I Prayed have prayed
Lord, You care about the orphan and the widow. We ask You to move on behalf of those in Afghanistan to bring them to a safe haven. Cover them in Your protective care.

As reported in the previous article, 400 Afghan Orphans at Risk of Abuse, there is good news along with an update on how we need to continue to pray for this ongoing situation.

Our prayers prevailed and the State Department took responsibility for the orphans rather than allowing them to be sent back to Afghanistan. However, there are still hurdles which require prayer.

The orphans are still being housed in a neutral host country in the Middle East. Although there have been mountains of frustration and challenges, there is new hope as a door has opened to assist these Afghan refugees and orphans.

The E3 Foundation, an organization that helps sex-trafficking victims, restores combat veterans and fights for the vulnerable, contacted immigration attorneys on behalf of the orphans and together they been able to chart a legal path for the rescue of these Afghan women and children to come to the U.S. via a process known as Humanitarian Parole. There are currently 12,000 total refugees in this holding pattern. Efforts are underway to bring the refugees, of which 2400 are children under 18, to the United States via the Humanitarian Parole process. Of that number, Save Our Allies and the Red Crescent have stepped in and are now responsible for 3,900 including the 400+ orphans.

According to Kevin Metcalf, CEO of National Child Protective Task Force, “The way this path works is quite simple. An American must sponsor a vulnerable Afghan refugee and apply for Humanitarian Parole through the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). The H.P. application costs $575 and is currently being expedited for the Afghan orphans and others rescued and now waiting in a friendly Middle Eastern host country. The turnaround time for approval of an application is approximately 30-40 days. Once approved, the USCIS will send a travel document to the US Consulate in Abu Dhabi. The refugee is then cleared to get on a flight and come to the U.S.

“Once in the United States, they are eligible to apply for asylum. When approved, they will receive a green card and federal refugee benefits.”

Already there have been some who have committed to sponsorship of some of the young women and children. The goal is for all to be sponsored so they could be approved to come to the U.S. by November.

Prayer points:

  1. Please pray for all of the organizations and volunteers who are working tirelessly behind the scenes as they continue to negotiate these waters with the immigration attorneys and the steps for Humanitarian Parole.
  2. Please pray that each of the orphans and waiting refugees that they will all be properly vetted.
  3. Pray for the needed sponsors and approval for the orphans, widows and other refugees trying to escape the horrors of Taliban retribution.
  4. Please pray for the rescue of those still behind enemy lines.

Thanks for the positive report, Karen. It is such a shame , the human tragedy that this intentionally poorly planned withdrawl from Afghanistan has caused. I am glad to see that many young children are being taken care of, where, left to the Afghans/Taliban forces, who knows what might happen to these kids. This is indeed good news. My heart still breaks for all of the American people who are still in Afghanistan, and cannot leave. Lord, by your great mercy and grace, please, make a way for the stranded Americans in Afghanistan to get home safely. In Jesus’ name.

Why is the US at stake for assisting all of these refugees? Wouldn’t it be better if these people were vetted and provided safe harbor in a country that shares there values? I believe in immigration if it is done according to our laws, however we have millions of refugees who are entering our country illegally and not properly vetted.

Has anyone noticed that all the refugees being brought in are young men? I saw a picture of refugees standing outside Hungary wanting to get in. Not a woman or child in sight. Why would the young men leave to come here and leave their families behind? Dear Jesus, please protect us. I know we don’t deserve it. We are not a Holy people. We live in a Post-Christian world, but the church grows the most in persecution. Please God purify Your church.

KAREN HARDIN, thank you so much for writing the pieces about these precious children. I am on the Orphan Sunday Leadership Team for Christian Alliance for Orphans. This year is the 20th observance of Orphan Sunday. Orphan Sunday is November 7th this year. It would be a privilege to pray specifically for these 400 Orphans and other vulnerable refugee children. As you point out, it is our mandate to visit the fatherless and the widows. The fatherless, the widow and the sojourners have a very special place in God’s heart. And the children are the most vulnerable group even within these three groups the scripture mentions time and time again. Heavenly Father, Lord God, Abba, thank you for who You are. Thank You for coming down to us, taking our hands and adopting us even though we don’t look like you, talk like you, think like you, or see the world like you do – and thank You for taking us as your children and giving us the hope that some day when we are with you, we WILL be like you. Lord, I pray that the Christ followers will stand up for those who cannot speak, Give those who are willing the means, and make those who have the means to be willing. In Jesus’ strong name I pray, AMEN

Thank you Father for rescuing these children from the Taliban. Now we ask in the name of King Jesus to ensure they and all other Afghan refugees are properly vetted and a home be provided where they can find peace and become disciples of the Lord of Lord and King of all kings. Praise be to God.

Lord help these Prescious ones & let all of the adults be properly vetted..
It seems we already have so many that were not properly vetted and although we want to help there has to be order.
You are a God of order.
