I Prayed have prayed
Reading Time: 2 minutes

Pray for the American citizens who are imprisoned and/or detained in North Korea. Pray for justice and hope to return to all of Korea.

[H]e will not falter or be discouraged till he establishes justice on earth. In his teaching the islands will put their hope (Is. 42:4)

“A U.S. citizen was detained in North Korea and being investigated for seeking the overthrow the North Korean government, the country’s state-controlled news agency said.

Kim Sang Dok committed ‘criminal acts of hostility aimed to overturn’ North Korea—‘not only in the past but also during his last stay before interception’— the Korean Central News Agency said. The ‘interception’ had taken place April 22 at Pyongyang’s international airport.

Mr. Kim, also known by his English name, Tony, taught at Pyongyang University of Science and Technology.

South Korea’s Yonhap News Agency reported that Mr. Kim is in his late 50s and had been involved in aid work in North Korea.

Mr. Kim is the third known U.S. citizen to be detained by North Korea in recent months.

Representatives for the U.S. Embassy in Seoul didn’t immediately respond Wednesday to requests for comment.

Tensions between Pyongyang and Washington have grown tauter in recent months. In September North Korea conducted its fifth nuclear test and last month it paraded a new long-range missile, a day before a failed missile test.

Separately this past week, the U.S. declared operational an advanced U.S. missile-defense system being installed in South Korea.

‘South Korea can suffer great disaster any moment,’ it said, without elaborating. (Excerpted from The Wall Street Journal, reporting by Jonathan Cheng.)

“Cindy and Fred Warmbier haven’t spoken to their son Otto in over a year.

He is trapped in North Korea, accused of committing hostile acts against the Kim Jong Un regime.

They have had no word or indication about how he’s doing since March 3, 2016, and they say that with tensions on the rise, it’s now time to speak. . . .

His parents say their son, a 22-year-old student at the University of Virginia, had been on a tour of the country.

North Korea charged him with committing a ‘hostile act’ against the state, alleging he was encouraged to do so by a member of a church in his home state of Ohio, a secretive university organization and even the CIA. . . .

Warmbier was sentenced to 15 years’ hard labor after the March 2016 trial, which reportedly lasted less than an hour. . . .

Detained Americans are often used as bargaining chips in negotiations with the United States. The two other Americans in custody are Kim Sang Duk — also known as Tony Kim — and Kim Dong Chul. (Excerpted from CNN, reporting by Joshua Berlinger.)

As You Lord send Your fear before them and confound the enemy that fight against Your people, protect Your people of the strategies of the wicked one and free Your people. You are good. Let every soul be subject unto the higher power. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God according to Romans 13:1. Your Word is sure. In Jesus name!

Lord hear our prayers! We need your help and guidance Father. I lift up all who are being persecuted for loving you and your ways. I pray for freedom and peace for all being held captive all over the world. I pray Father that you will free the leaders of our countries to be able to sit down together, talk and work things out peacefully without violence. Free all leaders from their ego’s, false pride and the feelings I have to be the one in control. Lord you are the only One in control they just don’t know that or have forgotten through being given power in their serving other people. Lord I ask that you will open hearts and minds to seek you in discerning the issues of this world. May your will be done. It is in your son Jesus’ name, amen.
