God is and has been at work in the battle for choosing a speaker of the House. Don’t miss this testimony from IFA board member Cynthia Dunbar.
The Enemy is a defeated foe. He holds no cards. The only way he can hold any sway is to deceive. This has always been his strategy. Even from his first attack on humanity, his strategy has been to convey to us that he holds some coveted gift that God has not already bestowed. In short, his tactic is to try to convince the Bride that God is holding out on us, and that there is still something that we must receive only from him, that is, the Enemy. Well, that was a lie then (because mankind was already like God, as we were created in the image of God), and it is a lie now. Satan has nothing. All authority has been given to Christ Jesus, and we, as joint heirs with Him, need to finally realize this and to begin walking in the victory Christ has purchased for us. We need to be living and moving and having our very being in the resurrected Christ — not anxiously pleading for God to still move on our behalf. This, I am convinced, is what it means for us to be finally manifest as the sons of God for which all creation is groaning.

So, why the lengthy theological reminder? It’s because I far too often see the Enemy getting us to take our eyes off Christ and the completed works of the cross, to place them onto the chaos of the circumstances that surround us. By thus causing us to shift our gaze, he can begin spinning a false narrative. He is the father of lies, after all; that is what he does: lie. But, to quote a beautiful hymn: “… the things of earth will grow strangely dim, in the light of His glory and grace.” It is time for the Church to realize that we are operating not to gain victory, but from a place of victory — victory in Jesus. And He watches over His Word to perform it. In this testimony that I share with you, we see that He is indeed watching over the promise that the effectual, fervent prayer of the righteous does avail much. And the good news of the gospel is that we are righteous, as Christ has taken away our filthy rags and replaced them with His righteousness (see 2 Corinthians 5:21).
On Saturday, Oct. 21, 2023, I was sitting alone in prayer. I was praying very generically for the world and for our nation. Out of nowhere, the Lord spoke very clearly to me the following:
“Pray boldness over Congressman Michael Johnson in this season. Pray that he may walk in strength tempered in grace, that he may boldly speak forth truth, and that his words will be a beacon of hope to the nation.”
I then called a friend, a solid Christian who is congressional district director for another congressman, and told her what I had heard. She informed me that Rep. Johnson’s name was not even being considered for speaker, and she was curious as to why I was praying this specifically over him. I told her simply: “Because the Lord has told me to pray for him.” She then agreed to pray along with me.
Fast-forward to Wednesday afternoon. I received a call from this same friend with whom I had prayed Saturday. She was in tears as she told me that the vote to elect Congressman Michael Johnson as the next speaker of the House of Representatives had been UNANIMOUS within the party!
She then explained to me what few would understand, but which intercessors need to know: Given the climate in the House of Representatives right now, a unanimous vote was humanly impossible. This vote was a miracle and an answer to prayer!
She then thanked me for being obedient to reach out to her on Saturday, as that had prompted her to pray too and also to share my message with others on Capitol Hill. Rep. Johnson has even stated personally that he had been praying, and that even though he had never considered running, on Saturday the Lord made it clear to him that he was to run.
This is the essence of Intercessors for America. God inspires/prompts/leads us to pray in accordance with His will, and then He allows us the joy and privilege of witnessing His miraculous answers to the prayers He has prompted. He could do it all without us, but instead He chooses to use us. And sometimes His action is conditioned on the prayers of His saints in response to His prompting.
God gave me a prophetic prayer, and now we see that the effectual, fervent prayers of the righteous did avail much. We have witnessed firsthand the promise of Haggai 2 that God’s shaking serves as a blessing to remove many who are in power to replace them with those He has chosen, who bear His signet ring of authority.
I pray that this testimony encourages you.
GOD IS STILL ANOINTING AND PLACING PEOPLE IN POSITIONS OF INFLUENCE FOR OUR GOOD!
Undeniably, the power of intercession played an integral part in this entire situation. What seemed like a situation of chaos and confusion was in fact an orchestrated means of God’s manifesting HIS sovereignty and authority on this earth.
I hope that you will share this testimony widely as an encouragement to all intercessors. Also, I want to encourage us all to continue to pray what God said to pray, because Johnson’s election as speaker is not the end of the story. God gave us the prayer points: Johnson will need to be bold, to walk in strength tempered in grace, and to be equipped to speak forth words of hope over our nation. By praying as God has directed us to pray, may we see this new speaker of the House empowered by the Holy Spirit to stay the course.
I hope this blesses you as much as it has me. God is moving, and we have a hope that must not be ashamed!

Glory to God as He answers our prayers and moves to help us!!! We must ALWAYS remember that our victory is already won through Jesus’s victory at the cross. There is another beautiful song that says Oh victory in Jesus, my Savior forever, he sought me and bought me with His redeeming blood. Mike Johnson was a coach who ignored Richard Strauss’ abuse of students at OSU claiming he knew nothing about it despite many students and coaches testifying otherwise.
Mike was also the chairman of the judiciary committee and allowed J6 American’s rot in a DC jail for months without any charges being brought, and also let others get lengthy prison terms for merely exercising their first amendment rights. Mike is just another corrupt establishment lackey, if God had anything to do with his nomination it was in judgement on this country.
I love this man. I pray that God will bless him in this difficult position in Congress. It was frustrating to watch the voting for Speaker but I have to say I believe the right person was put in place. “Good things come to those who wait.”
The Head LINES stated—-Who is Mike Johnson? GOD produced our New House Speaker in His Time. I know many were praying asking God for directions who to pray for. Well the answer came from many answers to several praying people. Gods prophetic words to HIS Prophets were -Its going to be different this time! We already had a speaker that was doing a good job in my opinion. This is like dumping a spouse for no good reason and getting another one and expecting all to rejoice. The word that comes to me is unfaithful! FATHER GOD please bless both Kevin McCarthy and Mike Johnson and our fickle Representatives. Help our Congress to grow up, represent their constituents, and put action to their much speaking in JESUS NAME! Amen!

i had been praying for the children and the devotional i was using on this particular day was called “God’s got this”, but also titled CHANGES, Chapter 18. The Lord has been speaking to me thru coins (change). during a walk i found a quarter with the state of LOUISIANA on the other side. when i looked up what # it was to join the union, #18. when i looked up what 18 means in the Bible, “LIFE MORE ABUNDANTLY”!. any time the Jewish people give gifts, it’s in multiples of 18! i know he had been speaking to me about what was going on in my life, but i couldn’t resist sharing this when i heard about Rep. Johnson from LOUISIANA!
Lord God Almighty, your Holy Spirit has it’s incredible reminance in this dark American government! Thank you for bringing some hope and inspiration into the Speaker of the House. He is a brother of all Christians and we desperately need you in this broken country because through his speech, he represents you! Amen!!

I’m not seeing GOD at work in the selection of Mike Johnson for the new speaker! GOD is a GOD of order and would not have allowed McCarthy to be speaker if Johnson was HIS choice. Keep on believing that GOD does things like the world if you choose to! The way McCarthy was removed was not of GOD! I cannot believe how deceived many in the church are! We act like the world and then thank GOD for it! FATHER GOD please order my steps and direct my path! Create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me. Interesting, because I see it as God allowing McCarthy to get elected so He can show us what HE can do…not us. He always uses the bad for His good…don’t you know that by now?
Roberta, I respectfully ask you to consider Daniel 2:20-21 – “. . . Blessed be the name of God from eternity past to eternity future! For wisdom and power are His alone; He brings the changes of seasons and times; He installs (sets up, raises up, lifts up, establishes) and deposes (removes, takes away) kings . . .” Hosea 8:4 – “They make kings, but without My authority; they appoint leaders, but without My knowledge (without My approval, without consulting Me). So if you believe, as Daniel said, He installed (McCarthy), then why don’t you believe that He deposed (McCarthy)? Why don’t you accept that He installed Johnson? There are earthly authorities, according to Hosea who are not approved by Him. He uses whatever authority is put in place, to accomplish His will and purposes, but it doesn’t mean that He approved them. YHVH gave Israel a king, but not because He wanted them to have a king, other than Himself. He also warned them what would happen.
There is a mysterious interplay of God’s sovereignty and man’s free will throughout history – His Story. If we fall prey to a theology that removes either, we have warped theology. If we assume that everything that happens on earth is God’s will because He is sovereign – then we accuse Him of horrible things brought about by mankind’s choice to sin against Him. If we assume that man’s free will has no boundaries, then we are doomed to live in sin, sickness, disease, and death. Our free will is inviolate, but it is also given boundaries by the sovereignty of a good and gracious God – and we should be eternally grateful for that. He will either work out His sovereign and eternal purposes through those who submit to Him, or He will do it in spite of those who resist Him. Our only choice ultimately is whether to submit and obey which brings life, or resist and disobey which brings death.
I have considered all scripture to fit this situation and I stand by my own discernment that has never failed me. I’m grateful Mike Johnson says he’s a Christian, however in scripture GOD used many that may have come to faith yet or ever to bless HIS people! I don’t sense GOD in the way Kevin McCarthy was removed! Where was Mike Johnson during the original choosing? I say man did this and now wants to thank GOD! My opinion!
The first inkling I had that Speaker Johnson was a follower of Christ was when He placed his Bible on the right side of the podium when he came up to accept the Speaker’s gavel and give his first speech. My heart soared with thanksgiving to our Heavenly Father for placing him in that position, and prayer that he would be bold and courageous, not be afraid to speak truth to the House, but to trust God to lead him in all things, and protect him from the attacks the enemy will surely launch at him.
Praise God for his guidance, revealing who to pray for and then answering prayers. We have an Amazing God who never leaves us.

I saw two photos of House Members praying, asking God to lead. When God leads, we get the best from our Good Good Father!
Heavenly Father, we pray that You will continue to remind those who call themselves Christian, all over this Nation, and have ears to hear Your guidance, that if they continue to humble themselves, pray and seek Your Face, You will hear from Heaven and heal our land. I have been praying that GOD would raise up His leaders to guide our nation. That GOD would expose corruption everywhere in local, state, federal, schools, and churches. Our new house speaker doesn’t know it, but he was prayed into the job he has now accepted. I didn’t know who he was, but I prayed for him.

Wow! HalleluYah! Like another commenter, Sarah, I too had a sense that this process was being held up because ‘God was up to something’. I was crying out for God’s best candidate to come forward, but didn’t have a name. I’m glad He gave it to you, Cynthia – and that our brother, Michael, responded in obedience – so we could glory in YHVH’s rich provision and His impeccable timing.
Now, Father, help us to keep our commitment to pray for him faithfully – for as Thomas Paine stated in “The American Crisis” on Dec. 19, 1776 – “These are the times that try men’s souls; the summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of his country; but he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph.” Now help us stay the course in intercession!

This morning I viewed three videos of Speaker Johnson giving testimony to Congress on the necessity for Impeachment, the history and corruption of the 2020 election and
a summary of six years of Biden’s corruption of his office and the federal agencies that have been corrupted by multiple years of factual distortion and limiting free speech of any American with contrary positions based on factual evidence. The Speaker powerfully described the dystopian state of America that is in chronic decline morally, financially and culturally. He is truly a man selected by God for such a time as this!

I just love how our awesome God works and how he can bring order out of chaos!! We must continue to pray for a meeting of the minds of those in the House of Representatives as we watch the divisiveness on full display particularly after the horrific attach on Israel. We must continue to pray that Speaker Johnson will remain true to our Lord Jesus Christ and that God will melt the hearts of stone in all branches of our government. To God be the glory.
Answered prayer: “Glorify Your Name, in all the world!”

Just a few minutes ago, I was praying for our country and realized I did not know the name of the new Speaker to pray for them by name and I asked that I would come across it quickly so I could pray powerfully. VIOLA! I came in and sat down to my computer just to send a necessary email and saw this post! HALLELUAH!!!! THANK YOU LORD!

Brothers and Sisters…I think God may have just intervened in giving us our new Speaker of the House. Time will tell, but it would seem God is reclaiming America. Can’t wait to pray and fast in the future, but it might also be time to celebrate this immediate victory!

We rejoice and thank God for hearing the prayers of His people!
We want to share our testimony of how the Holy Spirit has leading us in prayer for the Speaker. We want to honor Derek Prince and IFA for continuing to recommend his book, Shaping History through Prayer and Fasting. We “discovered” his book in early September started reading it. We we impacted particularly by his account in chapter 5 of the selfish and self centered leaders in North Africa as he was serving in the British Army. He asked Holy Spirit: “I searched in my heart for some form of prayer that I could pray with genuine faith and that would cover the needs of the situation. After a while, it seemed that the Holy Spirit gave me this prayer: “Lord, give us leaders such that it will be for Your glory to give us victory through them.”
On 10/5 I woke up with a burden to pray for the House speaker election and I was reminded of Derek’s prayer. I also heard during our church morning prayer (we gather 4 mornings a week to pray for our nation, our state and government) and I heard “64.”
I read Psalm 64 and knew we needed to pray it over the Speaker process. So we wrote a prayer and shared it with prayer groups at our church:
“Lord, give us a Speaker of the House of Representatives such that it will be for Your glory to continue to turn the nation to righteousness through him or her.”
Hover over the process, Holy Spirit, and bring Your order out the chaos. We speak the shalom of Yeshua over the process. Based on Psalm 64:
We forbid and bind in Yeshua’s name every conspiracy of evildoers at work in this process.
We forbid and bind in Yeshua’s name all the tumult of the workers of iniquity, who have sharpened their tongue like a sword, and aimed their arrow—bitter words, to shoot from hiding at the innocent, shooting suddenly at him, with no fear. Visit them with the fear of the Lord and open their eyes to You and Your reality!
We forbid and bind in Yeshua’s name the firming up all evil plans.
We forbid and bind in Yeshua’s name the secret traps and seductions of power they are setting, those saying, “Who would see them?”
We forbid and bind in Yeshua’s name the plotting of injustice, those saying, “We have completed a perfect plot!”
We ask You to shoot them with Your arrows—
So that their tongues will be their downfall.
We ask that You would expose the conspiracies, the tumult of evil workers, the evil plans, secret traps and plotting of injustice that all House members will see them will flee away.
“Then all men will fear.” We ask that You would visit all the members of the House of Representative with the fear of the Lord, NOW, today! Draw them to Your Word and Your houses of worship to hear Your Word and instruction. Give them a heart to receive Your Word and instruction.
Then as Your assigned person is selected,
“they will declare the work of God,
and ponder what He has done.
The righteous will be glad in Adonai
and take refuge in Him.
Let all the upright in heart give glory!”
Amen! It is true! So be it!
This testimony shared on IFA is a confirmation and faith builder as we continue to pray, fast and intercede in this season!
As a further testimony, during this time, my husband brought Derek Prince’s book to his men’s group and 20+ men are weekly reading, studying and discussing it. They are encouraging one another to fast and pray one day a week. These men are being challenged and transformed! God is on the move!

On Monday. before the House reconvened, I began to say out loud that this delay of the selection of the speaker of the house is from God. While some were ringing their hands and severely criticizing other members of Congess and decrying that this is a terrible embarrassment for the Republicans and the House, I was rejoicing believing that God was up to something. I am so encouraged by Cynthia’s remarks. Thank you, Lord, for revealing your hand in all this and indeed for granting to us the joy of seeing your Lordship in all things. May we continue to look not at the things that seem like “all is lost” but look for God in all circumstances. Genesis 50:20.

I looked Emmer up, he was only Repub. who voted to federalize same sex marriage!! No! We kept praying & he dropped out & Mike Johnson was unanimously elected. How ’bout our God!!!!

As I finished reading this incredible testimony of our Lord’s great faithfulness, my mind was reminded of Ephesians 3:20-21 “ 20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever!
