When the U.S. Secretary of State makes a special visit to one country, it is always worth paying attention. Even more when it is the Secretary’s first travel in nearly two months and occurs in the middle of a global pandemic.
That’s what happened this week when Secretary of State Mike Pompeo crossed the globe to visit Israeli leaders in person for just hours on Wednesday.

The State Department says he went to discuss efforts to fight coronavirus and security issues surrounding Iran’s “malign influence.” But major news outlets seemed skeptical. New York Times reporters asked, “What was so urgent and sensitive, in the middle of a virus pandemic, that America’s top diplomat had to make a 16-hour trip to Israel instead of simply picking up the phone?”
A quick look at prominent headlines would make you think that really this trip was all about potential plans for Israel to formally annex portions of the West Bank.
Is that it then?
Well, first, let’s not discount the stated reasons for the trip.
Regarding the pandemic — or what Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called “the corona plague” — Israel took a very aggressive stance and has much to share about lessons learned. Also, the U.S. and Israel are blessed with brilliant and resourceful medical minds. I would’t discount diplomacy aimed at battling the deadly pandemic together as a simple smokescreen.
Then there is Iran.
No one knows the danger of Iran more intimately than Israel. That happens when a nation not only calls for your annihilation, but puts its money where its mouth is. Iran-backed terrorists based in Lebanon and Gaza are ever-present threats. And there have been actual Iranian troops in war-torn Syria — right on Israel’s doorstep.
The Trump Administration is alarmed by Iran’s belligerence as well. Pompeo is pressuring nations to extend a United Nations arms embargo against the regime — work vexing enough to earn a threat of “crushing response” from Iranian President Hassan Rohani. While in Israel, Pompeo called Iran “the most anti-Semitic nation in the world.” He also called it “the world’s largest state sponsor of terror.” Dealing with that threat seems reason enough to visit our closest ally in the region.
Another matter that could have compelled an in-person visit is swiftly escalating global tension with China. A thorn between leaders in DC and Jerusalem is the communist giant’s involvement in Israeli infrastructure projects. For example, a company that reports to the Chinese government secured a 25-year lease from the Israelis to run Haifa’s seaport — a port visited frequently by U.S. naval ships.
While in Jerusalem, Pompeo told a reporter, “We do not want the Chinese Communist Party to have access to Israeli infrastructure, Israeli communication systems, all of the things that put Israeli citizens at risk and in turn put the capacity for America to work alongside Israel on important projects at risk as well.”
I imagine he was even more candid in private talks with his Israeli hosts.
And, yes, the West Bank annexation issue was surely an item of significant conversation, too. Coronavirus has changed the world stage, but you may remember another game-changer in January when U.S. President Donald Trump unveiled his “deal of the century” — his “Vision for Peace” between Israelis and Palestinians.
One part of that plan would redraw zones of control to reflect on-the-ground realities in Israel today. Netanyahu wants to move quickly to formally annex areas of Judea and Samaria (also known as the West Bank). However, it is unclear how that idea will play in a new Israeli unity government cobbled together after multiple split-decision elections.
Pompeo said this week that what happens “is, in the end, an Israeli decision.” Most assuredly, though, he talked about that coming decision in the context of the Vision for Peace.
All of these matters were surely on the discussion agenda and are well worth covering in prayer. Indeed, there is a lot to talk about among such good friends, especially upon the anniversary of their relationship (May 14, 1948).
Regardless of any particular agenda item, Pompeo certainly made a strong statement about Israel’s enduring importance to the U.S. during this special visit.
“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: ‘May those who love you be secure. May there be peace within your walls and security within your citadels.’” (Psalm 122:6-7)

I think God that he did not leave us alone he is in charge of all things and as we submit to him and our leader ship submits to him we will overcome and recover all and the enemy will be defeated on every level in the immediate future. I have used the wors of others plus Scripture to pray weekly for Israel:
“For Zion’s sake I will not keep silent, for Jerusalem’s sake I will not remain quiet, till her righteousness shines out like the dawn, her salvation like a blazing torch” (Isaiah 62:1).
“I have posted watchmen on your walls, Jerusalem; they will never be silent day or night. You who call on the Lord, give yourselves no rest, and give him no rest till he establishes Jerusalem and makes her the praise of the earth.” -Isaiah 62:6-7
Lord of Hosts, we stand in the gap for the nation of Israel: the Jews and Palestinians alike. We cry out for Your justice and peace to be established. We acknowledge that the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God, so we ask that wisdom and discernment to be given to all who are in authority.
This is what the Sovereign Lord says: “Once again I will yield to Israel’s plea and do this for them: I will make their people as numerous as sheep, as numerous as the flocks for offerings at Jerusalem during her appointed festivals. So will the ruined cities be filled with flocks of people. Then they will know that I am the Lord.” (Eze. 36: 37-38)
Lord Jesus, we ask that the governments will line up with Your heart, for the government rests on Your shoulders. For those caught in the middle, hiding in bunkers or forced to stay in an unsafe area due to terrorist threats, we pray for Your deliverance. We pray for angelic protection for the innocents. We ask that the “Iron Dome” defense system will continue to effectively deter missiles.
Father, we ask that You would expose the terrorist plots and plans, and thwart every attempt from terrorists groups to hide weapons in civilian places. Holy Spirit, we ask that you would open the eyes and hearts of both Jews and Gentiles to the revelation of Yeshua and His gospel of peace.
We bless the Jews as they have endured hostility and hatred from all sides. We bless the Palestinians and ask that you would raise up righteous men and women to lead their people into peace and prosperity. Bring comfort to all the men, women, and children who have lost loved ones and are suffering from the recent battles.
In the name of Jesus, we bind the spirit of violence and deception that has robbed the people of hope or a future. We renounce every curse that has been spoken over the land of Israel and its people. “Like a fluttering bird or like a flying swallow, so a curse without cause does not come to rest.” (Prov. 26:2) We proclaim peace and order over chaos, and that Your Kingdom will be revealed in Israel, as it is in heaven. And we declare, “Lord, establish Jerusalem, Your heavenly city, and make her a praise on the earth.”
We realize that no human, no government, or philosophy will be able to fully deliver or save. Only You, Lord Jesus. In You we trust and look for the blessed hope that will come out of Zion. In the name of the One enthroned above all principalities and powers, amen.

Sanctify Your great name which has been profaned among the nations, which has been profaned in the midst of Israel. May nations know that the Lord is God, when He is sanctified in Israel before their eyes. Sprinkle the clean water of Your Word on Israel and cleanse her from her filthiness and from all her idols, including abortion and the occult. Give Israel a new heart, and put a new spirit within her. Remove her heart of stone and give her a heart of flesh that can respond to the Holy Spirit, and cause her to walk in Your statutes, keep Your commandments and do them.
The Lord has been telling me for months to keep my eyes on Israel. This started before the Jewish holidays. I have always had a heart for Jewish people ever since I was little and my grandfather who was Italian took me to a store to buy socks. The man was Jewish and told me to make a fist and measured it by wrapping a sock around it for the right size. One day I saw his girls I wanted to play with them. However I never saw them outside. This was in 1954. I went to Israel 12 years ago and loved it. I pray for the peace of Jerusalem for years. When President Trump moved our embassy to Jerusalem. I knew the US had shifted to favor with God. My mom knew. Jewish man who had a lab in 1955 and told her I’m going home to Israel Connie God has showed me how to make the desert bloom in Israel so you won’t see me for awhile. He was a Jewish Scientist. When I went to Israel and was on the bus and saw fields with tents and plants. I cried when I remember what my mom told me. I’m praying that Israel will have a drug to fight this horrible plaque. They are the only ones I trust. They have a cure for diabetes and heart conditions which we do not have. I now get Israel News in my email. There is a lot going on there. So please pray for the Peace of Jerusalem.

I’ve been amazed at the parallels between the PM in Israel and President Trump. The muckraking and personal attacks on men and their families.
Its strange that someone is hauled into court because they got upset with household staff after finding glass in their food. Yet that is what happened to the PM’s wife, Sarah.
Our President and supporters are constantly maligned for correcting inequities in the American system.
May we remmber that this period of major deception is still in God’s hands even if those heading up places like New York, California, Michigan, etc. have never felt the hand of God.
Those now who think they are going to rule and reign are to be confounded as the One who defeated the Caesars come to reveal His plan.
We may not agree with the way this has transpired, But we Know beyond any doubt that the King of Kings and Lord or Lords, He who gives one heartbeat after another is here..
Heavenly Father Lord of Host I lift up Mike Pompeo as an anointed servant you have appointed for this time that you will bless him & keep him, shine You Face upon Him & be gracious to him may You lift up your countenance upon him & give him peace. Let the light of Your glory, protection & authority be upon him as You go before him & are his rearguard. Remove the stumbling blocks before him; let the mountain(s) before him become a plain & I speak grace, grace as it’s capstone for it’s not by might nor power but by your Spirit! Lord as in the story of Esther may You extend to Mike Pompeo the Royal Scepter of the Kingdom of Heaven that he will go with Your Favor & Authority – King of Kings & Lord of Lord’s & all the powers of darkness under Your Feet – with decrees of Heaven to reverse the decree of the enemy-they shall not stand!May you discomfit the plans of the enemy & unrighteousness must shut it’s mouth! Let the enemy be rendered powerless as You give Pompeo wisdom & speech the enemy can’t contradict or withstand for he will speak by Your Spirit. Holy Spirit stir the hearts of leaders, political & spiritual, & us the people to come together with one voice to accomplish Your will to be done on earth-come into agreement to bind the powers of darkness & loose the power of Heaven. Give us spiritual eyes to see. Let Your Light shine in the darkness & open peoples eyes & lead them to repentance to know You/Truth to escape the snare of the devil for they have bee taken captive by him to do his will. Thank you Father Your mercy triumphs over Judgment because of Your great love for us!

The amount of travel that Secretary Pompeo does would level a younger person. He is constantly on the phone, constantly reaching other nations, constantly reflecting You in his comments. What a man for this hour, thank You Lord for him and the many mature, godly Christians you have serving in the Trump Administration. We are blessed to have such leadership. Father I pray for his physical renewal, for supernatural wisdom, for healthy relationships with the countless leaders in other nations that he deals with daily. Thank you for his mind that encompasses so greatly the issues of the many nations. He appears to continually be engaged in the work.
I pray for balance, renewal, strong family connections, great teamwork within his group. Most of all, I ask for an ever increasing reliance on the truth of Your word. That the wisdom he operates from is always heaven sent.
Bless Sec Pompeo, thank You for him and please meet him in the desires of his heart.
