An Open Letter to the Justices of the Supreme Court of the United States
We want to share with you this beautiful letter an IFA intercessor has sent to the 9 members of the Supreme Court. She also sent a copy to each clerk, with a wonderful explanation of how she has been praying for each clerk by name (a sample of one of those letters is below). We hope that this inspires you to write your own letters to the Supreme Court justices, and their clerks. We believe there has never been a prayer effort like 50 Days of Prayer for Life, where the justices, their clerks and individual attorneys have been prayed for by name! Maybe the Lord is stirring you to let them know you have prayed for them. Let us know what you think in the comments.
To John Roberts, Stephen Breyer, Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan, Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, Amy Coney Barrett,
Greetings! I am writing to you to share a beautiful dream I had; it is a recurring dream in which I have seen each one of you. I pray you read my letter and see yourselves in this marvelous dream.
It was dark, very dark. All of a sudden there was a flash of light! At first, I could not tell it was you, for you were very small, but gradually your image began to grow. Slowly your profile began to take form until it became well defined. As I was watching, a rhythmic sound caught my attention; I realized it was your beating heart. Oh how wonderful, I thought. I marveled at the beauty that I saw. The distinct features of your face slowly began to be revealed. You were beautiful; and yet only 21 days old. As my dream continued, I witnessed your transformation until I observed in awe that you had grown into an adult, and I could see all your features in detail.
Alas! Upon examining closely, I knew that it was really You: John, Stephen, Sonia, Elena, Clarence, Samuel, Neil, Brett, Amy! What a wonderful dream it was! So Beautiful and perfect, a work of art to behold. That was you… marvelous human being! You were fearfully and wonderfully made! I honor your mother and thank God for her who welcomed you into this world.
In this dream I hear a voice telling me how special you are. You were endowed with a certain wisdom for a calling that is from beyond humankind. It is the voice of your creator who tells me that you are precious in his sight; that He gave you a special calling, that He set you apart, to judge and to rule in justice, with integrity of heart. Your task is monumental, no question about that!
Only know that the One who called you will be there to help you, standing by your side, if you purpose to honor your calling and do what is right and honorable in his sight.
My dream was a dream of years; it is a dream of a lifetime; not only does it play often in my rational mind, but it is also gigantic in my heart. And you, dear justices, you are always a major part of that dream; in fact, you play the biggest role; I pray that you will play well your part.
You see, your honors, my beautiful dream is this: that in America, in my lifetime, every life would be honored and regarded precious, just as you are. That every beating heart be accepted, respected, protected. Every tiny life that lives in the womb, from conception to its natural end; indeed, just as your own life and those of your own children and little grandchildren once were.
This is the message I hear for you from your Creator, the Supreme Judge of the universe:
… “Consider carefully what you do, because you are not judging for mere mortals but for the Lord, who is with you whenever you give a verdict. Now let the fear of the Lord be on you. Judge carefully, for with the Lord our God there is no injustice or partiality or bribery.… You must serve faithfully and wholeheartedly in the fear of the Lord. In every case that comes before you from your people who live in the cities—whether bloodshed or other concerns of the law, commands, decrees or regulations—you are to warn them not to sin against the Lord; otherwise his wrath will come on you and your people. Do this, and you will not sin.” (2 Chron. 19:6-7, 9-10 NIV)
I would like you to know, your honors, that I pray much for each one of you by name, sincerely, vehemently; I join millions of Americans who are praying for you at this time as you face the most important decision of your lifetimes: to end or to protect the life of the unborn. What a great and awesome responsibility you have! I pray that you would have the fear of God in your hearts and that you would rule in righteousness. I pray that you might be found worthy of your calling; faithful and courageous to correct the course of history and free America from the iniquitous ruling that brought this nation under a great curse. For you, dear justices, you were called to that task for such a time as this. I beg you, in the name of Christ, the Supreme Ruler of the universe, Please overturn Roe vs Wade!!!
Here is a sample of the letter sent to the clerks of every justice:
Clerk of Justice Name
Supreme Court of the United States
One First Street N.E.
Washington, DC 20543
Greetings! I am writing to let you know that I am praying for you. In fact, I know many Americans are praying for you daily. We are praying for all the justices of the Supreme Court and for all their clerks, each one by name, and for all their families.
I pray that in the exercise of your duties as a Court Clerk, now and always, you would discharge your duties with integrity, coupled with a deep sense of respect for the Constitution of the United States of America. Most importantly, with a deep sense of responsibility and awe towards God Almighty who gave you the privilege to be in your position precisely at this time in history. I would be so grateful if you would please share with the justices this letter with the text of a specific message for them (attached). The message is the same to you. I pray you would take it to heart, as a warning from God Almighty to you and all members of the court. Thank you and may God bless you!
