I Prayed have prayed
Lord, continue to give our president and other government officials wisdom and discernment. We pray that the fear of the Lord in their lives would cause them to shine as a lights to the world.

Governor John Bel Edwards of Louisiana called on residents to fast and pray for three day, from July 20 to July 22, to bring an end to COVID-19, as reported by The Christian Post.

The Catholic Democratic governor shared his intention to pray and refrain from lunchtime eating at a press conference last week. Spiritual leaders from around the state asked Edwards to join them as a “spiritual diet and exercise.”

“… [We will be] praying for the people of Louisiana, praying for those who are sick, praying for those who care for those…who are sick, and certainly praying for the families of those who have passed on,” he said. . . .

Both Republicans and Democrats have put aside their differences and applauded Edwards.

“Sincere salute to Democrat @LouisianaGov John Bel Edwards who has called for 3 days of prayer and fasting next week for the Covid 19 virus. #gratitude #Respect,” former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, a Republican, tweeted.

Archbishop Gregory Aymond of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New Orleans also encouraged fasting, stating that “God hears our prayers, and we must cooperate with him in doing our part to make certain that we do not spread the virus.” . . .

Edwards mandated last week that all residents must wear masks, which has sparked controversy with the state’s attorney general who believes the mandate is unconstitutional.

As the virus continues its destructive path around the world, Malawi’s new president, Lazarus Chakwera, also called on his citizens to pray and fast. Chakwera is a former pastor and Assemblies of God President.

I applaud this governor’s wisdom. Even more than fasting and praying for the virus to be stopped, however, I believe we need to repent of our sins and pray for national revival.

It is wonderful. “If my people, who are called by my name do humble themselves and pray, then will I hear from heaven, … and heal the land.

Our president needs to do the same. God help America. Only He can.

If every state’s Governor would do the same and call for fasting and praying, and do so according to God’s way as outlined in Isaiah 58:6-7; 8-12; then our land will be healed and restored better than ever before. Holy Spirit, bring forth great revival in the hearts of our state leaders. For the glory of God and our good. Let it be so, in Christ Jesus!

The more fasting and prayer the more hope America has for continuing democracy. We also need to fast and pray for the coming election and to end the violence in our cities. We pray against the spirit of rage and decree peace for our country. Churches need to speak up and proclaim days of prayer And repentance and turning back to the Lord. The dumbing down of the church has let the evils of this society creep in a little at a time. It’s time we speak up with boldness and take back our country. Lord give us wisdom to know how to pray for your will to be done. We know you can do far more then we can hope or desire. We wait expectantly for signs and wonders and miracles to turn people to You Lord. We thank you for hearing and answering our prayers.
