A record-low fertility rate in the United States is raising serious concerns about the nation’s future, as experts warn that deaths could soon outpace births.

Pray for your fellow intercessor.

From the Daily Wire:

The U.S. fertility rate reached a record low in 2025, continuing a troubling trend as annual deaths are projected to exceed annual births in America within the next decade.

Total births per 1,000 American women aged 15-44 dropped to 53.1 last year, according to data released Thursday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Last year also marked the first time in U.S. history that women in their late 30s had higher birth rates than women in their 20s, The Wall Street Journal reported.

Recent projections from the Congressional Budget Office warn that, beginning in 2033, there will be more deaths reported in the United States than births. After 2032, U.S. population growth will be entirely dependent on net immigration, according to the Congressional Budget Office’s projections. The United States recorded just 514,000 more births than deaths in 2025.

A major driver of this decline is the sharp drop in births among younger Americans. Since 2010, the birth rate among women ages 20 to 24 has fallen dramatically, while teen birth rates have declined even more steeply. At the same time, many Americans are delaying parenthood due to financial pressure, uncertainty, and shifting cultural priorities.

Experts note that uncertainty about the future is shaping family decisions in significant ways. As more people delay or forgo having children, the long-term effects could reshape the workforce, economy, and stability of the nation.

The Donald Trump administration has taken steps to address the issue, including policies aimed at encouraging family formation and reducing the cost of fertility treatments. Leaders like JD Vance have also emphasized the need for a renewed cultural value on children and generational responsibility.

Most importantly, this trend reflects deeper cultural and spiritual challenges. The first command God gave us was to be fruitful and multiply (Genesis 1:28). And later in Scripture, the Lord is clear that children are blessings (Psalm 127:3-5). The sharp decline in births reflects a culture that has rejected God and put personal convenience above spiritual responsibility.

As intercessors, let’s pray for a renewed value for life, family, and children in our nation. May God restore a culture that sees children as a blessing and strengthens families for generations to come!

Loving heavenly Father, you have said that children are a gift from you. Forgive those of us who have rejected your gifts. Forgive our nation for not lining up our priorities with your priorities. Father God, You told us to be fruitful and multiply. As a nation we discouraged rather than encouraged familiy building with some of our laws. Father you have said that obedience to you is better than sacrifice. Reward your children as you did the Hebrews in Egypt with many, many healthy sons and daughters. Build happy healthy strong familily’sfor your kingdom and for this country that you founded (USA). Restore those who have been told that they are infertile,. Do mighty miracles in the bodies of those who desire to obey you and have children. Forgive our nation for encouraging abortion rather than helping families to raise the children that had been concieved. Thank you father for forgiving us as we repent of our sins as individuals and as a nation. Thank you Lord Jesus for dying for our sins so that we may be forgiven. Thank you father for answering these petitions that we ask in the Name above all Names, your Son Jesus the anointed one.

“Father you have said that obedience to you is better than sacrifice…”

Just this morning I made a note of verse 22 as I read in Samuel 15; The Voice:
Samuel: Does the Eternal One delight in sacrifices and burnt offerings as much as in perfect obedience to His voice? Be certain of this: that obedience is better than sacrifice; to heed His voice is better than offering the fat of rams.

Kathleen, your prayer is right and beautiful and I add my amen hoping the LORD will do so as well. We are dependent upon His hand of Grace and Mercy. Yes, may (our) petitions be answered in the Name of Jesus Christ…. He is the image of the invisible God and the firstborn of all creation. Amen
