Tim Mahoney is using the paradigm he honed with his Patterns of Evidence films to look at patterns of Providence — which he defines as God’s presence — in America’s founding. Michael Medved asked Mahoney to turn his book, The American Miracle, into a film, and Mahoney and his team have the project underway.

Mahoney said:
“There are a lot of questions about how America came into being, and this film is looking at very specific times in history when people said this was the providence of God. It was a way of saying that something was unusual that allowed events in history to be guided by the presence of God. … I have worked with the testimonies of God acting in history in the Old Testament, and now we are looking at God acting in history in America.
Mahoney is making a wonderful discovery:
“The message of The American Miracle is that there is a powerful pattern of evidence of God working in the founding of this nation.”
I was blessed to play a Founding Father in scenes filmed in a replica of Independence Hall on the campus of Houston Christian University. The building is so new that this was the first production ever to film there.
After a 13-hour day of filming, Mahoney was kind enough to do an interview while I was still in costume:

I don’t suppose one can go beyond the founding father and second President John Adams, who wrote:
“the government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian religion.”
and “This would be the best of all possible worlds, if there were no religion in it. “

As a historical re-enactor myself, Rev War, War of 1812 and WWII, it was very good to see you are making the GOD and USA connection. For as you know GOD did play an incredible roll in the founding of the US. For he can be seen in our founding documents. The Declaration of Independence, the Federalist Papers and the Constitution, The three parts of the Constitution and the three forms of government.

Major European settlement at Sydney commenced when a convict colony was set up in 1788. Convicts were now being sent to Australia as the rebellion in America meant that convicts ceased to be sent there.
The Wesleys or their friends certainly did not fund the fleet it was the British government. John Wesley, the leading Christian in the English speaking world of the eighteenth century, was at a loss to explain the North American’s choice of rebellion and war over a matter of – taxation. As he wrote in 1777 his preachers were ‘firm for the government, and on that account, persecuted by the rebels, not only to the death; that the Preachers are still threatened, but not stopped; and the work of God increases in Maryland and Virginia’.
The Australian Constitution is a rather boring document, has no mention of God, and would probably have been better if Sir Isaac Isaacs had more hand in drafting it, but he talked too much for the rest. But he became Governor General (Head of State) one of two Jewish men to fill that role in Australia. It is a secular Constitution.
