I Prayed have prayed
Lord, thank You that these illegal immigrant criminals were caught. Please protect Americans and especially our children from pedophiles and sex offenders. Convict our political leaders to comply with ICE enforcement in order to further protect our country. Let the rule of law and justice reign in America. Amen.

When Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger ended her state’s cooperation with federal immigration enforcement, critics warned it would make Virginia a magnet for illegal alien crime. Now, three men accused of sexually preying on children — all held at the same jail in Staunton — are at the center of a standoff between state and federal authorities over whether they will be handed over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin called out Spanberger directly, demanding the state reverse course and comply with ICE detainers lodged against the three men.

From Breitbart:

“ICE has lodged detainers for three illegal aliens accused of sex crimes against children, all being held at the same jail in Staunton, Virginia,” Mullin said. “DHS is calling on Governor Abigail Spanberger and her fellow sanctuary politicians to commit to not releasing these criminals from jail and to instead hand them over to ICE. Under Spanberger, the Commonwealth of Virginia has become a magnet for illegal alien crime. These reckless sanctuary policies are putting American lives at risk.”

Among those arrested by ICE agents is illegal alien got-away Efren Ramirez Escobedo of Mexico, previously charged with sexual assault of a victim between 13 and 14 years old as well as sexual assault involving forcible intercourse.

Likewise, ICE agents arrested illegal alien Bayron Jose De Paz-Lopez of Guatemala after he was charged with nine counts of child solicitation and attempted sexual assault against a child under 15 years old. Paz-Lopez crossed the United States-Mexico border in 2021 and was released into the U.S. interior by the Biden administration.

The third man, Santos Bautista-Molina of Honduras, was arrested by ICE after being charged with nine counts of child solicitation and attempted sexual assault against a child under 15. Bautista-Molina has been living in the United States illegally for more than 20 years, having first entered the country in September 2005.

The cases spotlight a recurring tension between sanctuary jurisdictions and federal immigration enforcement. When local governments refuse to honor ICE detainers — holds that request a jurisdiction keep a detainee in custody until federal agents can take over — suspects can be released back into communities before ICE can act. Critics argue that in cases involving accused child predators, those policies prioritize political positioning over the safety of the most vulnerable.

Scripture is very clear about the duty to protect children — and equally clear about the responsibility of governing authorities to bear the sword against those who do evil. When state-level sanctuary policies actively obstruct federal law enforcement from removing men accused of sexually assaulting children, the result is a system that shields predators at the expense of victims. Believers can pray for the children and families affected by these crimes, for justice to be done swiftly and fully, and for elected officials at every level of government to prioritize the safety and dignity of the innocent over political ideology.
