We have all been circling around the genesis of our society’s ills since the COVID epidemic struck and the riots and peaceful protests began. It is not ironic that everything happened seemingly at once; rather, once the wound appeared, it became inflamed and infected almost immediately.
On the most fundamental level, we are suffering from a complete disrespect for boundaries. The idea of boundaries is fairly simple, yet its roots grow deep, indeed to the core of humanity. One of my favorite books describes the entire book of Genesis from the Bible as an ironic story about boundaries (The Book of J, Harold Bloom & David Rosenberg).
Genesis describes the boundaries of the land of Canaan, but it also explains the boundaries between neighbors, between enemies, between men and women, between tribes, and most importantly between God and man, Heaven and Earth. The boundary between God and man exists even for the atheist because his faith is rooted not in a divine being, but in something else. Whatever it is that he believes in matters not. Science, anti-science, political ideology — something gives him sustenance, and between him and that ideal, there lies a boundary. It may only be his own misery he has faith in. That is enough to create a boundary.
A crude explanation for the need of religion is that dogma explains boundaries to us in no uncertain terms. . . .
So the argument is not whether the boundary exists or not, but do you respect it? . . .
How we deal with boundaries is called “morality.” You do not need to be religious in order to adopt a code of behavior and respect for a moral view of the world. . . .
Our founding fathers understood the reality and the need for boundaries. They were tasked to create political limits among the branches of government and also to define the boundary between government and society. They could not make their population moral. But they could and did apply a moral code to their definitions. Those things that protect the individual from the State were called “The Bill of Rights.” These rights derive from a commonsense notion that man is not the creator, but the created. Whether you believe solely in evolution or solely in creation or something between the two, humankind did not create humankind. That’s common sense. There is a boundary between us and the nature of our creation. We did not create ourselves.
Therefore, the logic goes, there are certain things within the human being that make him sovereign, and those elements are endowed through creation in us. They are not subject to state authority. . . .
Most notably, the human mind is the sole property of the individual, given him by creation. We did not create our minds or our bodies. Neither did the government. This fact should be part of “gender studies” as well as “race relations.” . . .
Freedom of speech becomes freedom of the press. When we shout down or cancel someone’s speech, we are seriously crossing a boundary. . . .
Why do the feds usurp authority from the states, and why do the states demand of the feds, and why do people trespass on someone’s right to speak? Why does the Executive Branch make law when the Congress is constitutionally assigned that responsibility? Why are so many boundaries being invaded, and why is trespassing no longer a crime?
The answer is obvious. We no longer respect boundaries. We have become that tribal human animal before religion awoke us to the necessity of morality. . . .
There are other more powerful forces at work also. We call them Google and Facebook and Amazon, a dozen companies seeking to strike down freedom of speech on the altar of their self-righteous narcissism. They are zealots, worshiping the ideological god of Critical Theory and insisting you repeat their rhetoric lest you, the infidel, be canceled. . . .
This radical religion is devoid of wisdom from its founding presupposition. Critical Theory should deconstruct (their favorite word) its own thinking! Just as the ego of a narcissist knows no bounds (by definition), Critical Theory does not acknowledge the universal fact that boundaries exist. Move over, Google — you’re crowding me! Why they wish to control your thoughts and opinions is anyone’s guess. . . .
Anti-trust laws were put in place for this reason. Monopolies by their nature invade the boundaries of other businesses trying to survive. They can manipulate markets and apply irresistible pressure on groups and individuals. It’s always the zealots who will not permit debate or dissension.
If we are to open our national borders and forgo immigration laws, we will no longer be a country. If we no longer protect the citizenry from criminals by arresting them and prosecuting them, there will be no justice, no peace whatsoever. If we allow Big Tech to censor the digital world, there will be no intelligent debate or truth-seeking. Without truth-seeking, we have no education, no possible way forward. At that point, can we really call ourselves “civilized human beings”?

Heavenly Father, by the power of Your Holy Spirit instill in all the world a “reverance for life”. Cause the goal to be an appreciation in the heart and mind of each individual the appreciation for the breathe You have breathed into every living thing.
Out of love and respect for others is one way Christians spread the Gospel message. Father, we know there is evil, and we pray, “Deliver us from evil”, but You desire us to first attempt to “Love You with all our soul, body, and mind, You, our Creator; and then our neighbor’s as ourself”.
Help each individual Christian to ask Your guidance and help in setting BOUNDARIES AND GOALS according to Your will in the life of each Christian’s circle of influence. Help us to be effective tools in Your hands, to bring the Gospel message to all people as You desire that all be saved for Your Heavenly Kingdom. Help us not to get overly involved in the process of analyzing the problem(s) at the risk of losing sight of sharing the Gospel message on an individual basis. If we love one another, or respect one another the BOUNDARIES will rise in direct ratio to our empathy and concern for others.

Today marks 52 weeks after the announcement in Wisconsin to shut down for two weeks. That boundary has been exceeded by 26 times.
Masks are a coverup for the pandemic of corruption. Even churches fail to say “Enough! Ah, the Garden of Eden, a real place by the way, it still exists.
Original Sin produced Consequences. Separation from God is the first border, consequence, from eating of the “Tree of the Knowledge of Good & evil”.
Such knowledge only sends us further away from God, the only source of Wisdom to enter our Sabbath Rest.
In the Law given to Moses, the attempt for God to come close to man once again, since His Spirit was grieved out of man, was accomplished! (Thank you Noah for your obedience, and not eating the forbidden fruit, I am here today and not toast).
Today, the rush to a one world society without borders, is an empty attempt to get back to Eden (paradise), even vegetarians and vegans are a part of the scheme. A modern day Babel, to be like God! Who does Jesus think He is anyway? We’re NOT that bad! Step aside, we can figure out our woes w/o YOU! We’ve got the United Nations we can figure out World Peace on our own!

Perfectionism, self righteousness, selfish ambition, self promotion, are all enemies of the Cross. To lose our life day by day us the path back to paradise, and only Jesus knows the way. He who has ears to hear, let Him hear. Now there’s a boundary worth pursuing, no other voice directing me but His.
Boundaries originate with God. All creation reveals boundaries like plant vs animal, male vs female!, spiritual vs physical, good vs evil etc. I would say then that true boundaries reveal God. The Law indeed Scripture is a compilation of boundaries for human good.The author’s emphasis on the deleterious effects that result when we cross them is accurate. Crossing them is lawlessness or sin; so yes doing that is a big issue, but the driving problem is not honoring God in our lives…the sin problem. We have a boundary: to love God above & at the exclusion of all other gods. Making sure our sin nature with all its ills does not rule over His Spirit is a boundary issue…a sin issue…a human issue. I do agree that the erasing of the legitimate boundaries are a foundational reason why our country & the world has reached this point of depravity. But the bottom line as always is our failure before God.

Yes, Definitely! We love live in a southern suburb of Dallas- Cedar Hill, that was is blessed to be very integrated with several Christian men & women in positions of elected or hired positions of authority along with appointed city committees or board members. I was appointed to the Economic Development Committee as a Board member 7 years ago and now I am a voting member. I am also the only white woman with 2 African American American women (1 is our Vice President in line to be the next President). The rest are equally divided between white and African American men. My husband, Tom, was appointed to the Community Development Board last year.
We and our neighbors and friends who live on Dallas County are VERY concerned that our new POTUS did not consult with elected officials in DC in both houses as well as our Governor and our Mayor of Dallas to use our local Convention Center to house 3000 13-15 year old illegal young men for 90 days! We are not naive, as I am sure our Gang Unit will agree, this is highly dangerous for our community as many of the neighborhoods surrounding the city core are full of crime & gang units. Plus, how are they going to provide shower facilities security, etc in addition to meals without them sneaking out? I am certain our Hispanic community in Dallas is also not happy about the Federal govt making decisions for individual cities and states without consulting the leadership. If this is an a ample extreme overreach of the Federal Government into individual states and cities without their notification or consent, we are looking at pure Socialism or Communism infiltrating our country right now! Pray for our protection.
LORD, please protect the Blakes and those in Dallas who are seeking Your protection from gangs and those who would impose their will on this community. Please give the leaders in Dallas effective strategies to defeat unjust actions that would bring harm to this community. Please deliver from abuse those young men who are being used for evil purposes. I ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen!

I do think our national destruction is a failure of boundaries, but it is ironic that in trying to defend the necessity of boundaries, the author appears to destroy them by including atheistic evolution in the mix. It seems to me that the result of atheistic evolution is to destroy boundaries: we are nothing more than time plus matter plus chance, therefore there is no right or wrong, good or bad, no boundaries at all.
While it is true that atheistic evolutionists can be moral, can have boundaries, can be good people, I don’t think that behavior is logical. I think the people who kill, steal and destroy are at least consistent with the evolutionary worldview. We are taught that we are merely animals, so we act like them.
This is a good article and seeks an innovative way to analyze our current events, but philosophically I don’t think it meets the need. In my mind you can’t link Biblical and non-Biblical thinking like this article does.
I never thought about what is happening to our country in this way, but it is true and an excellent explanation of the process that has taken over America. Basically, we’ve stopped listening to God and have allowed this to happen. I pray for God’s intercession, that people will be praying for our nation and doing what needs to be done within God’s will. May God have mercy and save us for the generations to come and so we may continue helping other nations without freedoms.

The fakenews media and tech “gods” cannot stop us from reading the Bible, and renewing our mind with it daily! I sense the Lord may be dividing the people in our land for a purpose, like in the time Israel dwelt in Goshen when Judgement came on Egypt and it’s gods.The people of God, under the blood and Psalm 91 were kept safe, while the Egyptians (wordly) people were terrified of the next bad thing to come. Judgement is the reward to the righteous and the penalty to the wicked. Perhaps we are all being evaluated and sorted as to what God we believe in. As Elijah said “chose you this day God or Baal…”As we pray, speak, and act rightly I believe God will protect us and His wisdom, power, and Glory will shame the prideful “intellectuals” who will be shown to be fools for denying God’s Word. My hope is that God will bring down the wicked and raise up the righteous and America will be a sheep Nation that stands with Israel and gets the Gospel out to the World. God will not allow foolish people to destroy our whole Country if the people of God here do what is right and resist them, I believe that.
No, national destruction is not the result of lacking in respect for boundaries. That is only a symptom. The root is – pride. Man putting himself on God’s throne in his decision making process instead of seeking God’s face and his instruction book for all of life – the Bible.

To a very large degree the failure to regulate our borders truly is one big reason for our soon destruction as a nation under God as outlined by our founding fathers. My forefather John Arthur came to America in 1688 with such a dream. The outcome of our revolution and agreement with those principles of Life Liberty and Pursuit of Happiness were enshrined through the Constitution and the joint powers given to our United States.
By design up til recently, we protected our nation by limiting the influx of incoming immigrants from any country by protecting our borders and only allowing new citizens who agreed, understood and embraced our constitution.
May I make an apparent truth that no one seems to mention, our nation (like any other country in the world) cannot endure or continue to be stable country while no limits are set on immigration. We cannot exists as a viable society while taking in the entire world
Agree, but as someone mentioned, this influx of immigrants really IS an opportunity to share the Gospel, those folks surely know what suffering is, too.
Funny, this article speaks to the issue of boundaries which I just experienced on a personal level with a family member. Yesterday, a family member called to ask me to report to them when I planned to take the vaccination. The question was not whether I was going to take the vaccination, but to report to them when I was going to take it since other family members had already taken it and I was being demanded to report to them my compliance. I responded that the matter was between me and my husband and that I was not going to report to the family our decision. My husband and I will base our decision on consulting with God and not pressure from family members. The family member responded very angrily and even cussed me out.
This issue really speaks to boundaries when the government and others feel justified in dictating your behavior. It’s a matter of power and control. No longer are we to think for ourselves. The cancel culture limits the information we receive. Thank God for other media outlets that are propping up that expose us to alternate ways of thinking outside the secular realm. Cancel culture even prohibits us from consulting with God as our source and instead dictates that we simply rely on the limited knowledge of man.
Father God, we humble ourselves before You and acknowledge that You are God Almighty and there is no one besides You. You are the ultimate boundary setter. We are not to trespass against You. You are the author and finisher of our faith. We put our lives in Your hands and we seek You in the decisions we make in our lives. In Your Son’s Name, we take back the power of those who attempting to control the lives of your people and pray that they would surrender their lives to you. We speak to the “power grabber,” satan, and remind him that his control comes though lies and deceit. We exercise the authority we been given in the Name as Intercessors and will step up to draw those boundaries where satan has to back up and withdraw. We claim those promises that are outlined in your Word that “No weapon formed against will prosper and every tongue that rises against thee in judgement thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord (Is. 54:17).” Thank you Father for your promises and the VICTORY. Amen.

– which temple this “vaccine” sets out to alter in ways we have no idea the outcome, since the boundary of the usual long term safety studies, has given way to a warp speed process, so that the long term safety studies are being conducted on the vaccine recipients.
According to the CDC, between Dec 14, 2020, and February 26, 2021, out of 70.45 million COVID vaccine doses administered, there had been 1,265 deaths, a subset of 4,424 serious injuries following the shot. These serious injuries included massive heart attack, Bell’s Palsy, and permanent disability.
To put these figures in a context we’re familiar with, let’s back up to the CDC’s report for Feb 4, 2021. At that time, only 35 million COVID shots had been given, resulting in 653 deaths – as compared with 193.6 million Flu Shots administered for the 2020-2021 season, resulting in only 20 deaths. Nuff said, I think.

Thanks Cynthia for the numbers. Many researchers have stated that this numbers are underestimated and only reflect 1% of those who truly have died or experienced serious side effects. Today, a close friend shared that she has experienced severe breathing problems after taking the vaccine and had to be rushed to the ER. Her doctor stated that a number of his patients have experienced similar reactions mainly dealing with the lungs. She is apprehensive about taking the second dose. We truly need to pray that the truth comes out and quick.

I agree, very well written. Boundaries are essential in every relationship. Marriage needs boundaries, children need boundaries, and on and on. We are a sick country. We have been weakened by self pity (victimization), by ideas that are now over a century old and have proven to be reckless and dangerous. Yet humans go after it. My son has been anti-Christian since high school. He is now 33. On our last visit to his family, he said “I can’t believe I’m saying this. But I was talking to my friend at work and we decided the country was a lot better when it was mostly Christian. I assumed that when the crazy Christians were gone,that logic and common sense would prevail. Who knew that man has to follow something? (He should have, he was taught this). It turns out if you take God away, they will follow almost anything, even something much worse!” My husband was listening to our conversation, he spoke up “Son, the common sense you speak of is our foundation of Judeo-Christian values. We are now living by the law of the jungle”. What he said did not immediately penetrate. But I have come to realize the value in his words. He’s right. We are living in a world where man is living by his own depraved mind and what a mess it makes. But, there is also a very large remnant of praying Christians here in the USA. Little is much when God is in it!! I cannot see His purpose in allowing this to continue, but I trust His heart – it is well with my soul! We know who wins in the end!

When the walls of morality and national destruction falls, what can the righteous do? The answer: Remain standing and be strong in the Lord and be of good courage for He is our guide. He will not fail us if we remain faithful to Him.
Our Abba does not expect us to sit on our tails but to be fearless and strong. These times are what we should have been prepared for and yet the church and believers are strong. Are we overcomers or have we been overcome? Get together with believers and pray weekly for our country. God hears the prayers of the humble..
Repent of the massive sins of our country and beg mercy for our country and pray that people would wake from the slumber of slavery which is what we are becoming…what will come next after masks, social distancing, and shutdowns. CHAZAK! CHAZAK! Be strong! Be strong!
