Congressman Mike Bost (R-IL) and his wife, Tracy, joined IFA to pray yesterday. Their positive outlook and deep faith are such an encouragement!

We asked Representative Bost to share how intercessors can pray for our  leaders right now. He emphasized that we need to pray for each and every one of our elected officials, from the local to the national. What to pray? Wisdom with no confusion. Unity in our nation that would set a positive course forward.

Rep. Bost described briefly each of the three stimulus packages:

First bill provides protective equipment, advancement into research

Second bill provides help for people who were laid off and the impact on workers.

The third bill totaled 2 trillion dollars. It provides unemployment insurance for private contractors and self-employed, helps local businesses through local banks, and puts more money into research.

Rep. Bost urged us to pray that the money is used wisely and in the right place without greed. Provides peace to people that the world isn’t falling apart.

He encouraged churches and faith-based 501c3 organizations to apply for the benefits offered through these stimulus packages. He also encouraged all of us to keep tithing! He prayed that our churches would be awakened to care for the widows and orphans and others in need–to care for all the needs people need.

Tracy Bost shared about the impact of this crisis on family. She encouraged families to worship together and focus on Jesus, who will get us through this. She prayed for American families to have eyes to see Jesus in this time that we can “be still and know that He is God.” She prayed that God would ignite something new in the hearts of us within our families.

Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. (Rom 12:12)

When asked about the disappointments and losses that our kids are facing, Tracy shared that God is speaking to her heart, “Just trust me in this.”

In light of this national trauma, Rep. Bost encouraged us to take heart in the fact that we have a risen Savior and we need to remember Him and share our hope in Him with our neighbors (from a safe distance).

“Christians have to pay it forward. Our supplies are limitless because of who God is,” Tracy said.
