Elected Officials Are Impacted by Our Prayers
Have you wondered if your voice has been heard?
Find out when your state prays.
Recently, I reached into the mailbox and pulled out a heavy package. To my surprise, it was from the State of Tennessee. I opened it and read the letter inside. I was shocked. My voice had been heard!
The letter was from Tre Hargett, Secretary of State for Tennessee.
Thank you for your recent email regarding ensuring the integrity of elections in Tennessee. In my reply to you, I outlined many of the ways that our office works to make sure our great state is one where it is easy to vote and hard to cheat. . . .
I am especially grateful for your prayers. They are the greatest gift given to any elected official, and I am humbled you would take the time to lift me up to Him.
Along with the letter, Mr. Hargett had enclosed a book, The Tennessee Blue Book for 2021-2022.
Oh, my goodness! My heart was overwhelmed with thankfulness by the letter, the gift enclosed, but mostly because this man, a leader in our state, acknowledged those who were praying for him. He understood that the greatest gift we can give any elected official is, indeed, prayer.
The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working]. (Jas 5:16 AMP) Our prayers are working. Our voices are being heard. We are gaining momentum and we cannot stop now.
The book is packed full of information about the leaders and departments of Tennessee. With over 900 pages, it gives me detailed guidance in praying more effectively and accurately.
This, however, didn’t happen without action on my part. Thanks to IFA, I have contacted my governor and state leaders many times. Each time I receive a call to action from IFA I respond. Time and again, I send letters and emails.
As I held the Tennessee Blue Book in my hand it stirred a question: What are we willing to do to make an impact in our state? Are we willing to send emails to the state governing officials? Are we willing to take time to pray and fast for our state? If we want to see change in our state, it will take some sacrifice and action on our part. Mainly the sacrifice of our time. Are we willing to do that? I believe we are.
Please send a message to your elected officials. Visit the IFA Action Center. It’s easy to send a message!
Today, I want to encourage those of you who have been praying and seeking the Lord on behalf of our states and our nation. God is hearing our prayers. The leaders of this nation are hearing our prayers. Many of them covet our prayers. It is, after all, the very best gift we can give an elected government leader. May we keep up the good work. May we continue to pray over our leaders. May we continue to see real change, and may we reap the benefits of one nation under God once again as we all take action.

I just loved how President Trump met often with Christian ministers for prayer for God’s guidance for his presidency. And how he regularly used written prayers sent in by a congregation at his staff meetings. He and his staff would take turns reading the prayers out loud for guidance when dealing with difficult issues.
My husband and I wrote President Trump often during his presidency, and we received mailed thank you notes (with salutations such as “God bless you,”) each and every time we wrote. We even received thank you notes from Mrs. Trump when we sent birthday cards to the First Lady! While we know the White House has a large staff to handle correspondence, it was thrilling to see how much President Trump treasures Americans’ prayers.
How encouraging is this response from Tre Hargett, Secretary of State for Tennessee, to Ms. Potter! What a joy to read – prayers work!
Kim, Tennessee is a Great Patriotic state. Thankfully it is one of the strongest red states. It is where Pastor Greg Locke Thunders the gospel from his pulpit.
Your enthusiasm and gaithfulness are inspiring when I have seen you on the morning broadcast for IFA.
I live in California.
Our challenge here is to maintain Faith , that prayer is having an effect. Since 2006 approximately, I have contacted ..then-,at that time..Barbara Boxer, still to this day Dianne Feinstein.. And unfortunately. now’Alex Padilla and Pelosi.
From the Boxer Feinstein menagerie-, back in those original days.. I had sent ..in the first three or four years.. maybe 30 different types of Correspondence- co – generated by ..Doctor James Dobson.. and. also Jay Sekulow. Without fail I received Dear John letters in return.
I do not say this to be a defeatist or negative,.. and I always like to remember at this point in listening to a similar conversation ..when I had the honor of beholding- on one of the Tuesday or Thursday morning. IFA broadcasts, the woman who had been praying for the overturn of Roe v Wade for 48 years ..at that point, which was about two months ago.
So I know often it seems like the sky is made out of copper ….(brass?)but I know that we are not called to rely on our understanding of things ..but on the Lord’s faithfulness.
I try to continually focus on that womens faithfulness.
IN Jesus Name,
Amen
Wow that is so awesome! We all can keep praying
We pray from a position of victory obtained by Christ on the cross. God is honored and pleased by our prayers.
This is a great article, Kim. I have to admit, I often wonder what , if any, impact that our letters and e-mails have upon our elected officials.
This is a great confirmation that these efforts are certainly not in vain. Lord Jesus, please, by the power of Holy Spirit, help us to not ever grow weary in doing good. Please, keep us sensitive to the things that Holy Spirit is directing us to do. In Jesus’ name.
Wow! I am so impressed by Sec’y of State of Tennessee! “Would to God” Ohio had as much integrity, honesty, godliness as that. We voted in this year’s primary. I am greatly disturbed by what I saw & heard; part of which is: dominion voting machines–“REALLY?!” I asked a man there who was supposed to “be in charge” of that day’s voting. He tried to convince me that they were not connected to internet . . . . I do not believe what he said. On top of that, a woman worker there followed us as we walked around the pretty small room–she looked to me like some “ninja” that would tackle me: 70-some yr. old lady, if she didn’t like how things transpired. 🙁 After we voted Nov. 2020, I heard about dominion voting machines. So I phoned our local Bd. of Elections, asking them if we used dominion machines. Instead of answering me, she told me to call our county commissioners. When I asked them, they responded, “No, we did not use dominion voting machines.” A month or 2 later, either IFA, or Association of Mature American Citizens (AMAC) sent me an email stating: “STARK COUNTY OHIO USED DOMINION VOTING MACHINES.” I hate dealing with liars, and people you don’t know if they’re telling truth this time, or not. BOOOOOO!
When I went to vote at my small town city hall, I handed my paper to a volunteer that stated what my affiliation was for the election. I always thought that how I vote is a private matter. To my surprise, mother information was yelled across the room. I was furious!
I am an elected official of the Bloomington, MN School Board. I feel the prayers as I battle some of the issues in my district as the only Board member who truly holds to God’s word and walks with Jesus. It is so intense at times and the battle rages, but God has given me His insight, vision and hope. I am now entering the race to be a MN State Representative for my Senate District. Please pray for me in this race, to be like Gideon and follow God’s leading for the victory. When I win in November, I will need continuing prayer to be an influencer for righteousness. I will need wisdom, insight, discernment, physical and spiritual energy to persevere. Your prayers are deeply welcomed and appreciated.
I will write down your name and keep you in may prayers. God bless you as you run, refresh you and give you his wisdom.
Praying for you Beth from Texas!! May God’s favor precede your every action… in Jesus mighty name!!
I stand with you for your courageous action. The Nation needs more believers like you. My husband and I will be praying for divine protection, discernment and Holy Spirit power to take the necessary actions the Lord leads you to take and know you are victorious in Jesus Christ.
Praying for you Beth from CA. But please pray this back. We have evil people in our State government1 Thanks!
One of my state representatives thanked me for praying for him. He stated it was very encouraging to him to know he was being prayed for rather than all the negative criticism he receives.
