Will God give us practical and strategic insight during these times? The answer to that question is a resounding, YES!
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. Jas 1:5
Early one morning, as the latest news of chaos within our nation ran through my mind, I picked up the phone to call my friend, Karen Hardin.
“We must do something!” was our united cry. Before hanging up the phone that day we prayed and asked God to give us a strategy for our nation. He was quick to answer.
Within moments of that phone call, the City-by-City.org strategy was birthed to take back our nation, one city at a time.
In biblical days, Abraham interceded with God to that the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, would be saved:
Then Abraham approached him and said: “Will you sweep away the righteous with the wicked? What if there are fifty righteous people in the city? Will you really sweep it away and not spare the place for the sake of the fifty righteous people in it?
Far be it from you to do such a thing—to kill the righteous with the wicked, treating the righteous and the wicked alike. Far be it from you! Will not the judge of all the earth do right?”
The Lord said, “If I find fifty righteous people in the city of Sodom, I will spare the whole place for their sake.”
As you know, Abraham then began to negotiate with God. He knew the two cities were corrupt and full of sin—not much different than America is now. He knew that there were few if any righteous living in those cities except his nephew and his family. But He also knew God was gracious! So, Abraham interceded for the two cities to be spared as he negotiated down from 50, to 40, to 30, to 20 and finally,
Then he said, “May the Lord not be angry, but let me speak just once more. What if only ten can be found there?”
He answered, “For the sake of ten, I will not destroy it” (Gen 18:23-32).
This is the city-by-city strategy: To raise up a minimum of TEN people in each city across America to stand in the gap as watchmen in our cities. It is a call to link arms together, as in the day of Nehemiah, to pray, and rebuild the broken-down places–to repent, pray, and seek the Lord for our cities.
Jeremiah 29:7 says, And seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray to the Lord for it; for in its peace you will have peace. The New Living Translation says, “for your welfare will be determined by the welfare of your city.”
That is a powerful and thought-provoking truth. If our city has no peace, neither will we have peace. This has played out in our nation. If our city does not prosper, prosperity will elude us as well.
The word prosper is not just connected to money. John 3:1-2 says, “I desire that you prosper and be in health even as your soul prospers.” This referred to prosperity in safety, health, wealth, rest, peace, etc. Our cities, businesses, and families need to prosper once again.
We have been given the authority to take back our cities for God.
“So the Lord said, “If you have faith as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be pulled up by the roots and be planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.” (Lk 17:6)
If we have faith, we can speak to our city and our city will obey us. This is the word of God. The word seek in this scripture means to require, demand, and pursue it.
I am reminded of King David today. Each time a new battle came his way, he sought God for a strategy. He didn’t assume the previous strategy would work the same way it did last time. No, he sought God each time for a new strategy. When God gave him a strategy and he followed it, he had victory every single time. We believe we will see the same thing with our City-By-City strategy.
Will you link arms with us to be a “watchman on the wall” for your city? Will you be one of the ten? Will you help us reach out to others you know so that each and every city in America can have a team of intercessors praying that God will save their city?
It is time to see our nation return to God and for intercessors to link arms—city-by-city.

Dear God, Soften our hearts and quicken our minds; let us seek you and your wisdom, seek your insight and your guidance for our cities and for our nation. Let us dwell on this message and this challenge to call people to you; to repent for and call on your forgiveness and your Spirit working among the people, the nation; esp. among those who claim your name and nature. Thank you for these two women and the idea and organization to call people to prayer and to action. May we hear and see your word and your plans making a way.

I am praying for my city Pomona CA. It is in so much need of God. There are so many homeless and I pray the Lord will restore their lives. Pomona was named after a goddess. So I pray that this city is released from this curse.

Several months ago I started praying for cities. Soon after I started collecting cities of my state of Pennsylvania. Now I’m collecting the cities of counties of this state. I mention the cities and specifically ask that Jesus would rule and reign over the land masses and any water associated with those cities. My prayer team leader sent me this because she said this new strategy was of my heart. It’s so good to hear others are praying this way too.
I am praying for my city of Westfield, Massachusetts that Jesus Christ will minister to these people and change the heart of those who do not believe in Him. I pray that the Holy Spirit will move and help us to have a desire to follow the Lord and His ways. May this be reflected in the way we live, the way we act and the way we vote in November. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

Father, I pray by the power of your Holy Spirit, that you open our eyes and ears to see and hear truth. I pray for Charlotte, North Carolina, and all it’s surrounding communities, as well as for our entire nation; for what we find here, we find everywhere. It is the hardness of hearts, to be comfortable in our arrogance (“haughty eyes”); it is to be so prideful that we look down upon others, feeling superior to them; it is to have a lying tongue, willing to deceive ourselves, and others; It is to have “hands that shed innocent blood”, with no remorse concerning murder; and among many other things, it is the acceptance of anyone who stirs up dissension among our fellow brothers and sisters, of any color. We speak so much of knowing you; and yet, we support evil within ourselves, not waning to change. We pray for many things; yet, never speak, nor pray against segregation, the KKK, or White Supremacists groups who lynch, and laugh! We want you to bring back the old ways, and the old days. We want “their” violence to stop, but not “ours”. As one writer wrote, “so that we can go back to our normal way of life”. Lord, my prayer is that we don’t go back to our “normal way of life”, but a “Better way of life” for all Americans! Lord, I pray you hear my prayer, and in Jesus name, please forgive us all our sins, and bring us to you, To worship you in “spirit and in truth”; so that one day, we truly become “One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all”. I pray YOU open our eyes and ears to see YOU LORD, so that we can hear the voices of all the peaceful protestors wanting equality, and that we stop throwing them down for not honoring “our heroes” who killed those before them, and today kill their spirit.

Lord You showed me a vision for today based on Nehemiah. I was to return to a neighborhood where I had been invited by a resident to pray for their sick friend. This time I was to return taking baskets filled with encouraging Scriptures and Messages on CDs, a list of local Christian radio station channels, and Bibles. These baskets were given to the person who had invited me to come pray, who lived and was known in that neighborhood. This person was glad to distribute these. Some of the neighbors returned to say thank you. In the Book of Nehemiah we see repairing and rebuilding being done by those living near each section of the wall. United together for the same purpose. It is a spiritual battle as well. The enemy doesn’t want the work to be done. They worked with their tools in one hand rebuilding or repairing as needed. In their other hand held a weapon. Our weapon is our prayers and the Word of God. Lord we trust You to show us how You want us to serve You and Your Creation and Your people in each of our neighborhoods. Help us to work together through You in rebuilding and repairing our broken neighborhoods. Where there is no vision the people perish, give us Your Vision. Help us to pray for Thy Kingdom to come and Thy will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. Amen
Father God Abba Father I cry out to you for my city and and the cities in Pensylvania. You are the God that set up our citys by our forefathers and dug wells full of living water that have now been filled in by the enemy of our souls. Father we repent for allow the enemy take our eyes off of you and turned and disobeyed You statutues and commandments that we are to live by. We turn our backs on You and have gone our own selfish ways instead of focusing on the one we can rely on. Forgive us Father for our many sins we have done against your name, revive us Isaiah 64:1 Oh, that YOU would rend the heavens! that YOU would come down! Father for this we repent for ourselves and our nation and our cities. We need Your living water to flow from heaven and flow over from those who know YOU flow out to others but Lord its only YOU that can cause this to happen by the power of HOLY SPIRIT. May the Blood of Jesus that was poured out for us on the Cross cleanse us and bring us to the foot of the cross in complete surrender. in Jesus mighty Name Amen.
Ladies – I’ve been asking the Lord how best to respond to your article because cities are key, but adding more teams of intercessors may not be what’s really needed right now. I think you can agree that there are a lot of people across our nation already praying. Fasts, prayer initiatives, etc are ongoing and are well-intentioned and anointed in many cases. The prayer team I am part of, which is not associated with any ministry but is just a grass roots, tired of waiting on the BIG NAMES to do something team launched back in February to pray for our elections, has had ongoing prayer for “gateway” cities into our nation. We took a look at all the cities hit initially by COVID when China sent 430,000 people into the US. We kept waiting for the ekklesia to rise up in these cities and to stand in the gap, but in most cases this has not happened. As we considered this phenomenon, we felt the Lord speak about what is missing and why these cities are on fire. Missing in each of these cities, and in others that are under siege to a lesser degree, is a unified Church operating in full kingdom and apostolic authority. It does no good to have boots on the ground and not have proper leadership to deploy the troops in a unified engagement of the enemy. If you recall, when Jerusalem was destroyed by the Babylonians, a REMNANT – the poorest people of the land, was left, but they were ineffective in rebuilding and in repelling their enemy. It wasn’t until Nehemiah shows up on the scene that their enemies were dealt with and order began to be restored. The principal is seen in the NT when Paul writes to Titus instructing him to set things in order and appoint ELDERS in every city. Sheep need shepherds – when there are no shepherds, sheep wander around aimlessly and are unprotected. We have an enemy who understands whoever owns the cities owns the regions, and whoever owns the gateway cities owns the nation. So we have been praying for God to either raise up or geographically relocate His apostles and position them in each critical city around the US. We have also been praying Jesus’ priestly prayer in John 17 – that we would be ONE. And finally, we have been praying for a revelation of the absolute Kingdom authority that is ours in Jesus, because to pray without the belief that the prayer becomes a decree of God’s kingdom purpose is to pray an empty prayer. And to pray out of our own understanding instead of praying and releasing Throne room conversations Jesus, who is ever making intercession, is having with the Father is to waste our breath. So we say, Father, send and establish kingdom leaders in every key city in America. Let them stand fearless, focused, and eyes fixed on Jesus as they execute the responsibilities of the office to which you have called them. And bring an unprecedented unity in Your people to set aside petty differences and join together as ONE MAN, to take back all we abdicated. To you and to all at IFA, We appreciate you and are grateful for your commitment to seeing the saints equipped for Kingdom purposes.

Intercession is key, mandated and very important. Evangelism as well. God desires to hear from us and is doing much work through us. “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.” Psalm 122: 6. Praising God for who He is. Amen Las Vegas really needs prayer. Sadly soooo many professing Christian’s vote wrong and they “hate” President Trump. That is very disturbing and they are making excuses the abortions saying “it’s not really a baby”! I’ve been to churches where Pastor’s say mean things about the President and they won’t honor him or pray for him. This ought not be, because we are to pray for those in authority no matter what party. And yes I’m speaking of so-called Christian’s Pray for Las Vegas.
Yes, sadly, there are many pastors who like to be politically correct, tickling the ears of their congregation. Even worse, there are many like those described in Voddie Bauchman’s sermon “The Narrow Gate and the Wide Gate” (on You Tube).
As he points out, many pastors tell people that all they have to do is recite a few words and they are saved. These are the wolves in sheep’s clothing who betray the flock and the Lord Jesus.
Amen Jacque! That is so true. I’m shocked when I hear Christian say that they Hate president Trump,when God call us to pray for all our leaders we don’t have to agree with all their policies, but as Christians God tells us to pray for them. These Christians have forgotten the God had mercy on them and that God says “He will have mercy and compassion on whom he wants to.They are disobeying the commandments and the Laws of God, because they have become hateful and the love of God it’s not in them anymore. They don’t care if the people they vote are for abortion, they vote because of hate for this president.We really have to lo pray for these so called Christian to come to God in repentance. I like to walk and I like to pray. God put on my heart to do prayer walks around hospitals, schools, police and fire stations (so far). I find this a wonderful way to use my exercise time in focused intercession. I’m doing schools and 1st responder locations initially. Since the schools are struggling with tough decisions I’m circling them before the school year starts.
I so want my town to prosper and be a place where children learn – not be indoctrinated; where first responders know they are appreciated; and all people can go about in safety and freedom.

Yes, we already have a group of 5-6 Intercessors that pray weekly for Tompkins County, which contains Ithaca, NY. Every week we pray over a different town or village and find out their leadership and pray over them. Thank You Lord for being patient with us. We’re waking up now and getting on the prayerwall and raising our swords. Halelujiah!
The Body of Christ in Meridian, Mississippi joins in prayer with each city in the United States to pray and beseech God our Father to fill us with the Holy Spirit and power to intercede for our city and state and nation. We thank Him for His loving care and watchfulness and ask that He come mightily to turn our city and nation around to a wholehearted devotion to Him and His word, to fulfill all His purposes for our state and America, to awaken the Body of Christ to rise up and intercede as watchmen on the wall for all that He desires to do for His people. We ask for prayer that the Ekklesia of Erie, Pa identify themselves as we prepare a fishnet for harvest over our city, our county, and our region. We ask that all religious spirits in this area be permanently bound and sent to the foot of the cross. We ask that turfdom issues among the churches be broken off and disappear as God begins to form His ONE NEW MAN in this city/region and we lay aside our foolish differences. As we approach the midnight hour upon this nation, we cry out that all Erie County may be saved, and the Ekklesia arise to take back dominion of this land as God to Adam in Genesis 1:26 and that the watchmen on the wall around our area be alert, that prophets rise up and hear the current word of the Lord for this city, and that the apostolic foundation of this city be cemented in place within the next 60 days.
Lord you told me and my friend you put us here in Prompton, Pa to be safe. I thank you that the virus has been low in Wayne County, Pa. I pray that safety that safety will go out to all the states, counties and towns in the U.S.and that you would remember our soldiers who went to fight World War 1 and 2 , and other battles Vietnam, Korean , Afghanistan and other places who died and prayed for there families. Protect our military, police, Drs, nurses and everyone in our nation from this virus. Also protect us from the very wealthy man who wants to put something in the injection so we would be tracked by cell towers and satellites. This is not from you. Please release your warring angels to confound the plan if the enemy for such a time as this. We Trust in you Yahweh and the blood of Jesus and the Holy Spirit to keep us safe from the enemy had this virus created for other purposes. Amen

Lord, you are the Lord and the lover of the city and county of Denver Colorado. We lift up Mayor Michael Hancock and each and every city council member to experience You. May their eyes and hearts be opened to the depravity and arrogant decisions they have made that has hurt the citizens of Denver. May they come to their senses before it’s too late for them to make a decision. Revival come to Denver and all of Colorado!! Restore righteousness in our state for the glory and honor to our King!!!

I will add Argyle TX to the list of cities (suburb of Dallas) and Dallas as well !!! We need to rise up and pray like never before!! Healing the hearts of the people will in turn heal our land and nation. Lord we need you like never before to hear our cries and have mercy on us. We have sinned and fallen away from keeping you at the center of our hearts and lives for way too long. I want to live a SET APART life from this world and live a life that is worthy of your love, mercy, compassion, and grace.
The account of Abraham and God is one of my favorite accounts of a man who pleads with God for His mercy, but in the end he goes his way and God, His way. Abraham is an example to me of one who is faithful to prayer and yet when he is done accepts and trusts the God whom he knows is merciful and trustworthy. Trusting in the Sovereign nature of God took faith but also He had a relationship with this God whom he learned to trust and rest in. Yes, I will join and encourage others to join in Cuyahoga Falls and Stow, Ohio.
Let God love flow to those from us to those outside our city, but may God’s protection be evident when evil seeks to invade.
It is with humility that I share this comment/prayer. Months ago, it was impressed upon me heavily over a few days thoughts or scriptural direction regarding Ezra / Nehemiah. It had to do with rebuilding. It also had to do with our president being an “example and leader” in rebuilding our nation. At that time, God was placing a deep burden on my heart (and it looks like many others) for the task of rebuilding our nation. The broken down walls seemed to be reflective of the present state of this nation but also the reason why… the body of Christ has become ineffective, apathetic and uninvolved in core matters of both local, state and federal government. Many Christians also have abandoned time in prayer. Prayer is a key to the overall health of our nation…and we largely abandoned it. Instead of many Christians putting it first, they have relinquished it to a “last resort”.
The results were evident. Damage of every sort in every area of our lives. Damage to towns, cities, states and most of all – families. The broken down walls were symbolic that we have allowed sin into just about every area of our life and nation – it has permeated so many areas the stench has reached into the heavens.
We needed to rise up and stand in the gap…and to send out a call to rebuild.
Your article gives not only confirmation to what was impressed on me months ago but it also gives us structure and guidelines on how we must move forward.
Thank you for sharing this desperately needed article and word. May God grant and move in our hearts to share this timely piece and saturate the body of Christ with it. And may the body of Christ feel an intense burden to act on this immediately. Help us Lord, for without you we cannot be successful. Amen.
It is with humility that I share this comment/prayer. Months ago, it was impressed upon me heavily over a few days thoughts or scriptural direction regarding Ezra / Nehemiah. It had to do with rebuilding. It also had to do with our president being an “example and leader” in rebuilding our nation. At that time, God was placing a deep burden on my heart (and it looks like many others) for the task of rebuilding our nation. The broken down walls seemed to be reflective of the present state of this nation but also the reason why… the body of Christ had become ineffective, apathetic and uninvolved in core matters of both local, state and federal government.
The results were evident. Damage in every area of our lives. Damage to towns, cities, states and most of all – families. The broken down walls were symbolic that allowed sin had permeated just about every area of our life and nation.
We needed to rise up and stand in the gap…and to send out a call to rebuild.
Your article gives not only confirmation to what was impressed on me months ago but it also gives us structure and guidelines on how we must move forward.
Thank you for sharing this desperately needed article and word. May God grant move in our hearts to share this timely piece and saturate the body of Christ with it. And may the body of Christ feel an intense burden to act on this immediately. Help us Lord, for without you we cannot be successful. Amen.

Yes, amen, this so reasonates with me and what God is saying and doing in these days!! Thank you for sharing the insights of Abraham’s intercession for Sodom and Gomorrah. Yes, these are the days that we are living in, and we are praying for a great awakening, a great and mighty move of the Holy Spirit, a revival like never before as multitudes in the valley of decision. Yes, these are surely the days that we are living in, like the days of Elijah, and any great move of God always begins with prayer, prayer as never before. God has placed us here for such a time as this!!
I live in Clayton, NJ and I will pray for our town that it will have peace and return to our Lord. I also see a lot of beer gardens in our town and drugs so I will pray that our God becomes the center of our homes and change the direction in which Clayton is going along with our Nation.
A few weeks ago I was impressed by the Lord to begin praying for my city of Leavenworth, KS. This article & the webinar I watched by Karen Hardin is confirmation to me. I have signed up & am beginning today. I praise God for giving me this opportunity to join him in his work.

The peace and prosperity of health and wholeness in many of our cities (Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Portland, Jefferson City, St. Louis …) has been compromised by electing corrupt Barabbian politicians to rule over them.

THE BOUNDARIES OF FREEDOM
As we celebrated 4th of July in America we hearkened back to a national declaration before we even had a nation. Our freedom, after July 4, 1776, didn’t come easy. The freedom we enjoy today came at a very high price.
No nation on earth has ever been perfect. Just study history. The United States of America has never been perfect. Just study history. However, problems in our past should not discourage us from moving forward into the future. The question will then arise: on what path should our nation move forward in our freedom?
There is no such thing as absolute freedom. Absolute freedom is a fantasy. If that fantasy is believed it will lead to disaster. Freedom must have boundaries. Parents set loving boundaries for their children. The motive is love, not hate. What will be the loving boundaries of freedom in our nation?
No nation is perfect, but if we continue to remove the safe and loving boundaries set by the Judeo-Christian ethic, the freedom gained will lead us down, not up.
God has set boundaries of freedom for us. The more we adhere to God’s ways, the more we will enjoy the blessings represented by our National Motto: “In God We Trust.” The freedom reflected in this motto came at a very high price: Jesus Christ.
Please pray for a revival and/or a Great Awakening in the U.S.A. by the grace of God Almighty. May God’s boundaries of freedom be restored in the U.S.A. more and more. Amen.

Amen to this challenge . I have been praying for this city I live in for a long time. Especially of late praying for protection of police ,firemen, paramedics,ministries in our city, Officials by name. my street as I get to know the names of my neighbors and let them know I am here for them. I have a sign in my front yard a couple made for me. It says..You may meet me and forget me but if you meet Jesus Christ and forget Him you have lost everything. I have many people that drive down my street and walk down my street. My prayer daily is…I be His hands and feet and heart…He reminds me that in each city in each state across this nation there are people interceding for their state and their city. We are making a difference. If we remain faithful I believe we will remain ONE NATION UNDER GOD. Luke 12:1-5 is a scripture I came across and see this is what is happening within our government as God has put His laborers in place.It is not a time to walk in fear but exercise our measures of faith we have been each given. A time to be as the apostle Paul exhorts us in Philippians 2 “My greatest joy is to see my brothers and sisters preferring one another. Father God: I praise You that You are sovereign and still in control even though everything seems to be out of control. I pray for our major cities where most of the violence is occurring. May You arise, O LORD, and Your enemies be scattered. May You open spiritually blind eyes and unplug spiritually deaf ears to hear Your voice, saying “I AM that I AM.” You are who all these protesters need in their lives so that they may find decent jobs, peace, love and joy in their lives so that they don’t have to steal, kill and hurt and destroy due to their lost conditions. Protect our innocent people, LORD, who do love You and trust You to protect. May faith guide believers and not fear during these trying times. You told us that Your truth endures to all generations, so I pray this over our families who know You and trust You to guide us through this Pandemic and into a time of peace again. My town is not on the list. Pitman,NJ was founded and started as a Methodist campground back in the early 1900’s. There is a “wheel” in the center of the “grove” where there is a tabernacle that the Pastor would ring the bell and people would come to church to worship and pray. Pitman has always been a “dry” town up til a few years ago where now breweries and pubs are popping up. I see change coming in the wrong direction where the Lord is being left out and He needs to be put back into the center of this small town of only about 9,000 citizens. I pray for Pitman to return to the Lord and to seek His face for truth and forgiveness in Jesus Name.

This has been in my heart for some time and even as I write it now, I feel it is somewhat like puzzle pieces, where I’m not sure how this fits in. However, since the coronavirus press briefings began, I felt that there should be some faith leaders that would stand with the president to pray over our nation. Right there, on national tv for all to witness. Although there have been fasts and prayers, I feel we need to bring it to the spotlight. The governor of Louisiana just declared a 3 day fast and prayer for their state if you were so inclined. Why aren’t other governors doing this? Why aren’t the pastors and faith leaders of America speaking next to the president? There have been some, yes, I’m not saying it hasn’t happened. In every instance alongside the president should be a Pastor ready to speak. I listened to the conference call with the Capitol Ministries Director, please reach out and like that puzzle piece, does this fit right now?

Lord, I am so touched by these prayers of faithful brothers and sisters in Christ. Oh Lord, please hear us and give us discernment and wisdom. Equip us to stand firm and continue in the work You have set before us. The tasks look daunting and our flesh is weak, but You will give us strength. As this is the time on the Hebrew calendar known as the “Dire Straits” when the children of Israel and the mixed multitude came to the Jordan and were to cross over to possess the land. They sent in spies 10 came back with an unfavorable report because of giants in the land and fortified cities and the “size of the people”. God had promised them this land but they didnt have the vision to see that if God is for you who can be against you?. I am standing in my state of South Dakota for righteousness also inquiring of the Lord as Joshua what are the strongholds here. I live in a very small town and ” yes” I believe you Father that You are mightier than any principality we face, You are stronger than any demonic hindrance and You are more fierce than the works of darkness. As we fall on our knees you will show us the strategies and plans that the enemies of You and your people cant stand against. Father have mercy on my city of Asheville NC. Here is a city that has been shaped by secularism, has been the playground of the rich and famous, and has waxed evil in Your sight. Father weaved among all these tares have been the faithful and fruitful people of God believing you for the founding of a Christian school here, Christian women’s club who brought Your Word to countless women who otherwise would not have heard the Gospel and many other ministries in Your Name. I pray that we who stand as Children of God in Asheville will go to her walls and pray Your mercy again on Asheville. May my church care to reach the neighborhood around it.
