I Prayed have prayed
Lord God, we pray that Israel's leaders would cry out to You and call their nation to pray.
Reading Time: 3 minutes

From All Israel News. JERUSALEM, ISRAEL — Yesterday, ALL ISRAEL NEWS published my column, “It’s time for Israeli leaders to call for a ‘National Day of Prayer’ based on 2 Chronicles 7:14.”

Today, a range of Israeli Orthodox Jewish leaders told me they agree.

While they believe that individual — and even synagogue prayers — are important, they say it is absolutely urgent that Israelis turn, as an entire society, to prayer and fasting, seeking God’s mercy, forgiveness, and favor for the war to end quickly, decisively and with as few deaths as possible.

Evangelical pastors all across Israel, the U.S., and elsewhere have also contacted me to say the same thing.

They cite numerous examples throughout the Bible where the nation turned to the Lord in such dangerous times and the God of Israel showed up in a mighty way.

Now, both Orthodox Jews and Evangelical Christians are calling on David Lau — Israel’s Chief Rabbi — to take the lead on such an initiative.

THE MAYOR OF EFRAT WENT PUBLIC FIRST

Oded Revivi, the Orthodox Jewish mayor of the city of Efrat — just south of Jerusalem and close to Bethlehem — was the first to go public.

At 10:32 a.m. local time, Revivi reposted my column on X, the social media platform previously known as Twitter, with this comment.

“Although coming from an Evangelical clergyman, there is no doubt that there is a place to declare a National Day of Prayer,” the mayor wrote.

“Maybe this coming Monday when will mark the 30th day [since] the terrorist attack on Simchat Torah.”

Then, at 1:27 p.m. local time, Revivi issued a statement to the press in Hebrew.

Here is the English translation.

* This coming Monday we will mark the 30th day of fighting: a call for a national day of prayer *

The head of the Efrat Local Council, Oded Revivi, is calling on Chief Rabbi David Lau and elected officials to establish a national day of prayer this coming Monday.

On the 30th anniversary of the start of the terrible war, many members of the public consider it necessary to hold a day of prayer for the IDF soldiers and the abductees after a difficult month of losses and battles.

Oded Revivi: “There is no doubt that there is a place to declare a National Day of Prayer, as early as this coming Monday when we will mark the thirtieth anniversary of the terrorist attack with Simchat Torah.”

While I reminded him that I’m not actually a clergyman, I was very grateful to see how enthusiastic Mayor Revivi was about mobilizing the entire nation of Israel to turn to the God of Israel in prayer and fasting.

MORE ORTHODOX JEWS ARE SPEAKING OUT

Over the past few hours, I’ve been hearing from other Orthodox Jews who strongly support this idea, as well.

“On individual basis, Israeli Jews, who are not even particularly religious, have turned to prayer in a very significant way,” Jonathan Feldstein, an Orthodox Jewish journalist and thought leader here in Israel, told me.

“It’s a very important initiative to bring us all together for a powerful national prayer, not just because we want God to hear our prayers but I think in doing so, it will provide us strength and encouragement as well.”

“In 2014, there was a massive organized prayer event at the Western Wall, which had the same impact of bringing us all closer together, finding inspiration in something that is still yet so painful and difficult,” Feldstein — who frequently writes columns for ALL ISRAEL NEWS — added.

“I pray that we will have many moments of inspiration among the pain and fear and grief, that unfortunately we are already experiencing and which probably will continue.”

Another rabbi wrote to me about the idea of a national day of prayer, “I love it!”

He told me that he is now working to inform and mobilize other rabbis across the country.

Another rabbi that I’ve known for many years said he’s encouraged that “we’ve been saying Psalm 121 in our services every day as committed Jews all around the world.”

While not opposed to the idea of a national day of prayer, he said he wasn’t sure that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would actually call for such a thing.

Other Israeli Jews have told me they agree and think it is more likely that such an initiative would have to come from the chief rabbi, given Israel’s unique religious and political culture.

Pray that Israel’s leaders will call their nation to pray and fast, and that the people would cry out to God.

Dear God, I join all here in praying for Israel, and my prayers have been with a deeply heavy heart for the people there to be protected from any further attack from all of the threatening countries around them. And I join you all in prayer for a turning of hearts to you Jesus for their salvation. I pray for the peace of Jerusalem. And for you oh God to make your presence known to your people the Jewish people plus their friends who live in peace with them. Send your angels to surround and rescue them. I pray this most heartfully. And I ask that the enemies would be defeated and disarmed in Jesus’ name.

IMPORTANT: From “National Day of Repentance”……….Now having given you that WAKE-UP notice, I want to ask you to take a spiritual stand with Israel this MONDAY, NOVEMBER 6TH. Members of the Israeli Knesset, along with come chief rabbis in Israel, have called the whole nation of Israel to pray throughout Monday; seeking the help, healing, rescue, and guidance from the God of Israel. On this 30th day since the Oct. 7th massacre, some of the leadership in Israel are waking up to the reality that unless the Lord intervenes for us, Israel is toast. Yemen has vowed to send a massive missile strikes into Israel. Hundreds of thousands of Turks have rallied under the war cry of coming to the aid of Hamas in Gaza. Hizbullah, in Lebanon, and Iran’s operatives in Syria are all poised to attack Israel from the North. The threats are far too great for Israel to do this … even with the help of the UK and Britain. It must be the Lord. Therefore, please fast and pray throughout Monday, along with the Israelis. The Lord will hear the cries of the righteous. He will act.

Yes, prayer, by all of us everywhere in whatever style we pray. Acknowledge God. Pray for just peace, for an end to violence, and for the changing of hearts and minds to loving kindness towards all.

The battle between Israel and Hamas will never be won by Israel unless they corporately seek God’s face, His power, and His will. God is waiting for Israel to come to Him in love and repentance. God’s guidance is critical to Israeli victory. May many people also see as they come to God that Jesus truly is their long-awaited Messiah!! May we here in the USA continue to pray for victory for Israel, God’s chosen people. Let it not be just military victory but spiritual victory and may many be willing to say “yes “ Father God, to You and your way and your perfect will for Israel and her people. Let Israel be completely surrendered to God and totally empowered and guided by Him!!!

Deuteronomy 6:4-5

Sh’ma Yisra’eil Adonai Eloheinu Adonai echad.
Hear, Israel, the Lord is our God, the Lord is One.

V’ahavta eit Adonai Elohekha.
And you shall love the Lord your God

b’khol l’vavkha uv’khol nafsh’kha
with all your heart and with all your soul

uv’khol m’odekha
and with all your might

Mark 12:28-30 (Complete Jewish Bible)
One of the Torah-teachers came up and heard them engaged in this discussion. Seeing that Yeshua answered them well, he asked Him, “Which is the most important mitzvah of them all?” Yeshua answered, “The most important is, ‘Sh’ma Yisra’el, Adonai Eloheinu, Adonai echad and you are to love Adonai your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your understanding and with all your strength.’

Dear Almighty One, You are the Eternal Triune God of Israel, America, the nations, earth, Heaven…everything in existence. I pray You are calling us all into alignment. May the prayers being offered for Israel return in blessings we cannot even conceive. I am praying salvation and victory in uncountable numbers for Your people in The Land of Promise, and in every place the Name of Yeshua HaMashiach is praised. We love You Lord, with our hearts, souls, understanding and strength. Please hear our prayers. Amen

Father, in the name of Jesus, i ask you to weigh heavily on the hearts of the Religious and Political leaders of Israel to join together in urging a day of prayer of fasting for their nation. Father while the church and true bible scholars know you have never abandoned your covenant with Israel, we understand that when Israel abandons its covwnant with you there are wars and captivity. Father so many people in the world do not know you, the God of Israel, as the one and only true God. Father i pray that you would use this current situation to turn worldwide attention to Yourself, your glory, your mercy, your power, and your ages old covenant with Israel. Father in your own wisdom and mercy decide the best way to do this, even as you decided in ancient days to intervene in miraculous ways with divine interventions so that Israel would not trust in their bow or their sword but only trust in you alone. In the name of Jesus, We turn this entire situation over to you, move the leadership in Israel to call for prayer and fasting, help your people to fast and pray, and and remind them of of your many mighty miraculous acts for Israel in ancient days and instruct them that you are still the same and the covenant is still in force, and that you are a good God, rich in mercy and blessing and protection for them as a people and a nation. Turn their hearts away from empty religion to deep stable covenant relationship with you. Take their reliance off of man and military and put it on you where it belongs. In Jesus name we ask believing you to honor your promise to hear and answer us.

Father, thank You for calling this nation to pray. As I was reading Jeremiah today; 33:3, “call unto Me and I will answer you, I will show you great and mighty things that you do not know,” Father, we are calling on You to end this war, give Israel victory, protect them, send You ministering angels to surround them and give them insight, wisdom to hear Your voice, saying this is the way walk in it, release the hostages, and Lord, I pray in agreement that this war will end and many lives will turn to You the Messiah! This is very good that Rabbis, and others within the Jew set up both in Israel and the nations, etc. are responding to this. Even though we do not get to connect with others such as yourselves in prayer time, we/I still pray incessantly for Israel. It is an ongoing prayer throughout the day that occupies our mind and Spirit.

A lot of the churches, who are ‘sleeping’ at present need to get behind this as well!

Abba, as more and more people are being moved to pray and seek Your face, please reveal Yourself and Your Son, Yeshua to those who truly want to know You. Let the veil be removed, let the scales fall from the eyes – that the glory of the LORD may be revealed.
