I Prayed have prayed
God, we ask You to strengthen America and protect it. Give our military leaders wisdom and guidance as they test our nuclear arsenal.

Ahead of a critical Thursday meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, President Trump announced that the U.S. would revive nuclear weapons testing, something the nation hasn’t done since 1992.

Let the IFA community know how to pray for you.

From Fox News:

The president announced, just before his high-stakes meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, he is instructing the Pentagon to start testing nuclear weapons on an “equal basis” as Russia and China, and that the process for testing these weapons would begin immediately.

“They seem to all be nuclear testing,” Trump later told reporters on Air Force One. “We don’t do testing — we halted it years ago. But with others doing testing, it’s appropriate that we do also.”

It’s unclear exactly what Trump meant, since no country has conducted a known nuclear test since North Korea in 2017. The last known tests for China and Russia date back to the 1990s, when Russia was still the Soviet Union.

Fox notes that, though neither Russia nor China have conducted known nuclear tests since the 90s, experts say the President “may have been referring to ramping up testing of nuclear-powered weapons systems or conducting covert, low-yield nuclear weapons testing.” It is also possible that he simply knows about tests that have not been made public to the general population.

Nuclear explosions of any kind, including for testing reasons, is banned under 1996’s Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty. However, Fox notes that the U.S. has detailed in multiple reports that is suspects Russia and China are performing tests in spite of the ban.

Vice President Vance sought to dispel fears about nuclear testing, clarifying it’s purpose would be to “make sure that this nuclear arsenal we have actually functions properly.” He called this testing an “important part of American national security.”

President Trump once again testing nuclear weapons could cause fear and panic across the globe, especially among our allies. As our nation once again begins testing it’s nuclear arsenal, let’s pray for peace. Most importantly, let’s pray for the protection of America and its national security!

I am greatly saddened to see that President Trump has ordered the resumption of our country’s nuclear testing. Nuclear testing, whether above or below ground or in the atmosphere, exposes massive numbers of innocent people, animals and all growing things to ionizing (man-made) radiation which causes cancers, deforms babies in the womb, poisons the earth and all growing things.

And the purpose of this testing is to develop weapons which should be unthinkable. The radiation from such bombs alone (entirely apart from deaths from the explosions) will keep on killing long after any given war is over and everyone is friends again.–into future generations.

On July 7, 2017 the United Nations adopted a treaty banning nuclear weapons along with other weapons of mass destruction, such as chemical weapons, biological weapons, anti-personnel landmines and cluster munitions. All ratifying countries must agree to “never under any circumstances develop, test, produce, manufacture, otherwise acquire, process or stockpile nuclear weapons or other nuclear explosive devices–and the threat to use such weapons.” We should be urging the President and Department of War to sign this treaty and take ALL weapons of mass destruction off the table.

Six year after we dropped nuclear bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, our government’s Atomkic Energy Commission sent my father, Dr. Earle Reynolds, to Hiroshima to research the effect of nuclear radiation on the 4800 children who survived that first bomb. The results of his research (which our Atomic Energy Commission suppressed) indicated that ALL ionizing (man-made) radiation is cumulative and ALL of it is carcinogenic (causes cancer). For this reason, when the AEC started testing nuclear weapons among the Marshall Islands in the Pacific Ocean, our Reynolds family became anti-nuke activists and sailed our yacht Phoenix of Hiroshima into the Pacific Proving Grounds in protest. When the Soviet Union began their own nuclear testing program in 1961, we sailed to protest their nuclear testing also. Eventually we played a small part in getting the nuclear test ban treaty passed in 2017. I would hate to see our life-long efforts nullified by a President I otherwise support.

I pray for Your will to prevail in this and all political issues. That said, I do hope that President Trump’s decision about testing nuclear weapons will seen as a sign of American strength, especially to China and Russia.

I believe our president and his administration knows and has more info about government issues than we do. President Trump has continually called things out when they seemed a little frightening, but comes out right. I’m trusting that this decision to begin nuclear testing is for the good of America’s safety. Remember… He ran for making America great again. So far he works around the clock to do that, not to mention the attacks he gets regularly for doing it.

I’d rather we abide by the nuclear test ban treaty and trust that we know how to make bombs that work.
