Trump-Led Redistricting Battle Continues in Missouri
Earlier this week, Missouri began a special session to redraw the state’s congressional districts. This comes as multiple states have entered into a redistricting battle designed to help Republicans keep their razor-thin majority in the midterms.

From Fox News:
A special session of Missouri’s legislature to redraw the solidly red state’s congressional districts and give the GOP control of one additional House seat kicked off on Wednesday with public hearings scheduled for Thursday.
“Missouri’s conservative, common-sense values should be truly represented at all levels of government, and the Missouri First Map delivers just that,” Republican Gov. Mike Kehoe argued, as he announced the special session and unveiled a proposed map.
…
If passed by the GOP-controlled legislature, the new map would likely flip Cleaver’s seat and give Republicans a 7-1 advantage in the state’s U.S. House delegation.
Fox notes that this new special session was called After Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed his state’s new congressional districts into law.
This decision is part of a larger battle across the nation to protect the House of Representatives. Currently, according to Wikipedia. Republicans have 219 seats in the House compared to the Democrats 212. This lead would be easy to lose in 2026, and Republicans are heeding the Trump administration and working to make congressional districts that benefit their party.
Fox mentions some of the states that have eyed redistricting ahead of the midterms. In addition to Missouri and Texas, Indiana, South Carolina, Florida, and Utah are looking to add several Republican seats. Democrats are also trying to do the same in New York, Illinois, California, and Maryland, although Fox notes they have far less attractive options.
As this redistricting battle plays out across the nation, let’s pray. Let’s ask God for fair districts and fair elections ahead of the midterms!

Lord we thank You for our beautiful state – rich in natural resources and people who are called by Your name. Give Governor Kehoe everything required to lead Missouri in the way You would have us go. Help every legislator to understand and follow our constitution. In Jesus name we pray.
DEAR LORD GOD
HELP US TO SUCCEED IN THIS RE-DISTRICTING BATTLE, THE DEM’SHAVE DONE IT TO THE MAX.FAIRNESS DEMANDS THE SAME FOR THE OTHER SIDE OF THE ISLE
Isn’t redistricting the same thing as moving boundaries frowned upon by God in the Bible.
Can’t we trust God to help us to win fair elections by honest means that actually honor God in all our ways?
Ever all, didn’t God more than give us the victory last time with popular, electoral, and majority unanimous vote last time without moving anyone’s boundaries.
Isn’t He able to do it again if we are just as honest , informed, and engaged next term? Love and prayers.
Shirley, redistricting can be misused, but its purpose is not at all like moving boundaries. There are the boundaries that God has set, around national and ethnic people groups that shouldn’t be moved, but I contend that they have been to the degree that I’m unsure we could even recognize them or reestablish them now. The only nation whose boundaries are defined in the Bible are those of Israel, and they have never yet possessed the land YHVH gave to Abraham and his descendants through Isaac and Jacob as a permanent lease hold fully. The other boundaries that the Bible is clear about not moving, are those of property owners. Our founders understood that and used land surveys to establish property lines and boundaries, and worked to keep accurate records. Moving those is theft, plain and simple.
Redistricting is completely legal and necessary, because our population is very mobile. To have fair representation, current census information informs those decisions regarding population shifts and changes. The problem is that Democrats started making this a partisan issue decades ago – they “gerrymandered” the districts in order to favor the Democrat party. A prime example is Illinois. They are just upset, because now Republicans are now using their playbook, but doing it legally and ethically. Just consider, if a Republican won the majority vote for President, shouldn’t that be reflected in the number of Congressional seats a state holds? The census determines the number of Congressional seats a state is allowed. “Gerrymandering” purposely adjusts the district lines so as to affect the partisan representation within a district (i.e. Illinois). When this is done, you no longer have districts that simply look logical on a map, but take on the appearance of some mythical medieval dragon.
I pray for my native state of Missouri, to bring any necessary redistricting to pass. May redistricting bring about fair representation and fair mid-term elections. Thank You, Lord, that my adopted state, TX, has finally been able to bring it to pass here.
