UPDATE: State Senator Lippincott’s bill failed late last night. He has said, however, that he intends to bring up the measure for another vote one final time before the legislative session ends on April 18.
Nebraska’s abnormal electoral system has become the center of attention for the Republican and Democratic parties.
From Breitbart. Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen (R) has backed a conservative-led effort to award all of the state’s electoral votes to the presidential candidate who wins statewide.

Though Nebraska has been a Republican stronghold for years, the state’s system, as well as Maine’s, for awarding electoral votes has been at odds with the rest of the country by instead awarding those votes based on the congressional district as opposed to the winner-takes-all statewide popular vote. Theoretically, a presidential candidate could win the state but still lose one electoral vote if their opponent won in a congressional district like Omaha. …
In a statement on Tuesday, Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen spoke in favor of legislation that would change how his state awards electoral votes, which was introduced by State Senator Loren Lippincott.
“I am a strong supporter of Senator Lippincott’s winner-take-all bill (LB 764) and have been from the start. It would bring Nebraska into line with 48 of our fellow states, better reflect the founders’ intent, and ensure our state speaks with one unified voice in presidential elections,” he said. …
With Pillen’s support, the legislation has a strong chance of passing in both the State House and State Senate, going into effect before the November 2024 presidential election. …

Thank you Lord, that this bill is being considered at this time prior to the 2024 presidential election. I ask for favor in passing this bill LB 764. In Jesus’ name I pray.
Father God, I lift my home state before You. We know there are so many wrongs and misuses of power in governments. We ask for forgiveness for our collective sins that have taken place through governmental decisions and actions. Please use this bill to help correct some of the misuse, to bring people together rather than divide groups of people in Nebraska. Help us to realign to our original constitutional design and most importantly, help us to realign our ways with Your ways.
We are trusting our daily lives to Your care and protection. Move MIGHTILY in the halls of our state Capitol. Please let Your presence be known and be the primary influence in all decision-making taking place in those halls.
