Trump Pledges to Intervene for Afghan Allies
President Trump declared via Truth Social on July 20 that he “will try to save” Afghan allies who fled during America’s withdrawal and now face forced return to Taliban rule from the UAE.
Pray for your fellow intercessor.
This comes after a Just the News report highlighted that dozens of Afghans, many of whom aided U.S. troops, remain stuck in the Emirates Humanitarian City in Abu Dhabi, with UAE officials preparing to repatriate at least two families and potentially more.
An internal U.S. State Department cable reveals the UAE informed American diplomats on July 10 that it had already returned two families—and expected to deport the remaining ~25 by July 20—claiming these were “voluntary” returns. However, some evacuees and advocacy groups allege coercion was involved, with refugees pressurized to sign deportation papers under threat of arrest. The cable showed Abu Dhabi requested U.S. help in managing public messaging to deflect criticism of its decision.
Trump’s intervention reportedly prompted action from Secretary of State Rubio, who is said to be engaging with UAE officials to halt further deportations. Yet despite this turn, nearly 30 Afghans – including individuals who served alongside U.S. forces – remain in jeopardy. Many are women and children, vulnerable under Taliban rule.
Advocacy groups and congressional Democrats have urged Trump not only to intervene but to restore protections such as TPS to prevent deportations and expedite resettlement via third countries. Critics highlight the Taliban’s track record of suppressing criminal justice, women’s rights, and religious freedom, warning any return to Taliban-controlled Afghanistan could expose evacuees to severe persecution.

I praise You LORD over each Afghan refugee. Make perfect each one’s experience from the UAE to here and for all suffering the Taliban in Afghanistan, freedom. You know how to deal with all of us Father, with these terrorists, I pray You will have Your MIGHTY way…. I pray, I pray, I pray for their freedom and in the Name of the One in whom we are free indeed, Jesus Christ.
Our Father in Heaven, as You closed the eyes of the prison guards, and sent your Angel to open the prison gates to let Peter walk out free, please send your holy angels to protect these precious Afghan people and bring them out to safety now. In Jesus Name, Amen.
Father, Your Word has much to say about helping the weak, the orphans and widows, about loving people, applying justice and living righteously. Father, I declare and decree that the goodness of God will flow through all of those who want to assist the Afghans who were our allies and till are. Lord, whatever pressure is being applied to the UAE in this matter, I ask You to strike it down. Let the fear of God fall upon all of us to help these allies. Work a mighty work for these people. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
Yes, yes, yes.
In my large city with with several US military bases, it’s quite common to run into Afghani men who were helping our US military forces fight terrorism in Afghanistan.
But terrorists. So these men were courageous freedom fighters as well –the terroristsTaliban I suppose– had threatened their life so our US military brought them here to find safety, refuge and new life– well-deserved.
I’ve met a former MD physician who had been helping our US military personnel when he had to flee for his life. When I met him, he was working as a cashier–at Walmart- but alive. I’ve met many trying to survive driving for Lyft or Uber or as security guards.
I met one young single man who.had to flee Afghanistan quickly. His mother was so heart-broken and distraught that died one week after he’d left.
Yes, by all means, these are courageous men who love freedom and fought for it directly or indirectly supporting our own military.
Pardon typos in my late night reply
