such a move an official policy.
It would also “instruct federal agencies to identify and rescind existing regulations that have the effect of reducing American energy independence,” and prohibit new rules that reduce energy security or raise energy prices, as well as direct agencies to work towards achieving “energy independence” by 2024.
The bill also proposes defunding contributions by the United States to any provisions of the Paris Climate Agreement, easing regulatory burdens on energy companies involved in fracking, and lowering the “social cost of carbon” to $0 per ton to focus government standards on boosting domestic energy production as opposed to prioritizing the U.N.’s climate change goals.
Finally, it would “rescind the Biden Administration’s moratorium on oil and natural gas leases on public lands,” and restore the permit for the Keystone XL Pipeline that runs between Canada and the United States after it was canceled by the Biden Administration last year, citing predicted impacts of climate change.
“The Biden Administration’s energy priorities are completely backwards and now working Americans are paying the price,” Hawley said in a statement. “The United States cannot afford to be energy dependent on our enemies. We must reopen domestic energy production full throttle, restore our energy independence, and reverse this policy of American energy surrender.”

I’ve been watching Senator Hawley for a long time. His heart is set upon Jesus and the American people. If he says he’s going to do something, he does it. When he gives his word, you can count on it. He has proven himself. So now God has given him a great opportunity for America’s energy independence. Think he’ll pour himself into it? Yes, most definitely.

I agree with Hawley. Depending on other countries for fuel , especially Russia, is dangerous. I’m not sure about pipeline either. Not sure I’m fully informed about all of it.
GREAT IDEAS but very challenging to pass with Biden, Harris, and Pelosi on the scene. That said: the only chance for victory is the hand of God involved. I pray God will provide the victory and keep his hand upon Josh Hawley to be intuitive of God’s will and instrumental in the ways God would choose to use Mr. Hawley.

We back Sen. Hawley 150%. I would encourage “everyone in agreement” that supports this to do one very important follow up – contact your senators and tell them that you agree with this common sense policy and that since that senator “works for you, that you both expectand demand” that they support this common sense legislation “as it is written”. (Also please let Sen. Hawley know that you support him by email or phone) Also let your senators know you WILL hold them accountable for any ‘lack of support ‘ or ‘attempted changes’ to this legislation. We have to challenge our government officials vigorously and we MUST hold them accountable. This is also part of being “salt”.
You then can please share this with others on a wide scale.

When Biden shut down the Keystone XL, he said he planned new jobs for the people laid off , to work in the infrastructure jobs that would come with the Build Back Better agenda. Now that that is NOT going forward, what does he have to say to the thousands that lost their jobs with no replacements! I’m sure many have found jobs since the shutdown, because they have to eat, etc But where’s the reckoning on the failed plan? No accountability. I wish someone would ask him some of these things…

Because there are people that I do not know Christ And/or knowingly they turn their back on His message. There are those who not only do not believe in God they are willing servants to great evil and they want your stuff, your life, your soul. I believe I’m not the only one thinking this is the right course to take TODAY! Put people back to work and bring oil prices down to reality. AMEN… AMEN… AMEN!!! If my electric bill continues to climb, I don’t know how I’ll pay it. It has more than doubled in less than a year. They have added a power cost adjustment each month to our electric bill which doubled beginning in Jan of this year. Going from $17 to $19 per month to $32 to $35 per month. I live on a very small fixed income and it seems harder and harder to make ends meet each month. I could not make it at all if I didn’t have the LORD.

Biden has “broken” everything that was fixed and our energy independence is just one example of this. When he took office we were exporting oil and now we are importing it from our enemies – which is never a good position to be in – not to mention all the people he put out of work when he closed our pipeline giving us unemployment and higher gas prices for all, which mean higher prices on products in the stores, which are transported by trucks which need fuel. There was no upside to closing the pipeline, none. Climate change is the big lie that holds us all hostage. Truth there would set us all free. I agree wholeheartedly with Senator Josh Hawley’s proposal. President Trump was right about this and many other things. The Biden Regime is anti American and likely broke contract law when they halted the KeyStone pipeline. Undoing the pipeline contracts was an attack on American both locally and nationally. I pray the Keystone XL pipeline is reinstated!
Fully agree. We were energy independent during Trump. Now with the war between Russia and Ukraine we really need to be and to be able to supply parts of the world that depends on Russia for oil.
