On September 26, Christ-followers from around the country came to Washington, D.C. to participate in a pair of national prayer initiatives: Franklin Graham’s Prayer March and The Return, organized by Jonathan Cahn. What an encouraging and heart-warming sight to see such a multitude of believers gathered together in repentance for the sins of America, proclaiming the name of Jesus at the very seat of our government. Aside from the sheer number of participants, there were three aspects about this day that made it so special – not only in the eyes of the Church, but also in the sight of God: the gathered Body of Christ, united in the Holy Spirit, publicly worshipping our Father in heaven.

PRAYER POINT: Pray that the Body of Christ would come to understand the true nature of the spiritual battle in which we are engaged; that we would walk in the wisdom, power and discernment of the Holy Spirit; and that we might learn how to bring about deliverance and healing for those oppressed by sin and the forces of darkness.

Like many of you, I wish I could have been there. It was about as close as the Church of America can get to what the Israelites would have experienced during their yearly appointed convocations in Jerusalem. Unfortunately, however, a trip to Washington simply isn’t possible for most of us. And though churches are beginning to open back up in some areas, many of us remain isolated in our homes and physically detached from the fellowship of the saints. But be encouraged, Body of Christ – we will shortly have an opportunity to join together within our own communities to publicly participate in this movement of the Spirit across our country.

PRAYER POINT: Pray for those suffering from Covid – that God would have mercy on us, put an end to the plague, and that His purposes would be served.

You and your local fellowship of faith are invited to join believers around the country for a national prayer initiative called Meet You at the Polls. This is a series of public prayer meetings in which the Body of Christ is called to congregate at their local civic flagpoles to pray for our country, our leaders, and the coming elections. These prayer gatherings will occur at 3PM on the coming four Sunday afternoons leading up to Election Day (October 11th, 18th, 25th and November 1st).

PRAYER POINT: Pray for those suffering from alcohol and drug abuse; depression, PTSD, self-mutilation, eating disorders and suicidal thoughts; occultic and demonic oppression; sexual perversions, pornography and gender identity issues; and for the homeless, orphans and widows in our midst.

As our brothers and sisters did two weeks ago, we will unite across racial, ethnic, and denominational lines as we gather together at the seat of our local government and publicly declare that America belongs to God and that we are His people. We will humble ourselves in repentance before the Lord, seeking His deliverance, mercy, and forgiveness. We will ask Him to heal our land, pour out His Spirit in revival and enable us to elect righteous men and women to public office. In so doing, we will corporately join our voices with the thousands who gathered in Washington in a continuation of their mighty concert of prayer on behalf of America.

PRAYER POINT: Pray for the unemployed, those who have lost their businesses and all who are having a hard time making ends meet, and for the entirety of America’s workforce and homemakers.

Please come to your local flagpole this Sunday afternoon for our first prayer gathering. Bring your family, friends, and fellow church members with you. Spread the word to the Body of Christ in your area, and claim your town for the kingdom of God as we engage the enemy and wrest control of our neighborhoods from the spiritual forces of darkness in the heavenly places. Even if no one joins you, prayerfully step out in faith and boldness to fill the gap on behalf of your community. God will not despise a broken and contrite heart!

PRAYER POINT: Pray for those impacted by fires, floods, storms, drought, earthquakes and other natural disasters; that God would have mercy on us, but that His purposes would be served.

Praying for our leaders and our government is not just a good idea – it is a task the entire Church has been given. 1 Timothy 2:1-2 says, “First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.”It is clear that this command is of paramount importance today.

PRAYER POINT: Pray for our local and county officials (both elected and appointed), and for our local police, constables and district attorneys.

For more details on Meet You at the Polls, and for this Sunday’s prayer points, please visit www.GovPray.com. Thank you, fellow intercessors, for your consideration of this invitation. May God bless America as the Body of Christ blesses and honors Him!

PRAYER POINT: Pray for peaceable elections and that those who seek to sow discord and anarchy would be stymied in their efforts and held accountable for their actions, and that well-meaning people of goodwill would come together in support of our republic and the rule of law.

Due to the Covid situation, it is important that we are considerate of others and maintain the protocols established by our elected officials. This is not an opportunity to flout our liberty in Christ, but to practice deference to others as we glorify our Lord and do battle with the enemy. Let us do so with love, grace, truth and righteousness.

Father God, thank you for awakening your Body of Christ, thank you for all the prayer warriors, may we continue in one heart and one mind for revival in our Nation in our Government, and stir us to be the people that live to please you Lord, for without you being #1 in our life we will not have peace in our land. May you be with our President and Vice President and thank you for your healing on those who have come down with the virus, keep them safe, I pray in Jesus name, amen.

Thanks be to God for keeping it a wonderful and safe environment and for pushing back the darkness. We are safe in Him and under His shadow of His wings and when the saints collectively pray it is powerful.

I pray the Holy Spirit would sweep this nation, opening eyes to see the truth and hearts softened to repent and turn to God. That The Lords will be done here on earth as it is in heaven. That the evil would be called out for what it is and that it has to flee in THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST, Amen

I have been praying at my local polling place every morning since returning from Washington, D.C.
It was exactly like the Kurt describes in the article, a gathering unlike any other where the Body of Christ “went up to Jerusalem” together to meet with the Lord. I can understand why the Lord appointed feasts for the Children of Israel, It’s a holy time to separate from normal routines and focus on Him and all He has done for us.It’s also wildly encouraging to see THOUSANDS of other brothers and sisters who love God and want to declare their love publicly and to worship Him publicly. Even after the march, Believers hung around DC and you would run into families who were kind, outgoing, and mightily encouraged as they visited statues and monuments filled with scripture, the very foundation of our nation!
See you at the pole and at the polls!
