Not all Hollywood stars are partisan hacks. Some, like Matthew McConaughey, want to see a brighter future for all Americans, regardless of their political affiliation.
The Hollywood A-lister appeared on a May 12 segment of the Fox News Channels Special Report with Bret Baier to urge political unity between Americans in order to defeat the virus. Through his charity foundation, Just Keep Livin’, McConaughey has been sharing a message of unity amidst the pandemic and Fox News invited him to share that message with its viewers. He urged Americans to wake up and realize they’ve been losing their focus on the larger war with coronavirus because of nasty politics.
Our “united purpose,” the Oscar winner explained, “got hijacked.”
“I’ve been trying to keep my pulse on what’s the message, you know, right now as we go through this pandemic,” McConaughey told the anchor. “We started off at ‘Stay at home,’ then it turned into ‘wear a mask’ and uh, you know, a few weeks ago — about a month ago — I could feel that this united purpose we all have as Americans to beat this enemy and this virus, that purpose got hijacked a bit by partisan politics.”. . .
The actor characterized the divide even more bluntly: “All of a sudden the narrative became, ‘if you wanna go to work, you’re on the far right;’ ‘if you don’t wanna go to work, wanna stay home, you’re on the far left.’”
“Now even the mask wearing is getting politicized,” McConaughey lamented. “If you want to wear a mask, you wear a mask, you’re a liberal, if you don’t, then you’re a conservative, and that’s just not true.”
McConaughey expressed his opinion that these petty arguments have contributed to a “false divide.” Not only is there a war on coronavirus but a war with ourselves. “If we try to fight both those wars, we’re gonna lose both of them,” he affirmed.
Baier then asked what the message to get us all on the same page again should be, to which McConaughey responded, “This should not be about politics, it’s about us. The U.S.A. And we gotta take care of each other right now. We have a collective purpose… And look at how great Americans are when purpose comes to us in a crisis.”

I am all for praying for revival in America and praying for peace among the brethren one hundred percent, but we must also remember what Jesus says in James 10:34 – do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword. For I have come to set a man against his father, daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law and a man’s enemies will be those of his own household. We are ambassadors for Jesus in these last days and we must speak truth as we share the gospel. We will not always be received by everyone and it is definitely a spiritual warfare we will have until the end. I encourage us all to pray for revival for America right now. And yes, pray for unity and love amongst the brethren.
Almighty Father, You said that it is not by might, nor by power but by Your Spirit. So we ask for Your Holy Spirit to remove the veil of deception, the spirit of division, spirit of confusion among all Your children. Jesus, you died for all men and as You are one with the Father, help us to be one, united with You and focused on You! We declare that You are the Great I AM and ‘Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty! Who was and who is and is to come’
Father, I thank you for Mr. McConaughey’s stand for unity. I pray that your Spirit would give your peace to our nation and unite us spiritually, taking away Satan’s power.

Where there is unity there is always victory. Source of strength can start in families, marriages, schools, universities, communities, and even countries. Let’s embrace our differences by coming together in unity, we all have something to contribute.
Let’s reflect God’s heart and purpose of unity among His people. It will make life both good and pleasant, enjoyable, here in our country, the United States of America.
In unity, is the oil of holiness, separation from all evil, expressing the excellence of brotherly love.
All good gifts come from above, Let’s allow the Holy Spirit, do it’s work in each one of us.
