I Prayed have prayed
Reading Time: 3 minutes

Pray for civility and constraint concerning the multitude of opinions among our populous regarding political as well as social issues being worked through in Congress in the coming months.

“Why do the heathen rage and the people imagine a vain thing?” (Psalm 2:1 KJV)

That didn’t take long. Less than 48 hours after the shooting rampage targeting Republican members of Congress and their staff on a baseball field in Alexandria, Virginia, followed by the picture of Republicans and Democrats kneeling in prayer at Nationals Park before their annual charity game, things returned to normal … or abnormal.

On Friday, the Drudge Report ran these headlines: “Shots fired at a truck flying ‘Make America Great Again’ flag;” “Starbucks staff harasses Trump supporting customer;” “Time Warner defends funding ‘assassination play,'” in which Julius Caesar is presented as a Trump look-alike in Shakespeare’s classic.

Can it get any worse? Probably. Should it? No.

How do we turn this caustic and crude language and behavior around? That is the ultimate question. I am not sure anyone can provide the answer. If they could, they would have by now. Or would they? There is money to be made, TV ratings to be gained and power to be preserved by keeping the pot stirred.

While some conservatives do not have clean hands when it comes to stoking the partisan fires, it is the left that is mostly responsible for taking us to new depths in political, verbal and behavioral abuse. They just can’t accept their losses, not only in the last presidential election, which they were told by pollsters and the media they would win, but in governorships and state legislatures as well.

It never occurs to them that their policies, forged in the era of Franklin Roosevelt, have exceeded their “sell-by” date, and so they lash out, trying to undermine the duly elected president by focusing on things that have nothing to do with average people.

When Republican presidents leave office they mostly do not comment on their successors. Not so with Democratic ex-presidents, who often behave as if their terms never ended. Organizing for Action, a community organizing project, which is a spin off of President Obama’s Organizing for America, appears to operate only to cause harm to and ultimately impeach President Trump. The Saul Alinsky playbook remains the Bible of the political left. Obama and Hillary Clinton are, and have long been, Alinsky disciples.

So many of us identify as members of tribes — right, left, religious, secular, Republican, Democrat, socialist. No member of one tribe seems willing to speak to any member of another tribe, or find out how and why the other came to their point of view. Apparently, many people are fine with this, at least the political activists among them. They demand 100 percent conformity from members of their tribe. If one compromises in the smallest way in order to achieve something that will benefit the most people, they are denounced as insufficiently liberal or conservative.

Let’s employ a sports example. When a visiting baseball team is at bat, fans usually express themselves in loud voices hoping the batter will strikeout. When the batter hits a home run and puts his team ahead, or wins the game, the crowd becomes quiet.

Success is also the easiest way to quell loud criticism in politics. Donald Trump is having some successes, though they are taking him longer to achieve because of all the noise about obstruction of justice. He should continue on that path, pointing out where old policies and programs have failed and are wasting taxpayer money and noting where a different approach is succeeding, or can succeed. Ideology quickly becomes secondary if you can show the public your ideas are producing real and measurable results.

The noise, fortunately, doesn’t seem to be working, at least in “flyover country.” The latest Rasmussen Poll shows the president’s approval rating at 50 percent, though other polls put that percentage far lower. Still, if the left and their media acolytes continue to rage, it will likely be to their detriment. (By Cal Thomas for Town Hall)

Oh Lord our God your name is excellent in all the earth. You are a holy righteous faithful God & you have not spit us out of your mouth. Oh Lord thank you that you are holding on to us with your mighty power. cause us to be your righteous people once more. Cause us to rise up in the mighty name of Jesus and pull down strongholds of anarchy, division, confusion, wrong thinking, rebellion, cause your people oh Lord to to pray, help us to remember who we are in you, help us to rise up in our prayer lives and speak words of life over our country. I have been called by God to intercede for Him that His will be done in our nation, the peoples, the nations. That we, as a people, shall call upon Him, for salvation, for joy, and to forgive us for our selfishness and our disobedience to Him as called out ones. His family, His people. I have had to ask forgiveness from Him for my lack of putting Him first in my life, and for not praying for this nation, Israel and for salvation for all of mankind. We need to seek His face, His forgiveness and for our fellow citizens throughout the world to know Him as our Lord and Savior.

Abba Father,

You sent Your beloved Son Jesus Christ to be beaten and die for us, so that all who believe and put their faith and trust in Jesus can be forgiven their sins, You took the penalty of our sins, You opened our blind eyes and You transform us by the power of Your Holy Spirit. We have sinned against You LORD. We have conformed to this world. we have not remained unspotted by it. Forgive us and wash us clean, create in us a new heart and renew in us a steadfast spirit. You have prospered our land and we have forgotten Who gave us that blessing and our salt has lost its saltiness and we have been trampled underfoot. Your discipline has come upon us. Forgive us LORD. Awaken the Body of CHRIST and bring us back to Yourself. Enlighten our hearts and give us a true and deeper knowledge and understanding of our LORD Jesus Christ. Raise up laborers whom You have tried and tested and have found them to be faithful stewards. Expose the hypocrites amongst us, so that Your people will no longer be led astray by their lies and ungodliness. Grow us LORD, so that we can bear fruit to Glorify Your Name in this land. Grant Your people boldness and confidence to proclaim Your truth. As the wicked seek to set traps for our feet, let us avoid the traps and instead let the wicked’s own feet get caught in their own traps. Have mercy on us LORD and remember Your steadfast love for those who have put their trust in Jesus. We are Your people and You are our God. We humbly cry out to you and You hear the cries of Your people when they humble themselves, seek Your face, and turn from their wicked ways then You will heal their land. O Righteous Father, remember Your covenant promise. AMEN.

The only answer to the mess America is in today is spiritual revival. Many Christians must get right with God and quit ignoring their responsibilities of citizenship. I heard on the news a couple of years ago or so that half of our nation’s evangelical Christians aren’t even registered to vote, and half of those registered don’t vote! So if only 1/4 of evangelical Christians vote, is it any wonder that the leftists can push ahead their ungodly agenda?

Please, let’s confess and repent of personal and national sins. Let’s fast and pray regularly for revival!
