The governor of New Mexico is attacking gun rights, but the attorney general is refusing to defend her action.
From The Post Millennial. In a letter sent to New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham on Tuesday, state Attorney General Raul Torrez said that his office would not be defending her administration in lawsuits related to her blocking the carrying of firearms.

“I am writing to inform you that my office will not defend your administration in the above referenced cases challenging the Public Health Emergency Order Imposing Temporary Firearm Restrictions, Drug Monitoring and Other Public Safety Measures (the Emergency Order) issued by the Secretary of Health on September 8, 2023,” the letter stated.
“Though I recognize my statutory obligation as New Mexico’s chief legal officer to defend state officials when they are sued in their official capacity, my duty to uphold and defend the constitutional rights of every citizen takes precedence.” …
Torrez said that the order “prevents individuals from carrying firearms in public for the purpose of self-defense,” adding that the reach of the order is “problematic because it purports to alter lawful firearm possession in ways that are inconsistent with Federal and State Constitutions.” …
From Fox News. Democratic New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham is facing widespread pushback from state law enforcement officials following her attempt to ban concealed and open carry permits.
Bernalillo County Sheriff John Allen described Grisham’s 30-day “public health order” as “unconstitutional” during a press conference this week despite standing beside the governor during her rollout of the policy.
“It’s unconstitutional, so there’s no way we can enforce that order,” the sheriff said in a Monday news conference. “This ban does nothing to curb gun violence.” …
Grisham issued an emergency order on Friday suspending the right to carry guns in public across Albuquerque and the surrounding Bernalillo County for at least 30 days following recent instances of gun violence.
The governor said she expects the order to face legal challenges, but she believes she needed to act in response to recent gun-related deaths. …
The suspension was classified as an emergency public health order and applies to open and concealed carry in most public places, excluding police and licensed security guards. The restriction is connected to a threshold for violent crime rates met only by the Albuquerque area. …
Grisham fired back at Allen following his press conference, ordering the law enforcement official to “stop being squeamish” about enforcing the order.
“I don’t need a lecture on constitutionality from Sheriff Allen: what I need is action,” Grisham said in a statement responding to Allen. …
She continued, “We’ve given you the tools, Sheriff Allen — now stop being squeamish about using them. I will not back down from doing what’s right and I will always put the safety of the people of New Mexico first.”
Violators could face civil penalties and a fine of up to $5,000, according to the governor’s spokeswoman Caroline Sweeney. …

This is typical of power mad Leftists.
The Governor is being outrageously arrogant. She needs to be recalled.
The United States Constitution is the supreme law of the land. Governor Gresham apparently, like many other people in powerful places, thinks she is above the law. In other words, she believes she has the power to suspend not only her State Constitution but the U.S. Constitution if “she decides” there is a “good” reason for it.
Sir Thomas More in A Man for All Seasons chastised his future son-in-law: “Oh? And when the last law was down, and the Devil turned ’round on you, where would you hide, Roper, the laws all being flat? This country is planted thick with laws, from coast to coast, Man’s laws, not God’s! And if you cut them down, and you’re just the man to do it, do you really think you could stand upright in the winds that would blow then?”
A Man for All Seasons is the Robert Bolt play about Sir Thomas More’s refusal to endorse Henry VIII’s divorce and subsequent severance with the Church in Rome that created the protestant Anglican Church (aka, the Church of England).
The question is: When all the laws are flat (have no substance) where will you stand when they come after you? Ask a Jewish Holocaust survivor what happened when the laws were ignored in Germany, Russia, and other places where they were rounded up and murdered or put in concentration camps.
No person has a chance when the “rule of law” can be overturned by the whims of politicians who place themselves above the law

Please protect your inspired Bill of Rights against ungodly elected officials who once vowed to protect the Constitution. Remind them of that vow and strength those who uphold our Republic’s Natural Laws. Thank you – in Jesus’ Name.
I agree, their needs to be control of concealed firearms to support less violence in America and peace.
This is not the problem. The people who have problems who carry the guns are the issue. Thinking like this just leads to more and more laws and restrictions. The larger problem is social media, games, etc. The Bible says: “Laws are for lawbreakers”. They are being multiplied (laws) because people have turned away from God.
I believe that what is happening is a violation of our rights as citizen of the United Staes of America. If our right to defend our selves and our families is outlawed. We will be essentially turned into beaten people . With no rights . This is how it starts. People in high places missreading situations and doing what they believe to be the right thing without fully understanding the ramifications of their actions. We as a nation God fearing must not allow this to take place.
Dear God,
Forgive this governor for her foolish actions. Like those who crucified Jesus, she does not know what She is doing. We know that firearms are not the problem, but the idolatry of self. Individual persons who believe they are more important than anyone else and entitled to use violence for economic gain or protection of their honor. Or, they lack hope and want to take the lives of others as they take their own lives.
Forgive us Father for ignoring you and doing what is right in our eyes. Forgive for ignoring the growing evil and letting it soak into all areas of society and culture.
I thank you that is not too late. You have raised up legions of prayer warriors who stand with you in resistance to and destruction of evil. In Jesus holy name, Amen.
Constitutional Sheriffs are a huge roadblock to tyranny. Thankfully, they’ve got a good one in Albuquerque. The Patriot fathers wrote the Constitution for the purpose of protecting Americans from tyranny and in this case it worked splendidly. Thank you Lord Jesus!
Gov Grisham’s actions are illegal. We have already given up too many of our rights in the name of government intervention for our “protection” and we still do not have them all back.
I support Sheriff Allen. He is absolutely right in his stand. We must stand against any form of gun grabbing. ALL of these “gun protection laws” do NOTHING to curb gun violence. They only create more targets. The people committing crimes with guns are NOT Law Abiding Citizens otherwise they would not be committing the crime. So gun control laws do nothing to stop THIER actions. I pray for God’s protection over New Mexico, Sheriff All and his force and that God will move on Gov Grisham.
