The Supreme Court of Virginia delivered a major ruling Friday that halted Democrats’ attempt to redraw Virginia’s congressional map ahead of the upcoming elections. The court ruled 4–3 that the referendum process used to approve the redistricting effort violated the Virginia Constitution, leaving the current 6–5 congressional map in place instead of implementing a proposed Democrat-favored 10–1 map.

From The Hill:

“This violation irreparably undermines the integrity of the resulting referendum vote and renders it null and void,” Justice Arthur Kelsey wrote for the majority.

Virginia Democrats took the first vote on Oct. 31 of last year, arguing they could still act because Election Day wasn’t until the next week. But the state’s high court ruled it was too late, emphasizing early voting was open by that point, with 40 percent of ballots already cast.

“While the Commonwealth is free by its lights to do the right thing for the right reason, the Rule of Law requires that it be done the right way,” Kelsey wrote.

The ruling represents a significant setback for Democrats hoping to gain additional congressional seats in Virginia ahead of the midterm elections. The proposed map would have dramatically shifted the political balance of the state’s congressional delegation, giving Democrats four additional pickup opportunities in their effort to retake control of the U.S. House.

At the center of the case was a constitutional dispute over procedure. Virginia’s Constitution requires that proposed constitutional amendments pass through two separate legislative sessions with an election occurring in between. Democrats argued they complied with the law because Election Day had not yet officially occurred when lawmakers cast the first vote. However, the court concluded that early voting had already begun, meaning the election process was already underway and the constitutional requirement had not been properly satisfied.

The ruling also highlights the growing national battle over redistricting as both parties aggressively pursue favorable congressional maps ahead of the next election cycle. States across the country — including Texas, Florida, Louisiana, and Tennessee — have become battlegrounds in an escalating fight over congressional district lines and political control of the House of Representatives.

President Donald Trump celebrated the decision on Truth Social, calling it a “huge win for the Republican Party, and America, in Virginia.” Meanwhile, Virginia Democrats vowed to continue fighting for changes they say better reflect the will of voters.

IFA covered Virginia’s gerrymandering efforts, and this verdict is an answer to our prayers! As the midterms draw closer, let’s continue to pray for fair congressional maps across the nation!

The democrats claim the redistricting would better represent the voters. I don’t see how when the change makes it a 10 to 1 their advantage. I can not trust any democrat when they rubber stamp all things evil that the demoncratic leadership stands for. I don’t understand democrat voters loyalty to the demoncrat leadership who espouse their loyalty to socialism which in direct conflict to the USA constitution and most importantly God’s laws. Democrat voters take your party back by voting out of office all socialist leaning demoncrats and put in office those who seek God’s guidance. God’s laws are non negotiable and absolute. I do pray for demoncrats to repent and seek God and that democrat voters vote for those fighting for God’s laws which is not the demoncrat platform now. I trust in God. 🙏😇🙏
