Following DeSantis’ crackdown on DEI, the University of Florida has decided to shutter all of its DEI initiatives.

From The National Pulse. The University of Florida (UF) has made a significant decision to discontinue its diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, resulting in the termination of relevant staff members. This announcement was conveyed through an email circulated within the UF community, notifying individuals associated with DEI responsibilities of their dismissal.

University officials clarified that they have shuttered the “Office of the Chief Diversity Officer,” eliminated DEI positions and administrative roles, and ceased DEI-focused contracts with external vendors. This action was taken to adhere to a regulation set forth by the Florida Board of Governors, which prohibits DEI expenditures at public universities in Florida.

In a notable reallocation of resources, UF intends to redirect approximately fifty million dollars previously allocated for DEI expenses, encompassing both salaries and other costs. According to the email, these funds will now be channeled into a faculty recruitment fund under the oversight of the Office of the Provost.

The regulation in question, labeled as 9.016, was passed by the Florida Board of Governors subsequent to Governor Ron DeSantis signing Senate Bill 266 into law in May 2023. This bill effectively bars universities and university direct-support organizations from utilizing state or federal funds for programs or campus activities that advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion, or engage in political or social activism.

Wow! 5 million dollars!! How ridiculous for that amount of money to ever be allocated for such things! No wonder our government is in debt WAY over their heads!! Lord, have mercy and deliver us from those who would destroy our nation!

To hear good news after long periods of Torment ..it is so much sweeter and a savoring of final.. or at least almost final.. vindication.
however acknowledging the battle is still long …but I am so grateful for these victories.. as they come along.. and as my fellow commenters here in this thread have said..” praise God for this good news “”

Lord help us to continue to have faith in the face of yet-to-be-won-battles… where it appears the enemy is still undaunted.
” And my God is able to make all Grace about towards us that we always having all sufficiency in all things may have bound to every good work”( for the kingdom) parentheses mine

Aleluya! “The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working” -James 5:16b
There’s power in Unity. Let’s keep the fight until the manifestation. His Will, as it is in Heaven, be done here on earth. Shalom.
