Applicants writing about volunteering for conservative organizations or even door-knocking for President Trump in their admissions essays are getting into top schools, according to college admissions advisor Christopher Rim.
āTheyāre like, āListen, this is what I believe in, and Iām going to talk about it. And if the admissions officer fundamentally disagrees with me and rejects me, thatās fine, because this is who I am and thatās not the school for me,’ā Rim, the founder and CEO ofĀ college consulting firm Command Education, told The Post.
Even though it might seem like a risky move, Rim says itās working out for his advisees. Clients who leaned into controversial political issues in their essays gained early admission to Harvard, Penn, Stanford and Princeton for the 2025-2026 school year. …
Before this application cycle, clients who had volunteered to help elect a Republican would often opt not to put it on their application. Or, if they volunteered for a conservative organization, they might not have named it on their list of extracurriculars.
āNow theyāre naming them without issue, and theyāre even asking for recommendations from politicians who in the past definitely would have been deemed ātoo controversialā to get a recommendation from,ā Rim explained. āAnd theyāre getting into Harvard.ā …
āUp until this year, the attitude was more, āWhy try to be controversial when I donāt need to be?āā Rim explained. āBut now we see a lot of students speaking out and being vocal. I donāt know if it has to do with Trump winning the election, but they donāt feel as scared.ā …
āTheyāre really doubling down on their beliefs and being true to who they are, and ultimately thatās what colleges want. They want interesting students who will stand up for what they think is the right thing.ā

Heavenly Father, we lift up every student attending college and pray that they would encounter the One, True, Living God for themselves. We ask that within the walls and campus classrooms, You would also raise up men and women of faith after Your own heart to instruct. Higher Education only comes from Your throne and lines up with Your extraordinary word (The Bible). LORD, capture the hearts of those who are lost, encourage and give wisdom to Your beloved. Remind each campus of their true heritage and founding fathers. Increase Your footprint in every classroom and be glorified. In Jesus’ precious name. Amen.
Father, thank you for the courage of these kids. May they continue to show their colors and not be afraid. But help them to stay brave when confronted by evil. I praise you for what you are doing.
May it be so at Penn State Lord!
