A pro-life Democrat!? We need more of these. We should pray for God to raise up pro-life leaders on both sides.
From Fox News. Texas Democrat Rep. Henry Cuellar, the lone pro-life Democrat serving in the House who has been outspoken about deteriorating conditions at the border, is sounding off about recent remarks made by one of his progressive colleagues and inaction from President Joe Biden’s administration to secure the southern border.

Last weekend, following a decision from the Supreme Court to overturn federal protections for abortion granted under Roe v. Wade, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., – arguably one of the most progressive members in the House – suggested in an Instagram video that the Democratic Party should “reassess if it’s appropriate” for pro-life Democrats to continue serving in their roles.
Cuellar spoke to Fox News Digital on Thursday, offering remarks about the ongoing immigration crisis and troubles at the border, as well as his being pro-life and a reaction to Ocasio-Cortez’s recent remarks.
“I’m a pro-life Democrat,” Cuellar said. “I know it’s a decision that, unfortunately, divides a lot of people. It’s a very emotional issue and I understand that.”
Often a voice of reason among members of his own party, Cuellar said the remarks from Ocasio-Cortez, who backed Jessica Cisneros in her primary challenge against him to represent Texas’s 28th Congressional District, were “laughable” and pointed to the textbook definition of a progressive.
“Who is she to decide what’s the standard of being a real Democrat,” he said. “If you look at what we do as members of Congress, we represent a district – she represents her district, I represent my district – and that’s the way it should be.”
“I would ask her to look up the definition of a progressive in the dictionary,” he continued. “It says that a progressive is one that’s open to new ideas. The only thing wrong with some of these new progressives is that they’re not open to the new ideas, they’re only open to their ideas. And somebody down the line came up with a standard that the only standard there should be is ‘you have to agree with me, and if you don’t agree with me, then you’re the pro-enemy’ and that’s what makes it so hard to work in Congress because people set these artificial standards when we ought to be looking at how do we work together….”
When asked about a recent report from The Associated Press that found roughly 1.7 million Americans had changed their party affiliation over the past 12 months – with two-thirds of those going to the GOP and 630,000 switching to the Democratic Party – Cuellar suggested Democrats should change their tune as it relates to the issues most important to Americans ahead of the midterm elections in the fall….

Father, we cry out for great mercy on behalf of this subject as well as many others. Hear the heart cry of your people across this great nation to turn to you for the forgiveness of our ways. Come and heal our land Lord, and restore this nation back to you. May the people seek you,and receive you as their Savior. In this our land will be restored back to you.

The term progressive is an oxymoron. It is really regressive what the democratic party stands for. It is godlessness. It is “l am the only one that matters.” What I want is the only thing that matters. That never ends well. I pray that they are finding this out and turning from their hardened hearts.
I agree. We should refer to them as regressives.
And I am encouraged so many are switching to the Republican party, which (at least at present) has the most Constitutionally, Biblically sound platform and policies. The party of Lincoln. The party of civil rights leaders under MLK. The party of true justice, genuine science, and sanity. I “converted” years ago. So did my husband, even before I met him. Lots of people we know are ex-Democrats.
Father God,
The party platforms are diametrically opposed. Please lead Christians to read and understand each party’s platform and make a wise choice as to which aligns with Your values. We want Your will to be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.
We ask for candidates who will have integrity to vote for legislation which aligns with the stated goals of their party. For those who haven’t received Jesus as Savior yet, we pray their hearts will be drawn to Your will and Your ways in their political choices.
Please save our nation from evil tyranny in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Father, thank you for Democrats like Rep. Henry Cuellar who is willing to stand for life against those who criticize him for being pro-life, trying to put him out of the party. Bring many new representatives and senators who will support life for the unborn.
Dear Heavenly Father, work in our leaders wisdom and revelation to lead with a change of heart!
Precious Lord, we pray for those Democrats who are willing to stand for those values that are right in your sight, protection of children in their mothers womb being one of those things. We ask that you would strengthen those ones giving them your wisdom, discernment as well as courage in the face of the opposition. In Jesus name, amen.
I pray that the words of Democrat Henry Ceullar will resonate with his democratic colleagues and bring about much needed changes into right thinking and understanding, particularly in these extremely sensitive and explosive areas of abortion/pro-life and border issues.
Father, no one can come to You unless You draw them. I ask that You draw to Yourself every person serving in the U.S. House and Senate, the Supreme Court, and every appointed official. So many of them do not know of Your ways or of the peace that comes from being in You. Save them. Change hearts and minds. Line them up with Your will. Thank You. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
