Kaiser Permanente, one of the nation’s biggest health care providers, has announces it will pause sex-change surgeries for patients less than 19 years old.

In its statement on Wednesday, Kaiser said it had to “carefully consider the significant risks being created for health systems, clinicians, and patients” in light of the government’s actions.

“After significant deliberation and consultation with internal and external experts including our physicians, we’ve made the difficult decision to pause surgical treatment for patients under the age of 19 in our hospitals and surgical centers. This pause is effective August 29, 2025,” the health care nonprofit said. “All other gender-affirming care treatment remains available. We continue to meet with regulators as well as our clinicians, patients, their families, and the community with the goal of identifying a responsible path forward.”

This is an incredible answer to our prayers. We have covered the damage that these surgeries have caused to countless children across the nation. In fact, Kaiser Permanente was the health care provider that transitioned Chloe Cole, a well known detransitioner and activist.

Kaiser is also not the first health care provider to change its tune. Hospitals, centers, and other providers of trans treatments have been scrambling in the wake of the President’s executive order targeting such treatments from earlier this year. In fact, we recently covered a medical center in Chicago that elected to pause its treatments for minors.

This is an encouraging victory, but the battle isn’t over yet. Let’s continue to pray that children are protected from these damaging, irreversible surgeries!
