Federal agents executed a search warrant Monday at the Washington, D.C., home of Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., in what the Justice Department calls a criminal investigation. Fox News Digital reports the probe centers on her immigration paperwork.

The story touches two things conservatives have long pressed for: that the law applies equally to everyone, including members of Congress, and that the immigration system is protected from fraud. Omar denies any wrongdoing, no charges have been announced, and the investigation is ongoing.

Two sources close to the investigation say the search stems from a criminal fraud investigation into the Somali-born congresswoman’s immigration paperwork, which was filled out by her late father when she was a child.

“Today in the Washington, D.C., area, Homeland Security Investigations executed a judicially authorized search warrant secured by the Department of Justice. This enforcement action is part of an ongoing federal investigation,” a DOJ spokesperson told Fox News Digital.

President Donald Trump’s Border Czar Tom Homan said in mid-September that the progressive congresswoman was subject to an ongoing “criminal” investigation, but did not specify the nature of the probe.

The search began around 6 a.m. Monday, led by Homeland Security Investigations and the Department of Homeland Security, with the Justice Department also involved. HSI is DHS’s main investigative arm, handling cross-border crime, trafficking, drug smuggling, cybercrime, and counterterrorism. The Justice Department later described the investigation as criminal in nature. The White House and DHS declined to comment.

Omar said on X that she is “ok” and called the search an attempt to “target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement.” From her official account, she said the congresswoman “has done nothing wrong” and accused President Trump of a decade of political intimidation. The reporting did not include a Justice Department response to that charge. CAIR-Minnesota planned a rally in her support Monday afternoon.

Omar has faced months of scrutiny. Her 2024 disclosure listed her husband’s assets at between $6 million and $30 million. Her 2025 report lists their shared assets at no more than $125,000. Fox reports she has repeatedly declined to clarify the change. She has also long faced an unproven allegation that she married her brother in 2009. A federal prosecutor told Fox the statute of limitations could hinder any investigation of that claim. This summer, her son’s residence was searched over allegations that his felon roommate had illegal firearms and ammunition. The reporting does not say whether any of these matters are tied to Monday’s search.

Scripture gives government a clear duty to punish wrongdoing and protect the good (Romans 13:3-4). Leviticus 19:15 requires justice without partiality, which means no favoritism for the powerful and no persecution of them either. Proverbs 12:17 says an honest witness tells the truth, a standard that applies to every form, filing, and disclosure a public servant signs. Luke 12:48 reminds us that to whom much is given, much is required, and elected officials have been given much. Yet Deuteronomy 19:15 and Proverbs 18:17 insist that guilt be established by evidence and a full hearing, not by headlines. A nation that values the rule of law should want the truth, whatever it shows.

Let’s pray for a thorough investigation, and that justice is neither bent nor delayed by politics. Let’s pray for all truth to be revealed about Rep. Omar and her family, and for the investigators, prosecutors, and judges involved, that they will seek the truth and expose all lies. Let’s pray for President Donald Trump, the Justice Department, and every public official to act with integrity and honesty. Let’s pray for the integrity of our immigration system, and for salvation across Minnesota and the United States.
