In recent months, the White House has invited various groups of pastors and faith leaders to come for “listening sessions” during which they can share their concerns and views with White House officials.  On July 10, a group of 30 evangelical leaders met for an all-day workday that was highlighted by praying over President Trump in the Oval Office.

On July 27, a broader group of faith leaders was invited to come and discuss important issues in three separate meetings. Johnnie Moore, a prominent evangelical leader who serves as an informal advisor to the White House, attended these meetings and shared his feedback in an interview with Christian Post:

“Almost 100 evangelicals [participated]…Each listening session was about two hours and involved briefings from administration officials and an opportunity for folks to express their thoughts on various issues.” He stated that the White House is looking for a broad range of leaders to hear from, not just one denomination. Issues discussed ranged from judicial appointments to health-care reform.

“What I understand is they intend on inviting lots and lots and lots of leaders to listening sessions among various constituencies,” Moore said. “There will be more of them. They want this to be [the] people’s house, and they want to make sure there is no problem getting in touch with them and expressing points of view and those points of view are taken into account.”

The Rev. Ronnie Floyd, a former president of the Southern Baptist Convention, agreed there will be “deeper engagement” between the White House and faith leaders.

“Regardless of what people say, … there are two things we need to be encouraged [about],” he said. “First, this administration has proven that they care about what people of faith want and what people of faith are concerned about, and they are addressing [those issues]. It is very obvious that they are addressing them. Secondly, this administration … is zealous for people to pray for them. Obviously, they need it, and we all need it in our country, and they are very willing to pursue God about matters in this relationship and asking people to pray for them.”

Heavenly Father, we thank You for this opportunity for pastors and other faith leaders in this nation to have a voice in government affairs. We pray blessing upon those who would be called upon to share, and we ask that these sessions would be covered by Your Spirit in the fear of the Lord and biblical integrity. We pray blessing upon White House officials to continue encouraging and welcoming the voice of Your Church to arise in this hour to influence our government with godly counsel and wisdom. We pray that our lives and testimonies would be such that the world would increasingly ask us for the hope we have and that we would speak boldly of Your goodness and Your truth. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Praise the Lord,” Aslan is on the move”. Continue to thaw the spiritual deep freeze DC has been under. May the Bible Study on the hill continue to build the faith of our leaders and lead them into relationships with their Creator God through Jesus Christ our Lord. I pray for continued wisdom to be sought, and a fear of the Lord which is it’s prerequisite. May you Lord be honored in this country You founded, in Jesus name, Amen.

Great start, praise God. Please remember to include more women and minorities in the sessions. That would help others feel their voice is being heard and also would please the God of all flesh.
