The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) took files relating to the assassination of former President John F. Kennedy and MKUltra that Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Tulsi Gabbard was reportedly planning to declassify, according to multiple reports.

While Fox News host Jesse Watters shared that a whistleblower had revealed Gabbard’s office was raided while giving a deposition earlier in the day and that Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) had also “confirmed it,” Olivia Coleman, a press secretary for Gabbard, said, “This is false.”

In a post on X, Luna warned that the CIA “has 24 hours” in which to return the files they took, or she will “make a motion to issue a subpoena.”

Representative Anna Paulina Luna later clarified that the incident did not occur recently and was not technically a “raid,” but she maintained that intelligence officials had removed documents that the Office of the Director of National Intelligence had jurisdiction over. According to reporting cited by lawmakers and journalists, the files were allegedly taken during the previous year’s government shutdown and have not yet been returned.

The controversy has reignited public skepticism surrounding decades of secrecy tied to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy and the CIA’s infamous MKUltra program, which involved covert mind-control and psychological experimentation projects conducted during the Cold War era. Many Americans have long questioned whether the full truth surrounding these operations has ever been disclosed.

Representative Lauren Boebert joined calls for accountability, demanding to know who authorized the removal of the documents. Meanwhile, critics argue the incident highlights ongoing transparency concerns within the intelligence community and raises fresh questions about what information federal agencies may still be withholding from the public and Congress.
