A group of us stayed at a stunning bed and breakfast in rural Virginia recently, where we were blessed with the opportunity to share what all of you — the intercessors of IFA — have been so faithfully doing to support Ukraine through prayer and the donation of meals.

Who is praying on the wall?

As God’s providence would have it, we joyfully learned that our hostess, owner of the B&B, had immigrated from Ukraine 32 years before. She had gone to work as a railroad department engineer before retiring and becoming owner of this lovely home and property overlooking vineyards and surrounded by mountains.

While she was making us a breakfast of savory omelets filled with tomatoes and spinach, we inquired about her family members still living in Ukraine. She related that many were in Kiev and that they were so far safe, their homes intact. Her demeanor changed, however, becoming downcast as she related that still other family members had been forced to flee the country to keep their children and elders safe from harm. We then disclosed that we were part of IFA, and pulling up our webpage, we showed her IFA’s daily intercessions for Ukraine. (That happened to be day 399 of those prayers!) We shared with her the prayers as written and the prayer points given, and we explained that  IFA is in frequent contact with the pastors who lead Intercessors for Ukraine. And we added that we as a community had sent over 2 million meals to Ukraine to help relieve the people there. She became overwhelmed, and clasping her hands, she declared: “You are all wonderful! Truly!”

Now, instead of being cast down, she was beaming, her countenance totally transformed through this awareness of the love and constancy of the IFA community.

Then we prayed with her, asking God to bless her business, to grant her favor and increase, and to protect her and also her family members in Ukraine. She hugged us all, each one, and welcomed us back anytime we were in the area. All of this, faithful intercessors, is due to you! This is the fruit of your prayers, your ministry, and your faithfulness.

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers (Galatians 6:9–10 NIVUK).

Let’s pray together now: 

Father, continue to watch over the citizens of Ukraine in the midst of this prolonged conflict. Guard their lives, and cause many to cry out to You and to find You to be exactly what You are: faithful in the trials, the privations, and the dangers. Allow us to continue providing relief as You lead us. And please encourage this dear woman to seek Your face, so that she might have an encounter with Your love in its fullness. Amen.
