President Trump’s “Liberation Day” tariffs have rocked the world. Foreign nations and U.S. citizens alike have scrambled in the week following the President’s announcement. Fear seems to be at an all-time high, and many have taken to social media to express dismay and caution.

The Breaking News
President Trump has announced aĀ 90 day pause and a lowered reciprocal tariff for the nations initially targeted on Liberation Day. According to his post of Truth Social, this pause comes as a result of the “more than 75 Countries” having “called Representatives of the United States, including the Departments of Commerce, Treasury, and the USTR, to negotiate a solution to the subjects being discussed relative to Trade, Trade Barriers, Tariffs, Currency Manipulation, and Non Monetary Tariffs….” The President also highlighted that these countries “have not, at my strong suggestion, retaliated in any way, shape, or form against the United States….”
The exception to this pause is China, which, as a result of its trade war against the United States (see below), faces an increased tariff of 125%. We will keep you updated on how China responds.

What the White House Is Saying
On Monday, April 7, at around 11:00 AM, the President shared the following post on X:

This post, while amusing, also reveals the White House’s consistent messaging throughout the chaos. Immediately following Liberation Day, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said on Thursday, “To anyone on Wall Street this morning, I would say trust in President Trump. This is a president who is doubling down on his proven economic formula from his first term.” Likewise, Vice President JD Vance took a sympathetic but confident tone, telling Fox & Friends, “President Trump is taking this economy in a different direction. He ran on that. He promised it. And now heās delivering. And yes, this is a big change. Iām not going to shy away from it, but we needed a big change.”
Most recently, the White House and the Trump administration have been doubling down on China, slamming the communist nation as it wages a trade war against America.
What China Is Saying
Out of every nation targeted by these new tariffs, China has had the most negative reaction by far. Even before Liberation Day, China had already vowed to fight the President’s tariffs “till the end.” Then, following Liberation Day, China responded to the 34% tariff on Chinese goods with a 34% tariff of its own. Following this, President Trump threatened to impose a retaliatory 50% tariff, amounting to a total 104% tariff on the nation, including tariffs imposed prior to April 2.
On April 9, China imposed an 84% tariff on American goods, leading President Trump to respond by, as mentioned above, imposing a 125% tariff. We will continue to update you as this trade war develops.
While many other countries have begun to work with President Trump, China has decided to fight bitterly.
What Other Nations Are Saying
Many of the nations targeted by the Liberation Day tariffs have already come to the negotiating table. Israel was the first nation to do so, as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke with President Trump on Monday, vowing to eliminate his nation’s trade deficit with America.
Many other countries have already reached out. Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba also spoke with President Trump on Monday, promising to send a negotiating team to the U.S. The European Union, meanwhile, has expressed interest in negotiating, with European Commission President Ursula Von der Leyen floating the idea of “zero-for-zero tariffs for industrial goods” in a press conference. The EU approved retaliatory tariffs yesterday, but it remained open to dropping those tariffs “should the US agree to a fair and balanced negotiated outcome.”
While some nation seem to be eager to negotiate, these negotiation have done little to ease the fear and panic gripping much of the nation.
What People Are Saying
Despite the Trump administration’s reassurances, many fear what these tariffs may do and are currently doing to the economy. The market fell sharply following Liberation Day before surging slightly on Monday and on Wednesday following the President’s announcement of a 90-day pause. While the initial plunge seems to be over and the pause may improve morale, there’s no telling what may happen in the coming days and weeks as more nations and companies respond.
The fluctuation in the stock market has caused many to lose substantial chunks of their savings. Trump critics were quick to offer scathing rebukes, with both #TrumpRecession and #ImpeachTrumpNOW trending on X on Wednesday. Even some of the President’s own supporters have begged him to reconsider some of the more extreme tariffs.
President Trump has remained confident throughout the turbulence, but only time will tell if his latest bold move will pay off.
As the future remains uncertain, its important that we remember to pray. Pray for our nation and for those who are fearful. And if you are fearful, remember that our God is still Lord, even in the middle of the storm.

Lord, we pray for our nation as it is rocked by the institution of these many tariffs. We pray for favor, courage, and strength. Let us emerge from this time of turbulence and trouble as a stronger nation.
I pray against the spirit of fear and ask that a spirit of Love would encamp around us in this nation.

Tariffs are a consumption tax on your purchases. Say if a Trump Bible arrived from China (where they are produced) at $60 and you then apply the consumption tax (tariff) of now 145% which gives you a price $147. Americans are brave and noble to accept such taxation.
Ask and Praise God for his Guidance and protection of Trump, his family, our local, national and religious world leaders. Amen.
The tariffs will be a great blessing from God as we let the process work out. Peopleās investments and savings will will stabilize and increase. We Americans expect everything to be completed perfectly and immediately but the tariff process takes time. Now we will need to negotiate with each of the individual countries over the 90 day period. Pay no attention to the rise and fall of the stock market. What President Trump is doing has in the past always been successful. Trust in the Lord Jesus. Give Him all your anxiety and concerns. Peace to you.
Now is not the time to go wobbly in our faith! Our prophetic voices have been telling us for quite a while now that “shaking” was to come!

Trump made a move in a complicated game of chess. He is a far better negotiator than any other leader we have had. He is not intimidated by fear mongering or whining or stock market. His strategy has resulted in many nations initiating meetings to discuss trades and tariffs. All part of the chess game. I suggest we leave all fear or frustration at God’s throne & allow His anointed leader to do the work he was chosen to do.
I don’t pray to God and tell Him how to do His job. Same goes for our POTUS. Perfect peace… I feel perfect peace.

I believe President Trump was called for such a time as this to be used for your glory,to stop the spirit of lawlessness, and demoralized entities from destroying this nation. Once again, President Trump is in his job as President because the people have spoken, and now, we need to allow him to do the job that he was put in office for. Trump is a great negotiator. Because of this, we need to allow him to freely perform his job, without being second-guessing his every move. Panicking and overreacting, as the liberal media and the stock market have done, is not going to help our President to do his job. Lord Jesus, I pray that You will give guidance and wisdom to President Trump in all that he does, particularly regarding the imposition of these tariffs. The stock market is controlled by some evil people who have been manipulating the market in following their evil agenda. They worship money and power and can never get enough of either. They care little for the working class or the poor. The media is pushing the hysteria and panic to help the evil agenda. The tariffs were not in effect when stock market has a big drop then when President Trump pauses tariffs maybe a little rise. I believe in God and that God is guiding President Trump and this is Godās way of getting us back to living godly lives. Let’s just purchase “Made in the USA” goods for a season and see how things go–This situation presents great opportunities for American manufacturers and after suffering through Covid, we need safe medicines made right here in the USA as well as hospital gowns!
My prayer: Father, I believe that Your hand is on P.Trump. You have called him for such a time as this. We believe the government rests on Your shoulders and if tariffs are a way to draw people to You and bring America back to being. a light to the nations then use it for Your glory. The big problem in this ‘TARIFF WAR’ is that, against old beliefs: US products govern markets, THE WORLD DOES NOT NEED THE USA ANYMORE! ā NOT SO MUCH!
PUTTING ALL OTHER NATIONS AND ECONOMIES UNDER PAIN AND PRESSURE WILL NOT MAKE THEM ALL ACCEPT ECONOMIC SERFDOM – AND THERE IS AN ANSWER TO THIS BLACKMAIL: IT IS CALLED BRICS!
The danger in these “Tariff Ideologies” is that Nations around the World will apply to join the BRICS ECONOMIC POWER which already includes over 40% of the markets and half the world population.
AN EXCESSIVE ATTEMPT AT RULING THE WORLD ECONOMY AND MARKETS IS LIKELY TO CAUSE AN UPRISING OF MOST OTHER NATIONS, BIG AND SMALL – ESPECIALLY THE SMALLEST – AND CAN TURN INTO A “SELF-BOYCOTT”!
We are not living in 1945 anymore when almost every nation of any economic potential and importance, except the USA, was on the brink of, or in bankruptcy.
That generally impoverished situation led to a new World Domination by the USA over the more developed, but economically shrunk, countries in their newly established colonial sphere. That has, however, altered considerably, and even former 2nd -and some former 3rd- World countries have joined the league of the more developed and well-supplied nations.
They will not necessarily accept serfdom of the economic dependence. We should, in this context, not forget that the United States are suffering from one of the worse -if not the worst- LEVELS OF DEBT in the World. And filling that gap with EXCESSIVE TOLLS AND TARIFFS is not likely to work.
Let me put it that way: What drove Pres. Obama into the madness of starting a war in Europe was not necessarily the wish of causing World War III – as he would, most certainly, have been aware that this could have very disastrous consequences. His interest, definitely, included the weakening Russia on its economy and military power – but more important was the dragging of Europe into a conflict of a size not seen since WW II – thereby blocking their economic future of an All-European Economic Power (including Russia AND SIBERIA with its resources!), and impoverishing them (in comparison to their pre-Maidan standards) through the billions wasted in a senseless US-Proxy war. Anyone denying this and talking the nonsense of “Russian aggression and attempted conquest”, should read the study of the RAND CORPORATION sent by their Think-Tank to all the Depts. of the Biden Govt. in early 2021. And there is little reason to believe that these plans were not already on some desks under the President who arranged the start of that war in Feb. 2014 with the Putsch, begun with the mass murder on the Maidan in Kiev – in which Obama’s envoy Victoria Nuland and large contingents of CIA and other agencies played a leading part.
What emerged there was a revival of the most unhealthy ideologies we had NOT seen since the defeat of Fascism in WWII: Torch-lit parades with portraits of NAZI collaborators like Stepan Bandera, then a Ukrainian SS General busy with “Ethnic Cleansing” of Poles and Jews, and other such “National Heroes”.
NO US PERSON āEVEN LESS A PRESIDENT- SHOULD EVER BE SEEN WITH THAT!
AND NONE SHOULD THINK OF MOVING GAZA PEOPLE FROM THEIR HOME –
similar to -and Jews should remember that- plans of moving them to Madagascar!
WE HAVE THREE THINGS HERE TO AVOID – AT ANY COST:
1. RUBBING SHOULDERS WITH MASS MURDERERS -at the cost of many lives!
2. Letting profits getting in WHERE PEOPLE’S RIGHTS ARE TRAMPLED ON!
3. DESTROYING BALANCE AND COOPERATION IN WORLD TRADE!
